The congregation of old at the hologram of the speaker, Lorenz Kiel, a wicked grin stretched on his face. Before being rudely interrupted by Gendo "That is, if humanity survives until then."
"Ikari. How many times must you trifle with our business?"
"Only as much times as required. Back to the topic at hand, I have it on good authority that Mundus is being resseurected on Mallet Island off the coast of Britain. And this time, it isn't by you old men."
He said, criticising their late member's plan to open the gate to the Underworld and *somehow* destroy all the demons after getting what he needed Lorenz was silent before he spoke again, his single robotic eye fixed on Gendo "... That is detrimental to our efforts. If the Demon King were to take over before Second Impact, all our work would be for nothing. Ikari, I want you to find the son of Sparda, and enlist to deal with our little problem."
Gendo stared back before merely nodding and leaving the call. All the holograms disappeared before he walked out of the room.
"How was it?" Asked Yui, preoccupied with some paperwork "Next time you're going to meet with them. I don't have any patience for the old men anymore."
Gendo stalked through the facility halls, heading to his office to use the phone. He had acquired Dante's number a while back, but was still dumbfounded that he had chosen *that* as a front for his business. Opening the door to his office and sitting down at his desk, he dialed the number and waited. After 2 rings, Dante picked up "Thank you for calling Lil' Luci's. Where the pizza here is so good you'll sell your soul for a slice. May I take your order?" Gendo shifted in his seat, what was the password again? Fish fillet? Fish burger? "Hello? You still on the line with me?" That's right! "Yes, I would like to order a plate of fish sticks."
Dante was silent on the other end. Gendo could hear some sort of clacking, like a gun being loaded "And what's your address, sir?" "Mallet Island, off the coast of Red Grave. And your rate?" "Free of charge. I remember you, old man. You'll get your order in 30 minutes or less." Gendo then hung up the line, content that things would go his way. And he didn't even have to pay this time...
Red Grave City, 8:22 PM Dante holstered his guns inside his coat, grabbing Force Edge off it's display on the wall. When suddenly, something burst through his shop doors. Quickly he grabbed the blade and turned towards the thing that wrecked his shop, that would cost a lot later. When the dust cleared, he saw a blonde woman wearing black dismounting a motorcycle, definitely not something a reasonable *human* would do. "I was wondering when more of your kind would show up. You guys can't seem to get enough of me lately." "So you're the son of the legendary dark knight, Sparda? Dante, is it?" she seemed to be completely ignoring the fact that she wrecked Dante's shop, black sunglasses covering her face and long blonde hair trailing down her back. "Yeah, yeah. Let's skip the pleasantries, Kay babe?" he took out his guns, flipping them and holding them both sideways, before shooting rapidly. Trish jumped out of the way rather easily, a yellow crackle ran through her fingers before she shot a bolt of lightning at Dante, throwing him to the floor. In his daze, Trish continued the attack, continuously electrocuting him. Dante spasmed violently, demonic lightning coursing through his body, he saw no other option, and activated his Devil Trigger. His body changed, his eyes blazing, his body black like charcoal and red like fire, brilliant red wings sprouting from his back. He flew forward, unphased by the lightning as he slammed his fist into Trish's face, launching her into the street, flying forward. He stopped outside, reverting back to his human mode and dropping to the ground, he looked back at his shop, now a flaming mess from his transformation "Do you got any idea how much I spent on that place? You better have enough to cover it!"
It was only now, illuminated by the flames and with her sunglasses that he saw her true face, his eyes widened and he reached into his coat and pulled out a picture of his mother, it looked exactly like her... He hesitated, Trish obviously noticed and staggered to her feet.
"Now, if you're done kicking my ass, I'd like you to hear me out..."
October 9th, 11:02 AM, 2015 "How's it looking, Rits?" Misato sat next to Ristuko, looking at her monitor observing the "Qilphoth Area" "Awful, damn roots are everywhere and we can't get any vehicles through. We can't try helicopters either cuz of the damns flying bats" "Oof, haven't seen you this angry in a while"
Ritsuko's brow only scowled deeper, reminding Misato vaguely of The Commander, causing a shiver to run up her spine "Have you ever worked on a question without a logical answer? This is what it's like. How do you get ground forces inside a city district full of demons and an evil tree?" Misato shrugged "I dunno. How?" Ristuko put on a mocking smile "Simple. Send in a magic poetry man with pet demons to do it for you!" "... What." The shrill sound of a call coming from the monitor caught their attention, picking up, V began speaking through light static to the two women "Dr. Akagi. I have bypassed the barrier, but unreliable signal here cannot allow me to arrange a video call." Ristuko cursed under her breath and recomposed herself "Well, is there any way to get rid of the roots blocking our way? That's been a persistent issue everytime we've accessing the wall."
"One thought fills immensity..." V was cut off when Griffon began yelling at him "Hey, this is not the time for poetry! - Wait, what does that even mean?" "Where there's a will, there's a way. Now let's go" Misato could practically feel V's smirk through the radio before he hung up. Smug bastard
11:10 AM V slid his radio back in his pocket and began moving forward, following the roots should lead him to the source. Walking forward, he suddenly found himself stopped by a sheer drop, and sent Griffon forth to scout out the area, already finding a path to his left for when he got back. A few minutes later, while reading his book, Griffon returned, with an expression only V could read, it was one of confusion "What did you find?" V asked, eagerly awaiting the answer "Well, I'm not sure what I found but I think I saw some demons dancing?" V smirked "Then we must be close, come on" He put his book back inside his coat and marched on, carried by Shadow's celerity for speed, eliminating any Demon in his path easily. As he got closer to where Griffon spotted "The Dancing Demons". He felt a strange presence "This presence..." He focused all his demonic power, he needed to know what it was and how it was so powerful "It's The Devil Sword Sparda! No doubt about it."
V ran forward, spotting his quarry high above embedded in the side of a building, surrounded by Qilphoth roots. And that's when he saw it, an amalgamation of eyeballs and bones and flesh with several masks dangling on it's skin, A Nobody, three of them...
"Well, The Commander and The Doctor aren't watching. I should be allowed to cut loose a little" Griffon looked at him, as if curious ".. Alright, V. Just try not to get caught up in the power, alright?" Griffon disappeared back into the tattoo on V's body. Summoning all his power, V grabbed his cane and slammed it into the ground, in a flash of purple light, it changed, turning into a blade half the size of Yamato, V's half when he was separated. His hair turned silver-white as his tattoos became faded and his eyes turned a glowing purple. The Nobodies seemed stunned by this, as they regained their composure they looked around for their prey and found nothing, thinking the intruder left, they continued their ceremonial dance in The Sparda's great power. In a flash of purple, V suddenly appeared right next to one of them, cutting off it's mask along with it's mishapen head. The other was upon him in seconds, V simply flicked the blade in and out of the sheath, destroying the nobody in a sphere of purple slashes, the last one threw off its mask, replacing it with a red one. V carefully eyed, hand gripped firmly on the hilt of his blade, the beast bounded towards him, slobber and blood flying its mouth, he lowered himself into a ready position, the Nobody jumped above him and V disappeared. It seemed to freeze in mid air, V reappeared a few meters away slowly sheathing his blade. As the hilt met the scabbard with a quiet click, hundreds upon hundreds of cuts and slashes appeared in a storm of purple fury, reducing the Nobody to quivering jelly on the floor. With a flick of his wrist, Yamato changed back into his cane, his body reverting as well. He looked up at the Sparda again, roots holding it in place, following them with his eyes, he found the source, a clot of blood. Trying to walk over, he stumbled and frowned, using the Yamato had expended a lot of his energy. Gripping his cane in a javelin like position, he threw it at the vein, it already started to turn pale as V teleported to it and twisted his cane, destroying the clot. Teleporting back over and catching The Sparda, he examined it, and felt a strange a presence, a presence this powerful sword was concealing, protecting. Following this presence, he arrived at a ravine, and looked into it, what he saw left him in shock. It was Dante, unconscious, Qliphoth roots embedded in his arms, healing him with Sparda's command. Finding his way down, he cut the roots from Dante's arms, causing him to tumble and fall flat on his back. V looked at him, he realized, The Sparda was protecting him from Urizen, The Legendary Dark Knight's soul still echoing through it. Suddenly, V felt rage, of course the Sparda had chosen him, he was the one who had everything, Sparda's favorite. Walking over, V's knuckles were holding the Demonic blade so tightly they turned white "If only you never existed..." V stood near his head, raising the blade "Then I!..."
V brought it down, rage filling his mind. When suddenly, Dante's eyes flicked open! Seeing no other option, V stabbed the dirt near Dante's head, suddenly unable to go through with the deed. Dante seemed oblivious to this as he rose "Thought you were gonna shish-kabob me there for a sec"
"It was the only way I thought to awaken you..."
V lied "Well, I'm up now. So tell me, did we get him or nah?" "We did not. And The Qliphoth in its current state is impenetrable, but I'm working on that, here."
V handed his communication device "Keep going in that direction and you'll see a wall, can't miss it, when you are beyond it. Use the device, they'll help us." "Well, thanks. But after your plan, V..." Dante lifted The Sparda out of the ground "Urizen's mine."
Dante marched off towards the wall, The Sparda on his shoulder and determination in his steps. V sat down on a nearby rock, face curled into a scowl. Of course Dante would save the day, he was always the hero, the favorite child, the heir of Sparda's power. V was just a runt who abandoned everything in pursuit of power, a runt who had nothing and no one, and was relying on his brother who he so hated. And V just started laughing, and laughing, and laughing. His laughter slowly turned into sobs, remembering that fateful night, when his mother and brother... Had abandoned him. V's gaze was clouded by hallucinations, his mothers dead body in front of him, his family hike burning... Head clutched in his hands, still sobbing, V was at his lowest "I am weak..."
