Angels and darkness

A/N This was partly based on a dream I had and it didn't make much sense to my friends but this is how it happened...hope it makes some kind of sense to you...maybe not, I was just a wee bit down and depressed when I wrote it. We all have our off days...esp. with this, it isn't well written (what a suprise) but I'm kinda hoping someone might make sense of it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Duo or his lover...a prize for the first person to guess his angel's identity.

Duo tensed when he heard the songs of birds at dawn. Their ideological words penetrated and shattered his heart. Their songs of undying love. Duo's eyes slowly adjusted to the morning sunlight and before him stood an angel. He held out his hand to the helplessly oppressed ghost of a once strong shinigami. Duo disentangled himself from the dying rose bush under which he had slept and stood face to face with his love. The early morning breeze sent shivers down their spines. It was a perfect love story with a perfect ending as Duo lent forward to kiss his angel. Their lips met and in their minds, the world's woes were amended. The bittersweet taste of the man he longed for was beyond artistic interpretation. He would have shielded the earth from the sun before he broke that first kiss.

"Never leave me again" he whispered in his lover's ear and embraced him for what would be the last time.

As they broke apart, Duo could make out another figure on the horizon. It stood as if expecting something Duo thought. What could they want out here? But his trail of thought was interrupted.

"I must go Duo" the angel hoarsely whispered. Duo didn't hear for the figure at the top of the hill had changed. It was moving towards them at great speed and Duo made it out to be a raven. Reassured that it was only a bird he turned back to his koi.

"Sorry, what?" he asked as if in a daze. No reply came. From the sky what seemed like a hundred black feathered bats descended upon himself and his angel.

"Duo, I will always be with you. Memories never die" and he was gone. Duo was once again left alone.
