Secret Service Christian
I wake up,
dreading the realization
that it is time to wake up for school
and begin the innate preparation.
I have no desire to go.
No student really does,
but mine is quite different
from the normal scholastic buzz.
You see, I'm a Secret Service Christian.
I hang out with the wrong crowd.
I dress the same as the "cool" people
and play my music way too loud.
I'll curse occasionally,
just to fit in.
What is life anyway
without a little sin?
I live how I want
and play by their rules.
Why we even call "church people"
just a bunch of fools.
Religion is just for old people and kids.
The group says that's right.
If I don't do what they say,
I might get myself into a fight.
It's fun anyway
to be one of the big fish.
To be popular
was probably my biggest wish.
My parents, on the other hand,
think this music and these clothes are satanic.
I've heard them talk.
You'd think I'd thrown them into a panic.
My friends,
they also don't approve.
For a while, I thought,
that we were going to move.
My church, thankfully,
doesn't realize a thing.
They just worry
if I'll be there on Sunday to sing.
Oh, don't worry,
I 'm a Christian at heart.
My life is perfect
without the school part.
I look in the mirror
as I water my hair just a tad.
If everything is going so good,
then why aren't I glad?
