Spoilers: Run Away, Little Boy
PARIS: I knew he was going to mess this up for us, the weasel, but no one wanted to listen to me. It was all, 'Ooh, let's make Tristan Romeo, he's hot.' Never again will I be this stupid.
RORY: What about Brad? He is the stand-in.
PARIS: Brad transferred schools. God knows why. [Tristan walks up to them] Just where have you been? No. I don't want to know! Go, you have to get dressed, we're on in ten minutes.
TRISTAN: Can't.
PARIS: I'm not in the mood for your games Dugrey. Get a move on.
TRISTAN: I'm being serious, Paris.
PARIS: What?
TRISTAN: My dad had me pulled out of school. He… [Paris walks away] … and is she unhappy. Nice to know she cares.
RORY: What do you mean he had you pulled out of school? What happened?
TRISTAN: Nothing. Just ticked the old man off, that's all.
RORY: By doing what? Tristan, come on, tell me.
TRISTAN: I got in some trouble.
RORY: That's new how? Okay, okay, trouble involving?
TRISTAN: Involving Duncan and Bowman, and Bowman's dad's safe.
RORY: Oh no. Tell me you didn't.
TRISTAN: I can't say that. I mean, Bowman had a key. It was supposed to be no big deal. Until the crazy silent alarm kicked in.
RORY: Ugh, You broke into Bowman's dad's safe?
TRISTAN: Yes.
RORY: Stupid. Monumentally stupid, Tristan!
TRISTAN: Yes.
RORY: Well, okay, you can apologize and you can put back the money and you can explain that, I don't know, you were going through something.
TRISTAN: I was, I was going through his safe.
RORY: Why in the world would you do this?
TRISTAN: I don't know. I guess that's something I can ponder at military school.
RORY: Military school?
TRISTAN: Well, the police are letting our parents handle it, and in my case that means military school in the wonderful North Carolina.
RORY: I don't know what to say.
TRISTAN: Well, I imagine you're overwhelmed with the relief in knowing that soon I will be gone.
RORY: I'm so sorry.
TRISTAN: I don't need your pity. I'm a big boy. I can handle it.
RORY: So, There's nothing you can…
[Tristan's dad calls him from down the hall]
MR. DUGREY: Tristan, come on.
TRISTAN: I've gotta go. So, uh, I might kiss you goodbye but, your boyfriend's watching. Take care of yourself, Mary.
[Tristan turns and begins walking towards his father. Rory watches him and takes half a step forward than hesitates before hurrying up behind him]
RORY: Tristan! Wait.
[Tristan turns around and Rory wraps her arms around him, pulling him into a kiss. They slowly pull apart.]
RORY: Write me, or something. You know, you could do great things Tristan, if only you'd drop the act.
[Tristan stares at her amazed and saddened]
TRISTAN: I know. I'm sorry Rory. I've really got to go. I'll keep in touch.
[He turns and walks away. Rory turns around and sees her mom approaching and Dean walking quickly in the opposite direction.]
RORY: Oh boy.
LORELAI: Oh boy is right. Lucy, you have some 'splainin' to do. and not just to me.
