The next day was a bit better, Snape or that's what people had said, had allowed Slytherin to go back to training so Jade hurried to get the field before any other team, in case they were allowed to play too. So, they could get to practice right before dinner and Jade actually reserved the field for the next day as well, so they could be ready for their first match in November.
The Slytherins practiced even longer as they had no interruptions. The next day though, Jade overheard Angelina that she could reform her team, luckily Jade had booked the field for almost every night until their match.
And finally, it seemed like Draco and Jade weren't fighting all the time. Jade practically paid no attention to the Toad when they had classes with her, and Draco was pleased. They also got to spend more time together.
Draco and Jade were walking to Care of Magical Creatures when she turned to look at him and got distracted by his features. He had seen him probably a million times. She had liked him for maybe a year and a half but in that moment when she took a good look at his icy grey eyes and perfect nose and even noticed a small smile on his lips, Jade's heart skipped a beat... more actually.
"What?" Draco asked when he had noticed she had been staring.
"Nothing," Jade said blushing.
"Why are you blushing?"
"I'm not," Jade muttered, blushing even more.
After checking no one was around, Draco smiled at her and stole a kiss from her. Jade felt like she had been swept off her feet after that short interaction. She always felt something with Draco but that time it was stronger and yes, she was enjoying it but at the same time those feelings scared her a bit.
The following day, it was Neville who approached her without looking directly at her. She was working on the Silencio charm. Neville, was the closest Gryffindor to her. He whispered to her that they had found a place and were meeting that night at 8:00 pm.
Before that though, Jade had to practice some Quidditch with her team. She was paying more attention to the newie, Lewis. Draco and Graham played as the chasers of an opposite team. Draco managed to steal the ball from Lewis a few times, and Graham intercepted many passes. They decided to change, Graham with Lewis and Draco with Jade. Same thing happened.
"Okay, we need to practice more. You need to know where your opponents are," Jade told him. He was talented, he was good at everything. He even scored against Miles a few times but his weak point was acknowledging his opponents so they could easily take the ball from him.
When practice was over and everyone else had left the field, Jade was honest with Draco about her plans for that night.
"I'm meeting them tonight. I can't be specific but you already know about it and wanted to tell you."
Jade had told Draco about the conversation with Ron before the meeting in Hogsmeade, Draco didn't agree of course but she let her go to that meeting as he wasn't her boss and when he asked if she joined she only nodded and briefly told him she signed a paper and couldn't tell him about it even if she wanted.
"I wish you would not seek things that could get you in trouble," Draco said as it started to rain heavily.
"Well, you know me," she said with a shrug. "But it feels right, you know? That's why I decided to join."
"Just be careful, okay?"
"Yeah."
Draco, who lately had been showing more affection towards Jade, as if they both were finally more comfortable with that sort of thing, put his cold and wet hands on Jade's cheeks and softly kissed her. When he was pulling away, Jade put her hands around his neck and pulled him back in, kissing him deeper. Draco didn't object.
Draco moved a bit further, closer to her as he put his hands around her waist now, but the mud made him slip, bringing Jade to the ground with him.
Draco's blonde hair was now brown, covered in mud. Jade laughed as he just shook his head. In less than a second though, Draco switched positions with her. Now she was on the ground, covered with mud and he was on top of her.
They were both laughing when suddenly they realized it had gotten too far. Draco looked a bit uncomfortable, being where he was and he quickly stood up, he offered a hand to Jade who took it, and she was glad she did. She was going to slip when Draco strengthened his grip on her and pulled her up, making her clash against his chest. Her dirty hands covered in mud ended up on his chest. She bit her lip and slowly moved her hands away.
Draco, trying to assure her to not feel awkward or anything, grabbed her hand as they both started walking back to the castle. She smiled and squeezed his hand.
Still with wet hair from her shower and pink cheeks from the hard training, Jade walked out of the common room and went to where she was told. Luckily she bumped into Cho Chang, her friend and Luna, so she walked to the place with them. Cho was okay with her since she stood up to Umbridge and Luna didn't have a problem with anyone.
They opened and walked through a door that Jade was sure she hadn't seen before, half of the students were already there. When everyone made it, Potter explained how this room worked, and what they needed to do to get in.
It was a spacious room lit with flickering torches like those that illuminated the dungeons eight floors below. The walls were lined with wooden bookcases, and instead of chairs there were large silk cushions on the floor. A set of shelves at the far end of the room carried a range of instruments.
Potter had decided to practice the spell 'Expelliarmus' and ordered the twenty-eight to pair up and Jade's heart sank a bit as she knew no one would want to be her partner. But to her surprise, Ron tapped her shoulder, she turned around and smiled at her friend.
Potter walked around the room to check everyone's performance. Ron let Jade tried first and as she had done it before, she sent Ron's wand flying across the room. Potter noticed and complimented her, which was awkward for the two of them.
Soon, Jade and Ron stopped practicing. Jade had noticed the twins using the spell on Zacharias so his wand always flew out of his hand whenever he tried the spell. One time Fred did it, then George, then Jade. Ron didn't join as he still wasn't so good at it. The three of them stopped as Potter had caught them.
Some people were quite good but others totally sucked, some couldn't even pronounce the spell correctly, despite having practice it before in class. This wasn't new to anyone so it was a shock to see so many people getting it wrong.
An hour later they stopped and one by one they left the room, leaving Potter, Ron and Jade alone for a few minutes.
"You did well, Lias," Potter said to her. "Perfectly, actually. How come?"
"What? You don't think I can be good?" Jade said defensively.
"Many, including seventh years didn't get it done every time, Fred and George were the exception," he said. "So, I was just wondering."
"I actually pay attention in class and work hard to learn things," Jade said coldly. "Just because I come from a rich family it doesn't mean they pay to make me pass my classes."
"I didn't mean it like that," Potter said quickly.
"How did you mean it then?"
"I just wanted to say you did great," Potter said, not knowing what to say.
Jade was about to leave but then turned around to face the two boys. Truth was that coming from such a respected family, she always had extra classes even before she started Hogwarts. That's why she knew many things and was good at it. Pure-bloods and kids with magical backgrounds often come to Hogwarts with some knowledge but some families take it a bit far, like hers. She knew almost everything from first year and second year before starting school. That's also why she didn't have an excuse to have bad grades.
"Got a letter from your mum," she said to Ron, deciding not to tell the boys about that, she didn't like sharing moments of her life before Hogwarts or anything too personal. "She's a nice lady."
"What did she say?" Ron asked worried.
"Just said she hopes I'm doing alright and to stay out of trouble. I take she knows about this club thing and knows I joined." Ron nodded. "It's sweet she cares. Anyway, good night."
During the following weeks, they had practice Expelliarmus a bit more and the Impediment Jinx, that time Jade was paired with Fred Weasley. Then the Reductor curse. They always practiced the spells from the times before at the start of each class and added a new one every meeting. So, they wouldn't forget and learn more each time.
Potter had asked Jade to show everyone how to use the Reductor curse. She hated to be on the spotlight like that and she didn't want to be hated for being a 'show-off', it was enough that people hated her for just being a Slytherin. But nevertheless, she did as Potter told her and without even being showed or told how to do it, Jade did it perfectly. Some were really impressed. Potter was one of them, he was too impressed that he offered her to be something like his assistant, to help him teach, supervise and correct the others.
Potter was growing more curious as he noticed she got it right every single time, with every spell. He knew they had learnt those spells in school but more than half of their fellow classmates struggled with most of them and no one got it right a hundred percent of the time, except for her.
"You are offering me this after only four meetings? I can be good but not good at teaching," Jade said simply. "I would probably hex them once I lose my patience."
"You haven't hexed Neville yet and you keep helping him. That must be a good sign," Potter said with half a smile. "Just think about it, yeah?"
Granger had given each member a fake galleon. Those fake coins, instead of having a serial number on the edge like the real ones did, had numbers that changed to display the time and date of the next meeting. And the coin would get hot every time the date or time was changed so people would feel it and know of it.
Jade always carried a few coins with her so people wouldn't suspect of the single coin, just in case. And whenever she went to sleep or played Quidditch, she hid it well, so no one would steal it, thinking it was real.
Hope you guys liked the chapter!
Gotta tell you that now the president went crazy and now we can't leave our homes on Sundays like WHAT? What will that achieve? Just people going crazy. And I can't use my car 3 days a week...
Anyone has seen Merlin, I was thinking of writing one-shots of Arthur or Merlin? Thoughts?
Anyway, tell me what you think! :)
