It wasn't surprising that the whole school knew what had happened by the next morning. They knew Dumbledore was gone but some people were exaggerating. Some were even saying the Minister was at St. Mungos.
Cho was currently at the Hospital Wing as they still hadn't gotten a counterjinx to fix her face. Jade had to give some credit to Granger for that. Not like she would actually say it outloud.
"Did you hear? The Gargoyle at Dumbledore's office had shut itself, it won't let Umbridge in!" Jade heard a Ravenclaw say. He was sat right behind Jade at his table.
As expected, people wanted to know what had happened and wanted to hear the true story from the 'witnesses'. Potter had more of a hassle than Jade, as he seemed less intimidating. But despite her being in Slytherin, people from other houses approached her to ask her about last night.
She told all of them that there was nothing else to add, they all knew everything, but there was a question that made her look up from her breakfast. A first-year-Hufflepuff-girl was the one who asked.
"What?" Jade asked shocked.
"Are you and Harry dating?" she asked again, her brown eyes looking straight at Jade. Draco was next to her and she could tell how tense Draco got. "I think it's cute. You make a good couple."
"Uh, thanks?" Jade muttered surprised. She never thought someone would think they looked good together. "But uh, no, he is not, uh... we are not together."
"Oh..." the girl said sadly.
Jade noticed lots of people were also waiting for that answer and she was uncomfortable. How did they even know about that? Was it one of the portraits that had talked? Was it Percy Weasley? Was it someone else? Had it been Cho?
As she walked out of the Great Hall, she saw how Potter almost choked on his drink. She could only guess he had been made the same question as her, but this time by Ginny and Fred Weasley.
But there was something else they all had to worry about, with Dumbledore gone there was a new Decree out, making the toad the Headmistress so that only meant that things were getting worse and worse.
And that showed to be true when Pansy and Blaise, were docking points from random students for no reason at all. By lunch time, things got a little out of control.
Draco looked a bit too pleased to explain what the Inquisitorial Squad was to Potter, Ron, Granger and Ernie, from Hufflepuff. Pansy even showed them their pathetic tiny silver badge on ther uniform with pride.
Draco looked at Jade for a second as she approached them. "I thought your father made you join her and you weren't happy about it," she said.
Jade could see regret in his eyes, she shook her head at him in a way of telling him to not do it but Draco only looked down as Pansy kept talking about how important they were. Jade knew Draco didn't want to do it but he had to. But she wondered why he looked so proud and satisfied with what he was doing.
"I'll have five points because I don't like you, Potter." Jade heard Draco say, and despite knowing Draco wasn't completely on board, Jade knew he actually meant that, especially because of the rumours of Potter and Jade being together.
"Ten for being a Mud-blood," Pansy said smirking. Ron was going to get his wand when Granger stopped him.
"I think that's enough," Jade finally spoke. Pansy glared at her.
"Are you defending your boyfriend and his filthy friends now?"
"What if I am?" Jade said in a threatening tone. Straightening her body, she was at least three inches taller than Pansy and way smarter and more skillful. "Are you going to challenge me? Or are you going to dock points from your own house?" Pansy didn't say anything. "Yeah, I thought so."
"You are just jealous Professor Umbridge didn't choose you!" Pansy spat.
"Right... You are so clever, Pansy," Jade said sarcastically with a laugh. "Can you just get away from my sight?"
Pansy was going to say something else when Blaise grabbed her arm and pulled her with him. Draco didn't dare to look at her as he followed them. Jade took a deep breath once they were out of sight.
"Noticed, have you?" Fred said as he appeared next to them. They were looking at the giant hourglasses. Some stones were flying upwards from three of them. Of course Slytherin wasn't losing house points.
"The Slytherins just docked us all about fifty points," Potter said furiously.
"Yeah, Bletchley tried to do us during break," George said.
"What do you mean, 'tried'?" Jade asked quickly.
"He never managed to get all the words out due to the fact that we forced him headfirst into that Vanishing Cabinet on the first floor," Fred told her.
"But you'll get into terrible trouble!" Granger said horrified.
"Not until Bletchley reappears, and that could take weeks, I dunno where we sent him," Fred said coolly, and Jade smirked, the diffirences between her and Miles hadn't been forgotten or forgiven. "Anyway, we've decided we don't care about getting into trouble anymore."
"Have you ever?" Granger asked.
"Of course we have," George said. "Never been expelled, have we?"
"We've always known where to draw the line," Fred said. Jade just chuckled at that.
"We might have put a toe across it occasionally," George admitted, looking at Jade. "But we've always stopped short of causing real mayhem."
"But now?" Ron asked tentatively.
"Well, now..." George said.
"... With Dumbledore gone..." Fred continued.
"...We reckon a bit of mayhem..."
"...Is exactly what our dear new Head deserves."
"You mustn't!" Granger exclaimed. "She'd love a reason to expel you!"
"You don't get it, Hermione, do you?" Fred said, smiling at her. "We don't care about staying anymore. We'd walk out right now if we weren't determined to do our bit for Dumbledore first. So anyway," he said, checking his watch. "Phase one is about to begin."
"Run along, now," George added.
Fred and George turned away and disappeared in the swelling crowd descending the stairs toward lunch.
"I think we should get out of here," Granger said nervously.
But before they could move, a member of the new squad, approached Jade, tapped her on the shoulder to make her turn around.
"What now?" she exclaimed angrily. "Came to take more points, to brag about your new postion?"
"Eh..." The boy looked uncomfortable and not as intimidating as Jade. "The Headmistress would like to see you."
"What, now?" Jade asked furiously. She really didn't want to see her, especially in private.
Jade, with her arms folded in front of her the entire time, followed the sixth-year to Umbridge's office. He knocked on the door, opened it and then left once Umbridge thanked him.
"Please sit Miss Lias, I think it would be nice to talk after such a night," Umbridge said with a smile that made Jade sick. She couldn't disagree more at her. "Now, would you like a cup of tea?"
"I don't drink tea," Jade said coldly. Her pokerface was back on. She stared blankly at Umbridge. No emotions in her eyes.
"What would you like? I've got all kind of drinks."
"What about a firewhiskey?" Jade asked and Umbridge's eyes went even wider, Jade almost laughed. "Just joking."
"Right... would you like some orange juice?"
"Actually, I feel sick, so I rather not have anything."
"Choose something!"
"Water, then," Jade said with a shrug and soon a glass of water appeared in front of her. Umbridge kept telling her to drink and Jade kept refusing.
'Just bloody drink... I hate this girl so much...'
Jade grabbed the glass and pretended to drink but didn't. The toadlike smile got wider.
'Yes... keep drinking foolish girl.'
Umbridge looked away when someone knocked on the door and Jade evaporated half of the water with a spell. It went unnoticed by her and Filch, who was the one at the door.
"Now, Miss Lias, where is Dumbledore?"
"How would I know?" Jade asked confused.
"Don't lie to me girl! You are part of all this plan! You were the leader with Potter!"
"The leader?" Jade asked with a small chuckle. "There were no meetings, therefore, there weren't leaders. And believe me, no one but a Slytherin would want a Slytherin leader."
"Where is Dumbledore?"
"I don't know."
"Do you know where Sirius Black is?"
"Are you going to ask me now where everybody is? I've never even met Sirius Black," Jade said shocked, but of course that it was a lie as she had met Sirius during the summer.
"Are you really dating Harry Potter?"
"Do you have a problem with that?" Jade asked, pretending to be offended. "He's... handsome. Great sense of humour and we do get along."
"Based on what I've been told, Lias, you are a smart girl. Always looking to achieve something. You follow the rules. A good student."
"I'm not a good student," Jade said, interrupting Umbridge. "I am the best. And yes, I'm ambitious and there's nothing wrong with that."
"Well, don't let Potter and Dumbledore manipulate you then... I can see why they would want someone like you on their side but sweetie... you can do so much better without them. Would you like to work at the Ministry?"
"No, not really," Jade said simply.
"I know your mother, she's a lot like you."
"I really don't think so... I got the dark hair but that's about it.."
"What would she think if she knew you were dating someone like Potter?" Jade froze and for a second her worry showed in her eyes but soon she recovered herself. "I'm sure she would worry. That boy just brings trouble."
Jade was having a hard time trying to listen to her, like her actual words. She didn't know why but she was listening to her thoughts. They hadn't stopped for a while. She normally didn't listen to people's thoughts for so long and she was trying to keep a strong face, and concentrating on listening to Umbridge and at the same time trying to control her own mind.
But it was hard, especially after listening that there was Veritaserum in the water, that she knew Sirius and Potter had been in contact, that she had sent her parents a letter, and mostly how much she hated her.
"If you tell me where Dumbledore is, you'll be forgiven, as if nothing happened, and you will be able to join my squad, only for very special students," Umbridge said in a fake sweet voice.
"Well, what a shame," Jade said in a similar tone. "I can't be of any help as I don't know where he is. And how can I be forgiven if I haven't done anything wrong?"
"Well, Miss Lias... I'm so sorry for having to come to this but I'm afraid you aren't the right person to be in charge of something as important as the Slytherin Quidditch team. So from today, you are no longer the Captain and you aren't part of the team anymore. In fact, you are banned from the Quidditch field for anything but to watch matches... that's until you have something to tell me."
"Very well," Jade whispered looking at the window instead of her ugly face. "May I go now? As I have nothing else to say and I don't want to be late for class."
Jade walked out of her office and one floor down she broke down. The punishment she had to do when her hand literally bled was nothing compared to what she had done now. If she hadn't been so stunned, she would have probably hexed Umbridge.
Jade was glad everyone was eating lunch, the hallways were all empty. Jade walked straight to the common room she was skipping lunch and probably every class that day, she just wanted to be alone.
But destiny had other plans. She was just one corner away from the stairs that led to the dungeons when she bumped into someone, she was going to keep going when the person stopped her and asked her if she was okay. She cursed and looked away.
"What's wrong?" Jade shrugged but didn't answer, making the guy sighed. "What did she say to upset you this much? Is she expelling you?"
"No..." Jade said, looking down at the floor. "Worse."
"What can it be worse than that?"
"She will tell my parents... or already has... about the illicit group and... dating Potter..."
"But you are not crying because of that, must be something worse," Ron said holding her tightly so she wouldn't slip from his grip. "Harry was just called too, he must be there by now."
"Have you been talking to Sirius?" she asked.
"Why?"
"She asked me where he was. I can understand asking about Dumbledore... but Sirius?"
"Well, there was an incident. We were talking through Floo and then we saw a hand trying to seize Sirius, he escaped."
"But why ask me?"
"Because you are Harry's girlfrend now... because Black is believed to be a follower of You-Know-Who and she might know your family is too... I don't really know Jade... but she's crazy."
"Potter is not stupid, right?"
"No... why?"
"That toad put veritasserum in my drink so I wouldn't be able to lie, I hope Potter is smart enough to not drink anything."
"Jade... what did she do? Don't try to change the subject."
"I don't want to talk about it," Jade said as her eyes watered.
She slipped through his grip and hurried to her dorm, at once she jumped into her bed and started crying.
She hadn't realized she had fallen asleep but when she woke up because someone was yelling, she realized it was dark. The person yelling was Draco and from what she could hear, he was demanding someone to let him in somehow, or to check on her... as boys can't really make it to the girls' rooms.
"Look, just tell her I want to talk to her."
"She's sleeping!"
Jade kept listening but she didn't go down, in fact, when all the girls came to the room, she pretended to be asleep, but when she couldn't go back to sleep she went down to the common room.
"Oh God, Jade!" Draco exclaimed as he stood up and rushed to her, embracing her. She had hope to find the common room empty. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Jade nodded.
"Channel wouldn't allow me to even attempt to fly to your dorm, I think it could work... And she wouldn't tell me if you were okay, she can be such a pain. Anyway, that bitch... how dare she?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Graham is the new captain and she told him that if he sees you in the field and she finds out he didn't tell her about it, then he is out of the team too..."
"So, everybody knows?" Jade asked, suddenly tears filled her eyes again.
"Well, Umbridge talked to the team, and eventually people told people, and those told more people, so yeah... they know."
For the first time, Draco saw how Jade's lips were quivering, she looked lost. A tear fell down her cheek. Not even when they were little kids, Jade had cried. He knew she was trying hard not to cry but after that first tear, they kept coming. He also noticed how she bit her lip so it would stop trembling.
Draco hated to see her like this, he wiped her tears, and then her new tears, and then he couldn't just keep wiping them as new ones kept coming so he hugged her tightly and that was it... she did break down in his arms. Draco could feel how badly she was shaking in his arms.
Draco pulled back a bit and then carried her, holding her under her thighs, her arms around his neck. He walked to the couch and sat down on it with the brunette on top of her. He went back to holding her tightly as she just buried her head in his shoulder and kept crying.
"Travis, Crabbe, Goyle and obviously me are protesting... we won't show to any training anymore. First one is in two days and we don't care. And we'll do whatever it takes to get you back on the team."
"Really?" Jade asked, lifting her head and looking down at Draco's grey eyes. He nodded with a smile.
"Even if it was just me... I'd do it."
"Thanks."
Jade dried her face with her sleeve and then kissed Draco on the lips, action that was reciprocated almost immediately. Jade put her hands on both cheeks and deepened the kiss.
For a little while Jade forgot her problems, she forgot the entire world. It was just Draco and her... But then reality crashed on her.
"I know you don't like that I spent time at the Weasleys' place but I think might have to do it again..."
"Why?"
"Umbridge is telling my parents of the group I was part of and that I'm dating Potter. So when I get home, I might just die from the Cruciatus that they will probably punish me with or they will just kick me out. I'll find out in a few days when we go home for Easter."
"I know we didn't want anyone to know but if it will help... save you, then I'll tell your parents you are my girlfriend... not Potter's. They can't disinherit you for that."
"No, but they can still punish me."
So, here's the link to the video I mentioned last time. Hope you do like it. I'm happy with it as I hadn't done a crossover in sooooo long and I missed it. Any recommendations for another video? I have clips from Merlin, The walking Dead, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, True Blood, Supernatural, Skins...
I still have a pending project 5 or 6 people from Walking Dead paired with True Blood characters, I did part 1 but not part 2. I need the exact clips to do it though, so there's that :)
And tell me what you think of this chapter :)
