Harry helped Ron and Granger get on something invisible to them. Neville helped Jade and Luna helped Ginny.
It was scary to be several feet high in the air and not seeing what you were gripping on. Jade only knew they existed because she could feel it, she felt how its wings moved, and felt how it took deep breaths and felt its bony back. That didn't calm her down though, she was having seconds thoughts about joining Harry now. She was going so fast, even faster than on a broom and she couldn't even see the thing.
The only thing that Jade felt comforting somehow was the beautiful purple sunset they saw before it became completely dark. Jade wanted to get into a more comfortable position but she didn't dare to move, what if she slipped? How would she hold on if she couldn't see the creature?
Suddenly, her thestral descended very fast, giving her a funny feeling in her stomach. She closed her eyes and held on even tighter with her eyes closed until she heard Harry telling her they were on the ground. He helped her down and it was then when she felt how stiff her body was. Her bottom and the inner part of her thighs were so sore that she was walking funny.
"Never again!" Ron exclaimed.
"Here!" Harry exclaimed once everyone had landed, pointing to a telephone box. The seven of them managed to fit inside the tiny space. "Dial six, two, four, four, two, whoever is nearest." Ron did it, he could barely could move his arm but he managed to do it.
"Welcome to the Ministry of Magic, please state your name and business," a female voice said.
"Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley, Jade Lias, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood," Harry said. "We're here to save someone."
"Thank you, visitor, please take the badges and attach them to the front of your robes.
Granger grabbed them and handed them to each one of them, which was quite a task. They all had their names written and underneath it read 'Rescue Mission'.
Then the telephone box moved, it went down. But compared to the Thestrals this was very slow. Finally, the door burst open. Harry was the first to get out, followed by Luna and Neville. And then Jade and Ginny and finally the other two.
Harry led the way, he started running and the others ran after him. Jade wasn't the only one who thought it was a bit weird that there was absolutely no one, not even a guard around. It wasn't normal.
They stopped as they waited for a lift, which was quite noisy. They all got in and Harry pushed a button. When the doors opened to let them out a female voice said 'Department of Mysteries.' And apparently, still no one was around. It was completely deserted.
Harry led the way down the corridor, running again. Granger, Neville and Luna, who didn't do sports looked tired and were breathing heavily. The other three were in better shape. Harry then stopped, opened the door he had been dreaming about for months, Jade only knew the door because she had seen it twice when she was helping Harry with Occlumency.
They walked into a circular, black room. Everything, including the ceiling, floor, walls, was black. And identical handle-less black doors were on the walls, lit by candles with blue flames.
Then the candles began to move sideways, the wall was rotating. Jade got dizzy for a second, feeling like everything else was moving too but it was just the wall.
"Great," Jade exclaimed. "Now we don't know what door we came in from."
"We should try a few doors, in my dreams the door leads me to a room that kind of glitters. I could recognize the place."
They tried a door, but it wasn't the right one. Granger marked the door so they would know they already tried that one. After they closed it, the wall span again.
The second door they chose led them to another room with a peculiar thing. A veil. It made Granger nervous and she urged Harry to get out but then he heard something.
"Is that you, Ron?"
"I'm here, Harry," Ron said.
"Can't anyone else hear it?"
"I can, there are people in there," Luna said.
"It's just an archway, there's no room for anybody to be there, Harry, let's go," Granger said, trying to pull him away but he resisted.
"We need to look for Sirius, Harry," Jade said and that sort of broke Harry's trance.
"Yeah, let's go."
Apparently, Neville and Ginny were entranced too, Ron grabbed Neville's arm and Granger did the same with Ginny. And finally they walked out. They marked that door as well and once the wall stopped moving, Harry chose a third door, which was locked.
"I'll use Sirius' knife."
Even with the knife and alohomora, the door didn't open. The wall span again and Harry pushed another door open.
"This is it!" he exclaimed.
And Jade also recognized it, as she had seen it because of him. There was a beautiful, dancing, sparkling light.
The walked in and saw all the interesting things around them, Harry though, was just focused on the way.
"Through here," he said as he pushed another door open.
They all had their wands ready. What they saw many small, glass orbs on several tall shelves. That room was colder and darker.
"We need to go to row ninety seven," Harry told them. "And keep your wands out."
They were only at row fifty-three, then they went right. No one could hear anything but their own steps, apparently, they were all alone. After a couple of minutes of running, they passed row eighty-four... they were close.
"Ninety-seven," Granger announced and they all came to a halt.
"He's at the end," Harry whispered.
They all followed Harry once again and when they reached the end, no one was there. Harry was getting frustrated. Mumbling to the others but mostly to himself.
"Harry... I don't think Sirius is here," Granger muttered.
Harry ran from one side to the other, looking and searching but it was obvious Sirius wasn't there and there was no sign that he had been or anyone else.
"Harry?"
"What?" Harry snapped at Ron, thinking he was going to tell him they needed to go back and just leave.
"Have you seen this?"
"What?" Harry asked, looking at the dusty glass spheres on the shelves.
"This one got your name on."
It read ' S.P.T. to A.P.W.B.D. DARK LORD and HARRY POTTER.' It also had a date of sixteen years ago.
"What does it mean?"
"Lias?" Neville said nervously, making her look at him. He was by the other end of the row. Jade frowned as Neville never called her Lias and it felt weird. "Are you Jade Leonie Lias?"
"Yes, why?"
"There's one with your name as well, two rows ahead," Neville informed him. "It has the same letters. A.P.W.B.D. The date was January 1986."
Jade followed Neville to row ninety-nine. And yes, he was right. her name was there. T.A.F to A.P.W.B.D. This glass sphere was very dusty and it wasn't as bright as the one with Harry's name. Jade bit her lip as she stared at it, why was there one of those with her name on? And who where those people? T.A.F and A.P.W.B.D?
"I don't think you should touch it!" they heard Granger say.
"Why not? It's got my name on."
Neville and Jade walked back just as Harry grabbed the little ball. To everyone's surprise and Harry's disappointment, nothing happened, at least because of it. Jade then thought of grabbing the sphere with her name on.
But then they did hear a voice coming from behind them. Jade froze, not because they weren't alone anymore but because she recognized that voice.
"Very good, Potter. Turn around and give that to me," Draco's father said.
Then several black shapes appeared behind Lucius, Jade was the last one to turn around and face them, but when she did, Lucius seemed shocked to see her there and for a moment he showed something close to caring. He looked down muttered something under his breath, took a last glance at her and then he looked at Harry again, his eyes turning cold once more.
"Where's Sirius?" Harry asked. Several Death Eaters laughed. Jade's heart sank.
"The Dark Lord always knows!" another voice Jade recognized said, but this time it was from a female. Ron and Harry thought it was familiar too, they couldn't place it but Jade could. It belonged to the 'stranger' that was sat at their table for Lexion's wedding.
"Give me the prophecy, Potter!" Lucius repeated.
The Death Eaters had gotten closer, Jade took a step backwards, not because she was scared of them... she was scared of being recognized by other Death Eaters.
"I know Sirius is here, where is he?"
"You need to learn the difference between life and dreams, Potter," Lucius said. "We'll start using wands if you don't give me the prophecy."
"Go on, then!" Harry said raising his wand. The other six, including Jade did, but the Death Eaters did not move or attempt to strike.
"No one needs to get hurt," Lucius said as she looked at Jade, the others noticed that. Maybe it was an advantage having her here, it seemed like Lucius cared about his son's best friend.
Bellatrix attempted to accio the prophecy but Harry used protego, Bellatrix was surprised and offended at it. Apparently she hadn't recognized Jade yet, luckily at the wedding, Jade looked so different with make-up on and that nice hairdo.
"I told you no, if you smash it you are dead!"
"Why does Voldemort want this prophecy?" Harry asked.
"You dare speak his name with your half-blood's tongue!" Bellatrix shrieked.
"Did you know he's a half-blood too?" Harry asked, the others were a bit shocked at his bluntness. "Voldemort? Yeah, his mother was a witch but his dad was a muggle... did you think he's a pureblood?"
"Stupef...!"
"No!" Bellatrix's spell was deflected by Lucius, making other spheres shatter.
Harry tried to buy time by talking and it seemed to be useful too as Lucius was giving Harry information. He told him the prophecy said why he got the scar and only the people that the prophecy mentioned were the ones capable of retrieving it, that meant only Voldemort and Harry could get that specific one.
"Someone made a prophecy about Voldemort and me?" Harry asked.
Lucius, foolishly, kept talking, giving Harry details. He found it fascinating that Harry didn't know what he had in his hand. Jade wanted to ask him if he knew of the other sphere with her own name on it but that would only draw attention to herself and she didn't want that.
"Now!" Harry shouted.
"Reducto!" six voices shouted at the same time. The shelves opposite them exploded, and hundreds of glass spheres burst apart, figures erupted from them and unfurled into the air and floated, their voices echoed, saying the prophecies.
They all started running, Jade being in the middle. They had to fight off some Death Eaters along the way but they finally made it to the door which they had come from. Granger locked the door with a spell but only then, they realized that Ron, Luna and Ginny weren't with them. They heard footsteps then, but it wasn't from their friends.
"We'll split into pairs and search. Be gentle with Potter. You can kill the others if you have to, except the girl with the green sweater. If you do something to her, consider yourself dead."
"Why?"
"She's valuable, Nott, now go!"
Lucius mentioned names as he made the pairs. Rodolphus was there, but that wasn't a surprise. Jade felt sick when she heard the last name.
"Lexion, you come with me."
Neville had to grab Jade by the arm so she wouldn't go through the door and probably kill her brother for being with them. She was torn between despair and anger. They started running and Neville pulled her with him.
The rest was a bit of a blur for Jade. At some point she ended up only with Granger and she didn't know how or why but then the four of them were all together again. Somehow, they ended up in an office and before they could close the door two Death Eaters came inside.
"Impedimenta!"
All of them were knocked backwards, Jade hit the chair which was probably better than the others. Especially Granger, who was buried underneath several books.
"We've got him!" One of them yelled. "In a ...!"
"Silencio!" Jade said quickly, being the least dizzy and injured of the four.
"Petrificus Totalus!" Harry shouted at the second Death Eater, who fell forward, unable to move.
The first Death Eater shot spell after spell at them even when he wasn't able to talk. Neville managed to rip off his mask and it revealed Antonin Dolohov, he had murdered the Prewetts.
Dolohov got distracted for a second and Harry quickly used the same spell on him. The four of them ran away as fast as possible, even with an almost unconscious Granger.
They ended up in the same circular room. They were going to try for a door when suddenly another door opened and Ron, Ginny and Luna fell from it. Ginny apparently had a broken ankle and Ron was acting weird, laughing like crazy and saying nonsense.
Luna was helping Ginny, Harry was helping Ron and Neville was helping Granger. The least Jade could do was having her wand ready and protect them if she had to.
They opened a door, and they saw three Death Eaters running to them, Jade closed it quickly and locked it.
Then they ended up opening the first door they had opened before, the room with lots of brains. They ran and ran and struggled with a few Death Eaters until they all caught up with them. It didn't look good. Once again Lucius asked for the prophecy.
"Don't give it to them, Harry!"
"Neville, don't." Harry said as he tried to stupefy a death Eater.
"Longbottom, is it?" Bellatrix sneered. "I had the pleasure of meeting your parents... let's see how long Longbottom lasts before he cracks like his parents... unless Potter wants to give us the prophecy."
"Don't do it, Harry," Neville exclaimed.
"Cruc..!"
"Protego!" Jade shouted quickly, she felt how both spells collided against each other, her wand trembled a bit but she stood firm and she successfully repelled the spell.
Bellatrix tried once again but Jade stopped her. Jade wouldn't let her use Crucio on him, not only she knew what it was like to go through that pain but she also knew she and Neville had a special hatred towards that curse as his parents were tortured by it.
"How long do you think you can protect your friends? Can you protect all of them?" Lucius said to Harry. "Give me the prophecy or your friends will start to die, one by one, despite her brave efforts."
Bellatrix had only seen Jade twice and she didn't even pay attention to her before or now, she was only a few months old when she and the other people involved with the Longbottoms' torture were sent to Azkaban, and at the wedding Jade looked so different from what she normally looked like, so apparently Bellatrix hadn't recognized her but if she saw her face at a meeting or in the street she would probably remember her from that night. It was a huge risk for Jade, a risk that could mean her death.
Jade's eyes locked with a pair of bright green eyes. There was shock in them. Jade wasn't that surprised, but that didn't mean she fully expected it. Lexion was next to Bellatrix with his mask on, she only recognized him because of his eyes.
While Jade pleaded with her eyes to her brother, Harry was approaching Lucius to give him the prophecy, he wasn't going to risk anyone's life. But then just before Lucius could take it from Harry, a door flew open and five people rushed into the room.
Lucius raised his wand but Tonks had already stunned him. The rest of the members of the Order were shooting spells at the eleven Death Eaters.
In the chaos, Jade ran away for cover, but ended up with a Death Eater. She raised her wand but did nothing and the man did nothing to her. They only stared into each other's eyes.
"How could you?" Jade said, only loud enough for Lexion to hear her.
"Jade..."
"They killed Cedric!" Jade yelled. She knew they had killed more people but knowing someone that was killed made more impact. "They've killed several people and you still joined them."
"In every war you have to choose a side, I made my choice, Jade," Lexion said calmly. "As my sister, I wouldn't want you to be involved, but if you had to be, I wish you could be with us."
"I'm not going to kill, Lex," Jade told him with a shook of her head.
"Mr. Malfoy could have been nice to you this time but the next one don't be so sure... Are you really trying to tell me that you wouldn't kill if you had to?"
"I would do it as last resort but I wouldn't kill innocent people, good people."
"So you think I'm bad?"
"I think you've been manipulated. I think our parents are really bad but you can still change," Jade told him with tears in her eyes. "It's not too late."
"Jade!"
Jade turned to look at Harry struggling to leave the room with Neville, whose feet were dancing. Harry gave her a look and made the prophecy roll to her. Jade turned to look at Lex, and without warning used a spell to make him faint and then quickly grabbed the sphere and ran after the two of them.
A Death Eater had seen them, it was Rodolphus Lestrange. The red light didn't hit any of the three, but hit the sphere that was in Jade's hand. The broken glass made Jade's right hand bleed. They saw a figure coming out of it then. Its lips were moving but because of all the chaos around them they couldn't hear what it was saying.
Then they turned to look at the door and they saw Dumbledore. Harry smiled despite what had just happened. He hurried past them, a Death Eater ran to him but Dumbledore effortlessly sent him flying away from him.
"You can do better than that!" They heard Sirius say to Bellatrix with a laugh, they were dueling.
Bellatrix's next try did hit him in the chest. Sirius took a step backwards and fell, but he didn't fall on the ground, he fell through the veil hanging from the arch they had seen earlier and then he just disappeared.
Harry left Neville and sprinted to go help Sirius but was stopped by Lupin. Jade held Neville or tried to as his feet wouldn't stop moving. She used Impedimenta and his feet were motionless and normal once again.
"It's too late, Harry!" Jade heard Lupin say.
"We can still reach him!"
"He's gone, there's nothing we can do!" Lupin exclaimed as he held Harry with force, not letting him get closer to the arch.
Harry kept calling for Sirius but Lupin dragged him away, to where Jade and Neville were. In the middle of the room there were many Death Eaters immobilized by Dumbledore.
Harry suddenly escaped, going right after Bellatrix. Before Jade could think, she was following him. Neville was now good with Lupin. They followed her into the room with brains, the others were there but they were hurt or too shocked to do something.
Then they ended up in the circular room again, Bellatrix smirked as she walked through a door, the one that led to the lifts where they came from and she shut the door. The walls rotated once again.
"Where's the exit?" Harry yelled. "Where's the way out?"
Surprisingly, one door behind them flew open and they ran through it. Harry being slightly ahead of Jade. Bellatrix had gotten in a lift and they quickly got a second one, Harry pushed the button marked Atrium and before the doors were completely open once they reached that floor, Harry got out and started running once again.
Bellatrix was almost at the telephone lift, she looked back and shot a spell at Harry. He dodged it. Jade moved a bit to the left just in case. Bellatrix was laughing and bragging that she killed Sirius, making Harry furious.
"Crucio!"
As Jade heard Bellatrix scream, she stopped running, completely shocked. For a second she thought she had used the spell on Harry, not the other way around. It seemed like Harry didn't do it well because she just fell, she didn't shriek with pain, she was actually back on her feet quickly.
"Never used an Unforgivable curse before, Potter?" Bellatrix yelled. "You need to mean them! You need to really want to cause pain, enjoy it. Anger won't hurt me for long. I can give you a lesson of how is properly done!"
Jade and Harry hid behind statues as Bellatrix tried to Crucio them. She was saying how a pair of two students couldn't win against such a powerful witch as her. Jade wanted to say something but she bit her tongue. She couldn't let her pride win right now.
"Give me the prophecy and I'll let you go!"
"It's gone!" Harry yelled.
"What?"
"Your dear husband smashed it with a spell," Jade said loudly but then she regretted it. She didn't want Bellatrix looking at her.
"Liars!" she shouted. "You've got it! Accio Prophecy!"
"Nothing there!" Harry said with a laugh, knowing it would make Bellatrix even more upset. "It's gone and nobody heard what it said."
"No! Master, I tried... Do not punish me!"
"He can't hear you from here!"
"Can't I Potter?"
Jade froze. She had never seen Voldemort, especially so close. He was tall, quite thin. His face was snakelike and pale. He had his wand pointed at Harry, he seemed frozen, just like Jade.
"So you smashed my prophecy? Months of preparations... of effort..." Voldemort said softly.
"Actually," Jade said before she could even realize she was speaking. "Rodolphus Lestrange smashed it with a spell."
"Master, I am sorry! I was fighting Black... you should..."
"Be quiet, Bella!" Then he turned to look at Harry. "I have nothing else to say to you, Potter... Avada Kedavra!"
Jade who was the only one with her wand ready, used Protego on both of them and even when she felt how weak her spell was, it saved them. Jade felt like dying from the glare Voldemort sent her way. She knew she was now on his black list.
"It was foolish to come here tonight, Tom," Dumbledore said, coming out of nowhere. "The Aurors are on their way."
"By then I shall be gone and you dead!"
Dumbledore then used a spell to shield Harry and Jade, pulling them away. Jade felt like she was glued to the wall. She tried hard to move but she couldn't... she couldn't even speak.
Jade could only see out of the corner of her eye how Dumbledore and Voldemort dueled. A giant serpent appeared and was hissing and attempting to attack Dumbledore. Fawkes, the phoenix helped Dumbledore. Then the snake vanished, leaving dark smoke, covering Voldemort.
Then Jade noticed how Harry just fell to the floor, he was in pain, holding his scar. Dumbledore looked at him with fear, and it was then when Jade could finally move.
"Kill me now, Dumbledore..." Harry said but it wasn't really Harry.
Jade listened to Harry's mind. He was in there, almost screaming to stop the pain. He was also begging for Death. Then everything got silent. Jade rushed to Dumbledore's side not knowing if Harry was dead or not. He was lying on his stomach and Jade only knew then that he was alive because he was shivering.
Then the room was filled with voices and footsteps. Jade saw how green flames burst into life in every fireplace as people emerged from them. Jade could see the Minister, who was so shocked, he had just seen Voldemort. He was wearing his Pyjamas and a cloak.
"If you proceed downstairs into the Department of Mysteries, Cornelius, you will find several escaped Death Eaters in the Death Chamber, bound by an Anti-Disapparation Jinx."
"Seize him!" Fudge cried.
"I am ready to fight your men and win again," Dumbledore said calmly. "A minutes ago you saw with your own eyes what I've been telling you for a year. He's back. It's time you listen to sense!"
"Dawlish! Williamson! Go down to the Department of Mysteries!" Fudge exclaimed. "What happened here?"
"I'll explain after I return Harry and Jade to Hogwarts."
And it was then when Fudge finally realized Harry was there, he was still on the floor but he was okay. Dumbledore then grabbed a piece of a broken statue and turned it into a portkey.
"You will give the order to remove Dolores Umbridge from Hogwarts. You will tell your aurors to stop searching for my Care of Magical Creatures teacher. I will give you half an hour of my time to discuss what happened here."
Jade smiled as Fudge just kept stuttering, not believing what he was hearing. Harry was still sort of like in a trance, probably from the pain.
"Miss Lias, take care of Potter, if he needs to, fetch Madam Pomfrey, I'll be with you in half an hour," Dumbledore told her as he handed her the portkey and both she and Harry felt that horrible sensation of spinning and being jerked but soon they were back in Hogwarts.
I do hope this chapter wasn't too confusing. I didn't want to make it super long but wanted to add all the rooms and things that were in the book but not in the movies.
Also, what do you think the prophecy with Jade's name on is about?
Last chapter, I mentioned that my knees are crappy. They improved a lot within a couple of days. And I played with this guy and it was like that one game sort of fixed them. They didn't hurt one bit even when it's the most tiring and demanding match I have played since gyms opened again. I play squash and many people suffer from bad knees :(
So, all was good. And then I was playing tennis doubles against my aunt and this other guy (I've been playing both sports for the last month or so) and I saw a ball that was high but I knew I could get it. I jumped, got it, and boom... I landed badly and twisted my ankle.
The noise I heard still plays in my head. I stayed in the ground for a bit, in shock. I thought that I had seriously torn something. I got up and I could walk, even jump but I couldn't concentrate after that.
The pain I felt that first night was bad... and it got so swollen. The next day I could walk without pain but when I touched the area it hurt badly. Today I think it's better. Still swollen but better.
So, now I have two knees, one ankle and one arm to worry about, (arm is not serious) and I'm not joking even when it sounds like a joke. If anyone knows what to take (like vitamins) to prevent more injuries and heal the ones I've got, I'd appreciate the advice!
