It was almost the end of March when Gryffindor played against Hufflepuff, Jade was doing really great, scoring goal after goal. She was stoppable but then without any reason she lost consciousness. Ginny and the beater called Ritchie grabbed her in mid-air and laid her down on the ground and then continued to play.
Jade woke up in the hospital after the match was over. Her teammates, including Harry and Ron were kicked out soon afterwards. She needed to rest in peace.
"I can go now, right? I'm good, I feel good. I know I should have eaten breakfast, I didn't think it would be such a big deal," Jade said to Madam Pomfrey. "The nauseas were so bad that I couldn't stomach anything."
"You didn't faint because you missed one meal, Miss Lestrange," Madam Pomfrey said. "And no, you can't go yet."
"Why then? Is there something wrong with me?"
"Eh, you are pregnant," she said and Jade actually puked at her words once she digested what the older woman had just said. "About eight to ten weeks."
"No, that's not possible! This isn't happening. Is it? Can you redo the test?"
"Do you understand that the Headmaster and Head of House must be notified about this? Go get the father and let's go. It's my duty to take you to them."
Madam Pomfrey did redo the test but it came back positive too. Jade sobbed. Minutes later she found herself in Dumbledore's office with Madam Pomfrey and McGonagall.
"I'm so disappointed, Miss Lestrange. I thought you would be a little bit smarter," McGonagall said.
"Yeah, me too," Jade whispered.
"Where's the father?"
"He's just someone that lives close to my house, he doesn't come here," Jade lied quickly, thinking that with the Horcruxes and Harry being 'the Chosen One', it would be better to hide the fact that it was Harry's.
"Minerva, would you be so kind as to fetch Mr. Potter?"
"He's not the father!" Jade exclaimed.
Minerva left and went to get him, ignoring Jade's outburst. At that moment, Dumbledore explained he knew it was Harry's because it was prophesied but didn't get into details.
"Oh, Harry, thanks for joining us, please take a seat," Dumbledore said and Harry sat next to Jade, at the moment both looked like little kids in trouble. "I imagine you know why you are here."
Jade sank in her seat, she started crying and the real Jade wondered why. Yes, the news were overwhelming but she had already cried. She needed to toughen up and face it. She could cry again later.
"Is something wrong with her? Is it because she fainted?" Harry asked, confused. "Will she still be able to be in the team?"
"In a way, yes, it's because she fainted," Dumbledore said softly. "Harry, congratulations, you are going to be a dad."
Jade felt odd how Dumbledore was congratulating Harry while he was a bit cold towards her. Why didn't he congratulate her? Why didn't he scold Harry? Why wasn't McGonagall saying anything to him? Harry looked sick, both Harries did and Jade cried harder. Real Jade rolled her eyes.
"Is that why she fainted?"
"Wow, Harry, you are so bright!" Jade said sarcastically. It was the first time the real Harry had seen that version of Jade being sarcastic. it almost seemed like the old Jade.
"Sorry," Harry muttered. "Wait...are you sure?"
"Normally in this sort of circumstances we'd ask the parents to come to Hogwarts and speak to me. But your case is different. Your uncle and aunt are Muggles..."
"You aren't telling them, are you?" Harry pleaded.
"It's my duty. They are Muggles so we must go to them, we'll do that first. Then as Sirius can't come here with Umbridge around, we'll go to him. The three of us. Don't tell anyone. Umbridge can't know anything about this, so, we are going to leave at night, maybe that way she won't notice we are missing."
Real Harry and Jade walked out of the office following their other selves. Jade got the object out of her pocket then. Their other selves started to have an argument as they walked away, but they had other more important things to see so they didn't follow them.
"What are you doing?" Harry asked.
"Tell me where you live, if you want to see that," Jade said and then passed him a little bit of the potion they were supposed to drink once a day, so they wouldn't be so exhausted once they were back.
"Four, Privet Drive, Little Whinging," Jade said, repeating what Harry had said and suddenly they were right in front of where Harry lived.
Five hours later, their other selves and Dumbledore appeared. Harry looked scared and nervous, Jade seemed like she was in shock.
What followed was horrible. Vernon lost it. He started screaming and just went mad, while Petunia made faces as if she had just smelt something gross, but kept mostly quiet.
"I already cared for a kid that wasn't mine, did more than I should have!"
"As his guardians you must know," Dumbledore said calmly. "Harry will be seventeen this summer so, you won't have more responsibilities. You won't care for this child unless you want to."
Jade and Harry heard Uncle Vernon screaming for another half an hour. Dudley eventually joined and asked what was going on, his father ignored him and just kept yelling and complaining as he paced from one side of the room to the other, stopping every once in a while to look at either of the three, but mostly at Harry. Dudley eventually figured out what was going on but didn't say anything, he actually looked a bit paler and scared.
Being the same age as Harry, he probably put himself in Harry's shoes, and just the thought of it, made him very uneasy. He actually excused himself to drink some water.
Once they settled everything and Vernon calmed down a little bit, the three of them left and went to Grimmauld Place. Sirius was there in his pyjamas already. Dumbledore walked in and then Sirius could see Jade, who obviously had cried a lot recently and Harry, who looked like a ghost.
"Oh no," Sirius said immediately after seeing them. "No... not them. No."
"I haven't even told you what's happening, Sirius," Dumbledore said kindly.
"I'm not dumb. Both of you are a pair of idiots! When did this even happen?"
"If my calculations are correct, Sirius, this happened while both of them were here for the Christmas Holidays." That was a blow for Sirius, for once he looked surprised and even sad. "What do you want to do? How do you want to handle it?"
"She will keep going to school until it's noticeable. If she has to start late next year, then so should Harry. He needs to help around," Sirius said strictly, sounding like a parent for once. "I'll look after it when they are in school but I'll need help. And the two of you owe me big time for this! And of course that you will have consequences!"
"What if I don't want it?" Jade said quickly. "I don't want a baby."
"You should have thought about that before doing adult stuff, Leonie! And you Harry, you know she's a year younger, couldn't you both be more responsible?"
It was the first time real Harry and Jade noticed Sirius had used her second name and it came as a shock. Jade had never been called just Leonie. Her parents would use her full name at times but that was it.
Sirius didn't scream like Vernon but his behaviour hurt Jade and Harry way more. He was disappointed and that was really hard to achieve.
Not long after that, Harry used Sectumsempra on Draco. When he woke up and Jade refused to leave the Hospital Wing, they spent some time talking. At some point, Jade whispered to Draco the reason why she had fainted during the Quidditch match. He was the first and only person Jade ever told and real Harry, who witnessed it, was a bit jealous and bothered about it. It didn't help that Draco hugged Jade to comfort her as she cried.
It was the very first time she was saying the words out loud and her reality sort of slapped her in the face right there. She had ignored and avoided thinking about it since the night their families were told. She and Harry hadn't really discussed anything of it either, especially during the last few days as Jade wasn't even talking to him because of what he did to Draco.
Even though they weren't exactly friends again, after Jade told him her big secret, Draco often checked on Jade and told her to keep herself safe and out of danger in the following weeks Jade was unsure what Draco meant and that made her feel uneasy. He refused to give any details or to say anything else about it.
However, Jade had to withdraw from school at the start of May, by then nothing had happened yet. She was four months pregnant and it was starting to be a bit obvious. Jade had to endure several days of being scolded by Sirius while worrying and constantly thinking about Draco's words.
"I should have done this earlier, I know it's too late but maybe this will help you from not making any more mistakes. Your parents didn't tell you anything, did they?"
"What?" Jade asked, confused.
"Of course they didn't, you were only ten when you last saw them, right?" Sirius said, mostly mumbling to himself.
Sirius actually had the talk with Jade, it was extremely awkward, especially because she was a girl and Sirius a man, maybe it would have been easier with another girl. Sirius was also really graphic, he had no filter. He also planned to have the same talk with Harry when school was over.
Back at school, Draco failed his mission, couldn't fix the Vanishing Cabinet, which resulted in his death and Narcissa's, not long after the school year was over. Lucius, who was in Azkaban, was alive, probably his punishment for failing his last mission.
When Sirius told Jade, she was devastated. She didn't leave her room or talked to anyone for several days. If she spoke to Sirius it was to ask him why he had been murdered. Sirius only had some details but nothing for certain so he kept telling her that he didn't know.
When Lucius escaped from Azkaban in late July, he invited Jade over but she sent him a letter that she was unavailable at the moment. The pregnancy was a secret and he couldn't see her in such a state. She felt extremely guilty and horrible for not seeing him, knowing he had lost his entire family only weeks ago.
Jade gave birth on August 9th, 1997, to a healthy, rather big boy, despite being born six to eight weeks early. The stress of Draco's premature death had been way too much and caused her to go into labour earlier. The real Harry and Jade were a bit overwhelmed with the birth. It was so bizarre to watch themselves as parents. Harry suddenly had this urge to hold the baby but obviously didn't.
"How should we name him?" Jade asked.
"Leo..." he said suddenly after many other names. "Leo Potter."
"Why Leo?"
"Because your name is Leonie and it's a beautiful and meaningful name. It means lion. We are both Gryffindors and he might be one as well and I like it. Leo Sirius Potter."
"He won't be less angry at us if we name him after him," Jade pointed out. "What about Leo Hendrix?"
"Leo Hendrix Potter... hmm, I like it," Harry said with a smile as he looked down at the baby in his arms.
"No... not Potter, we can't use that surname," Jade told him. "If anyone finds out... he'll be in danger. We'll use mine and if anyone asks, I'll say the dad is someone that goes to another school, that lives close to me."
"I guess you're right. So, Lestrange, is it?" Jade nodded. "Hmm, never thought I'd have a kid named Lestrange."
"Well, I never thought I'd have a kid while I was still in school."
Just before returning to Hogwarts, Jade finally accepted Lucius' invitation. They had met somewhere close to Scotland, he wanted and needed to be as far away from his home. He was a complete disaster after losing his wife and son and even when they weren't as close, Jade was really heartbroken about it.
Sirius and Harry didn't know where she was or who she was meeting. They would have never allowed her to go and if they did, it would probably be a trap for Lucius. She could deal with the scolding later but she needed to see Lucius, she couldn't just not meet him.
"Here," Lucius said only minutes after they met, giving her a tiny box. Jade opened it and tried hard not to cry but her hormones weren't really helping her.
"I thought it was supposed to be in the Malfoy family," she mumbled as she closed the box, set it on the table and moved it closer to Lucius.
"Well, you are my goddaughter, aren't you? And I'm the last Malfoy and I know I won't be alive for much longer. The Dark Lord is only keeping me alive so I can suffer. When he wants to find me he will. But anyway, Draco would want you to have it. He did care about you, Lexion threatened him, you know? Told him to stay away from Blood-Traitors. He was just eleven and Lex was fourteen or fifteen, but I know he cared, Jade. He didn't want to stop being friends with you. He told Narcissa how you looked after him when he was cursed… By Potter. He wanted to thank you. He left a letter for you. He wrote it probably when he just got home. A house-elf found it. So, here it is and this."
Real Jade saw Lucius was giving the other Jade an envelope and handed her back the tiny box with the same ring she was currently wearing and for once Real Jade broke down as Lucius hugged Jade. Even there, after everything they went through, Draco had cared about her. Their friendship had meant something.
Dumbledore had mentioned some of the people that would die in this reality but never thought Draco would die at only sixteen, only a day before his birthday.
"He is not really dead, Jade," real Harry said but Jade kept weeping, playing with the ring in her finger. Lucius and the other Jade had left quite a while ago but Jade had just lost it.
"I know, still hurts," Jade whispered.
"Let's go, let's see something else."
Dumbledore didn't die that May, however there were several attempts. Dumbledore did die in March 1998, at the hands of Lucius, who had managed to sneak into Hogwarts along with the Lestranges, Lexion, Cassius and Dolohov.
Lexion died in that battle, along with Harry's ex girlfriend and a fourth year Ravenclaw. Tonks, who was there, had killed Lex when he tried to attack Jade. Real Jade had to actually go somewhere else, away from that for a bit to calm down. Seeing Draco, Narcissa and Lexion dying was too hard.
They took a day off so Jade could somewhat recover from those hard blows. It was then when Harry noticed the ring on her finger but didn't even ask as he didn't want Jade to get upset again.
After that they travelled back to Hogwarts. McGonagall was the Headmistress for the rest of the year, which was really gloomy.
"Can I have that?" Harry asked Jade. Hesitantly she passed it to him. It was just about a month before school was over. "Grimmauld place."
Harry and Jade found themselves back in London. Sirius was downstairs, speaking to Remus and Leo was upstairs in a third room that was turned into his nursery. Harry walked inside.
The room was painted beige and one wall was brown. Little centaurs and hippogriffs were painted on the wall and Leo was written on golden above his crib.
Harry uncovered himself despite Jade's protests and stood right in front of the crib and saw that the baby was awake. He was quietly playing with a little stuffed dragon, a present from Ron. His bright green eyes found him and he giggled. Both Harries were about the same age at the moment and the baby thought that was his dad.
Harry couldn't resist, he leant down and picked up the boy that was around eight or nine months old at the moment. As he giggled he flashed two little teeth and a dimple.
Jade sighed and got the Invisibility Cloak off of her. The boy giggled harder at her, thinking they were playing with him.
"What are you doing?" Jade asked and Harry just shrugged.
"He's adorable, isn't he?" he said softly with a smile. "Who would have thought... we had a redhead son."
Leo's hair, which was just as messy as Harry's, was a light red shade. It was a perfect match with his green eyes that were just like Harry's. Maybe a little bit lighter.
"Well, it's not such a big surprise," Jade muttered. "Your mum was a redhead, so is my father. We both have the gene."
"Hmm, right. I didn't think of that."
"Dada," the boy repeated and Harry looked at the baby as if he wanted to cry.
"Yes, Leo," Harry whispered. He was too into the moment that he wasn't paying attention.
"Harry, quickly, put him back in the crib, someone's coming."
Harry just got under his Cloak as Sirius, followed by Remus, walked in. Sirius looked everywhere, even opened the wardrobe but no one was there or so he thought.
"Here," Remus said as he lifted the redhead baby. Remus in both realities had a baby at the same time, meaning his own child was only a month old.
The baby pointed where Harry and Jade were hiding and they both froze. Harry thought that Jade had stopped breathing. Luckily Remus turned around and looked out the window, trying to show the boy the birds and the clouds.
"So... you were telling me that you were concerned..." Remus said.
"Oh yeah, I know Harry has a mission. I think he won't stay around long. And Leonie will want to go with him... I'm scared for them. They are just kids... trying to save the world," Sirius said and for a moment he looked ten years older. "And Leonie isn't well. It's been hard on her. I think she hasn't accepted the fact that she is a mother now."
"Well, she's quite young," Remus said quickly. "And she's been away for most of the time at Hogwarts. Let her spend more time with Leo so she can bond with him and she'll eventually come around. She spent a month with him before going to school and then a few days for Christmas, now that she will graduate and be around, I think she will slowly ease into it and come to grips."
"I don't know. She isn't well, Remus. The Malfoys' deaths affected her a lot and now with her brother dead... McGonagall wrote to me. She said she is worried about her. She quitted the Quidditch team and spends most of the time in bed."
"She's got a tough life. She'll need time but she'll be okay. She is a strong girl. Three deaths in such a short period of time is not easy, especially for someone so young. Give her time, Sirius."
"How will she cope if Harry leaves her? Because of whatever he's got to do? She needs him, you know? And Leo needs them both... He already spent months without them."
"We'll all come and help, Sirius. With Leo and Leonie," Remus assured him. "Leo can play with Teddy and Tonks and Leonie get along well, despite the age difference. I'm sure Tonks will be more than glad to come."
"I'm worried about her," Sirius said.
"I know, we all are, but she'll be okay."
Harry and Jade spent a lot of their time at Grimmauld place. Their other selves actually took some time to care for Leo. Harry was more involved. Jade seemed distracted and sad.
They saw Leo's first birthday, all the Weasleys and members of the Order of the Phoenix were invited. And they spent Christmas at the Burrow, where they asked Ron to be Leo's Godfather and Tonks to be his Godmother. Both accepted happily.
During the following months things started to get bad. Voldemort took over the Ministry and there were more deaths and chaos all around the UK. He was getting stronger. Harry also sort of proposed to Jade after New Year.
"I know we can't actually get married because then they'd know about Leo, but we can have a ceremony with only close friends and just do something symbolic."
After they sort of got married, Harry left to look for the Horcruxes, leaving Jade behind with Leo. That helped her get mentally healthy again. Sirius was concerned at first but then saw she got stronger instead of more fragile. It was like the shock of being left behind with someone that depended on her sort of woke her up.
Leo was a beautiful toddler, as his hair got longer, it also got wavy, similar to Sirius', it reached past his chin. As he grew people could notice the resemblance to both, Jade and Lily Potter.
He was also quite skilled and showed magical abilities really early on. Sirius had gotten him a small broom just like he had done when Harry was a baby and he loved it.
Harry did come and go quite often, he didn't want Jade to think he had abandoned them. He stayed a whole month for Leo's second birthday and the boy spent most of the time with Harry.
This time when Harry left, Jade and Ron joined him, leaving Leo with Sirius and Tonks. Together they found the locket and destroyed it.
On their journey, they were found by Death Eaters. Turned out that Cassius had joined their troops and was about to kill Harry when Jade killed him. Jade had killed her ex-fiance.
Then a few months later they found themselves at Hogwarts, there was a big battle there. It was close to the end of the school year. Mr. Weasley and Neville lost their lives there.
But they managed to keep Hogwarts safe, Voldemort couldn't get whatever he wanted from there.
They returned to Grimmauld Place, where they were greeted by Leo, who ran to them. Harry picked him up and hugged him tightly. It didn't matter how bad the day, or weeks had been, the boy always made anything and everything better for Harry.
"I think we should stay home for a bit," Harry said to Jade, who looked confused at him. "The rest of the Order can keep looking and fighting him... but I think we are more needed here," Harry said, glancing at Leo, who hadn't let go of Harry.
Some months later they celebrated Leo's third birthday, he had gotten even more handsome. Even Real Jade was a bit overwhelmed with the gorgeous little boy that was supposed to be hers. His hair now was wavier and reached his shoulders.
Mid-October they were getting ready to leave again, just for a little bit. They were going to return to Hogwarts to see if they could find a Horcrux there.
They noticed that Jade was upstairs packing and getting ready or that's what she told Harry, who was downstairs speaking to Sirius and feeding Leo. Jade was pacing her room, real Jade and Harry didn't know why.
She took something from the desk and looked at it. They saw how her eyes got filled with tears and her hands shook so badly that she let the object fall to the ground. It was a pregnancy test.
Jade quickly wiped her tears, took a very deep breath and then went to wash her face. She grabbed her things, kicked the little stick, ending up in a corner, hidden under dirty laundry and went down to meet Harry.
Real Harry saw the test and turned to look at Jade, their other selves have already left. Sirius was downstairs with Leo. He looked angry.
"You knew you were pregnant and decided to go anyway!" Harry said quite loudly.
"Sirius is still here, you know?" Jade whispered, the cloak in her hands, ready to use it if needed.
"Jade!"
"What? You can't get angry at me for something I haven't actually done!" Jade exclaimed.
Harry looked upset but he knew she was right. Jade, at least that Jade hadn't done anything wrong but he couldn't help but feel outraged.
Harry had gotten attached to Leo and didn't take it too well, knowing Jade was jeopardising Leo's unborn sibling. But he had to remind himself he couldn't blame that Jade, but it was hard. As the days kept passing, he grew impatient and worried, often commenting he hoped that Jade and the baby were okay.
"Sirius! Sirius!" Harry screamed about two weeks later, he had apparated in the living room.
"What is it?" Sirius asked, alarmed. "Where's Leonie?"
"They took her, Sirius!" Harry muttered, crying. "I tried to save her but they just... I couldn't do anything!"
"Who? Who took her, Harry?"
"Finley and Raven Lias."
The whole Order of the Phoenix with the exception of Mrs. Weasley and Ginny were looking for Jade. The two Weasley women were looking after Leo.
Harry was told to not go look for her as he wouldn't concentrate and could get himself killed. Harry went to their room. He thought that she would want to return to a clean room. So he made the bed, put things away and put the laundry in a basket.
When he did, he felt something hard. He grabbed it and found the pregnancy test. He looked at it for five minutes straight and then started crying. Real Harry looked accusatively at Jade. It was really heartbreaking to see that. Jade was also sad but mostly annoyed, she was fed up with Harry blaming her for the decisions the other Jade had made.
The next day Harry found a second pregnancy test in her night table draw. He was so angry he let out a scream and threw the pregnancy test at a wall, breaking it.
Sirius rushed there and found Harry crying. He thought he was just sad about Jade's situation but as he walked to comfort Harry, he stepped on the already broken test and his face went pale.
Sirius knelt in front of Harry, who had taken off his glasses. He wiped the tears but more came. Sirius had gotten home an hour ago after a failed search for Jade.
"I didn't know," he stuttered.
"We'll find her, Harry," Sirius said.
"Why didn't she tell me? You're his adoptive father, you must know. You know her! She could have told me."
But Sirius couldn't answer him. The only reason he could think of was that she wanted to help Harry and with the news of her pregnancy no one would let her leave the house. But Sirius didn't tell him that, instead just hugged Harry until he didn't cry any more.
Harry spent some hours with Leo after that and then went to look for Jade with Sirius. They all looked for her for three weeks but there wasn't a single sign of her, until one day a letter was delivered to Harry.
Harry then went to the meeting point and saw his wife, all bruised and crying. Rodolphus Lestrange was holding her. Harry offered an exchange, him for her. By then, Lucius Malfoy was already dead, he was killed by Voldemort when he thought the Elder Wand belonged to him because he was the one who killed Dumbledore.
"You know what happens," Jade whispered. "We can go and skip this part if you want."
"No. I think we should see this."
Harry was ready to die. He was expecting it. He heard the words, not coming from Voldemort but a woman but he felt nothing. He opened his eyes to see Jade falling down to the ground, lifeless.
"No!" Harry ran to her and embraced her, shaking her a bit, not believing she was gone. Harry put a hand on her stomach and he could tell then that Jade had a small bump and he cried harder.
It was then when Real Jade understood Harry wasn't trying to save only her, but their unborn child as well. They both noticed Harry whispered a spell but they didn't know which one exactly, as he pointed his wand at the dead Jade. What was he even trying to do? Jade was gone.
Harry successfully killed Pansy, who was the one who killed Jade. Harry also killed Finley Lias but wasn't quick enough with Raven. Harry did give a good fight but he was eventually killed too.
It was Snape who found them, next to each other, dead, and let the members of the Order of The Phoenix know.
"Don't bury her yet," Snape said quickly as two members of the Order were lifting her body. "She's got a charm on. Something else is going on in here."
Sirius, Ron and Tonks helped with Leo. As their Godparents and Sirius as basically, his grandfather, felt responsible for the little boy. Ron used to say Leo was his son when people asked, just to keep him safe.
About four years later, seven-year old Leo was at the Burrow with Ron, Mrs. Weasley and Percy. It was Autumn and it was quite cold. Suddenly, Ron knew there was something wrong.
Within a couple of minutes the three of them were fighting Death Eaters but they were outnumbered and eventually they kidnapped Leo and killed Molly. Voldemort had found out the truth about Leo some time ago and had been looking for him. And as Dumbledore had told Jade, he didn't kill him just in case something could happen if he tried to harm the boy, so instead he kept him.
After the Death Eaters left, Harry and Jade were too stunned and it took them ten minutes to finally react. They decided that was enough for now, if they wanted to keep looking they would go back. Jade softly pressed the button and they were back at the tent, in their reality, Ron and Granger were looking at them. They seemed worried.
They were so exhausted they slept for almost twenty hours straight. When Jade woke up she saw a big white cake on the table. It said, Happy 17th Birthday, J.
Ron had gotten it for her when they were passed out, Jade hugged Ron and thanked him. As they ate, Harry was telling them most of what they saw.
"Lucius Malfoy killed You-Know-Who and Snape... I think he was good..." Harry said, confused.
Jade didn't think that was shocking which made Harry a bit annoyed. Jade knew stuff Harry didn't.
Jade kept mostly quiet as she was still processing some events. Like the fact she was pregnant when she died, or like she actually killed Cassius or that Draco died at sixteen. Just the memory brought tears to her eyes.
And she couldn't just forget Leo's face. Harry had told them how handsome and cute he was. Jade had to admit he was gorgeous. When he was seven, when he was taken, he was such an adorable little kid and from the little they could see, they noticed he was also well-behaved and helped around without being told. He was also very sweet.
"Jade?" Harry said later that night, Ron and Granger were sleeping, but Harry and Jade stayed up as they had woken up only five hours ago.
"Yeah?"
"Happy Birthday," Harry told her and hugged her tightly.
"Thanks, Harry," Jade said with a small smile.
Both were still tired, but they wanted to stay up for a bit and Jade wanted to be awake for the last hours of her birthday.
"I'm sorry about how I acted... I know you didn't do anything, I was just... you know, feeling like it was actually me in there. Like if my kid was actually taken away, like if I actually lost the love of my life and my other kid. I felt it, Jade. I wanted to stop hiding under the Cloak and do something."
"I understand. I knew what would happen but it's completely different to actually see it with your own eyes. I think you got more attached since you actually got involved. You hugged Leo, you talked to him a few times. You played with him and held him until he fell asleep. It's still hard... even when we both know that reality is not ours."
"You sure?"
"Why would you want that reality? We would die in approximately two years if I'm not wrong with the time," Jade said. "It can't happen any more though. Today means that it can't. We can have a kid and all that but I'm not underage so at least that part is not going to become true. And I'm relieved."
"You know that's not the part I mean. About us dying."
"Yeah…"
"Did you know you were... you know... when you died?"
"No, Dumbledore didn't tell me about it. I know I didn't do it, well basically it was me but you know what I mean. I still feel bad about its death, so I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause the death of two people, plus me. I'm sorry."
"It's alright. It's not happening, is it?" Harry said, scratching the back of his neck. "By the way, did Malfoy give you that ring? I noticed Lucius gave it to you in the other reality."
"Yeah, Draco gave it to me for Christmas," Jade said, looking down at the ring and soon her eyes filled with tears.
"Sorry. I know Malfoy is your best friend, I didn't mean to upset you," Harry said quickly. "But he's not dead, Jade. Not here. He's alright."
Harry went to sleep and Jade stayed up until sunrise. They moved somewhere else, this time by apparating as now it was one hundred percent sure that Jade didn't have the trace. After they settled Harry and Jade went back to sleep.
