Jade now divided her time in four. Twenty-five percent in the library, twenty-five percent of the time going through the school looking for the Horcrux, this time with a Basilisk fang, she somehow got into the chamber of Secrets by repeating the phrase Harry had taught her, and she hoped the Horcrux could feel the danger and that she could feel its presence. The other twenty-five percent she spent it playing some Quidditch as a distraction, showing up to meals, sleeping and talking to Firenze and the rest of the time she spent it visiting Leo.

Draco knew she had a son with Harry in this other reality but he didn't know Jade had actually met him, actually talked to him. Draco had noticed she was more tired than usual and prepared this potion quite often. He knew it was to get energy for time-travel but he didn't know how often she was doing it and the reason behind what she was doing.

So far Jade had found out that Leo didn't really remember much of his life before he was abducted. He remembered certain events and some people but it was foggy. He didn't remember his parents at all, which was understandable. They died when he was three.

He remembered Sirius, and his grandmother aka Mrs. Weasley the most. But nothing was too concrete in his mind.

She also knew that Voldemort didn't want him to go to Hogwarts. Amycus and Alecto were his teachers, but it was Rabastan Lestrange who actually cared for him, the one who made sure he ate and had everything he needed. Which was quite bizarre as he never had children and as far as Jade knew, he never wanted children or cared about kids. Maybe he cared because there was a possibility he knew Leo was the son of his niece.

Not many people knew he was actually Harry's son, not even most of the Death Eaters. The Lestranges knew for sure. Snape knew too.

"There was one time, I fell from my broom and somehow I grabbed the end of another broom. It was from a player from the other team," Jade said as she chuckled. "The guy tried to push me off but a bludger hit him and I kept his broom and got to finish the match, we won that time."

Leo was interested the most in Jade's Quidditch stories. They spent a lot of time speaking about Quidditch. Leo had never watched a match but he had read about it in some book.

"I bet you would be good," Jade said with a smile.

"I've never used a broom, though," Leo said disappointed.

"You can learn easily and don't say never because when you were two you actually got one as a prese..." Jade immediately shut up. She let out too much. She knew Sirius had given him a toy broom when he was a toddler. "Uh, anyway. It's not hard. It might be scary, but you get used to it. And you feel free. You know? It's a very nice feeling."

Jade kept telling him stories, somehow without revealing her house. She had been sorted in Slytherin but Leo's mother was in Gryffindor. So she still kept that as a secret, she didn't want to lie and mess things up.

"Leo... is the Dark Lord... your father?" Jade asked him one day. She was curious to know what he had been told and what he believed.

"No. He just took me in," Leo said. "Very kind of him."

"Kind?" Jade asked outraged but tried to keep her temper under control.

"Yeah, he could have left me there but he didn't. I don't see him often though. He's always busy."

"What happened to your parents? Do you remember?"

"No, but I've been told stuff. My father was a coward and abandoned my mother and then my mother apparently was too young and abandoned me," Leo said, feeling uncomfortable and ashamed. "Severus has told me they died but everyone else says they were cowards and left. Never really loved me. Neither of them."

Jade had to look down to hide her teary eyes, she didn't speak for a long time as she knew her voice would break. Normally, she wasn't like that. She could be falling apart but nobody would be able to tell as she kept a strong, neutral face. At the moment she wasn't sure why she was so close to crying, if it was from sadness or anger. She guessed it was mostly anger.

"Who do you believe?"

"Severus has told me lots of things and his story fits but it's hard to believe him when everyone else tells you a different story."

"What about Sirius? Or Molly?"

"I don't remember. I guess I became too much of a burden and they abandoned me too."

"I'm sure that's not true. I know them and they loved you a lot."

"Loved... not love."

"I said loved because Molly died, Leo. Sirius is still alive, looking for you. That's why they don't want you to go to Hogwarts because they would know you are alive and where you are. The Dark Lord doesn't want that. He can't risk losing you."

"What are you saying?"

"He took you away, Leo. He didn't 'kindly take you in' as you were made to believe. I know it's hard to accept it but it's the truth. And your mum and dad... they did everything to keep you safe. They didn't abandon you."

"Where are they, then?"

Jade was about to speak when she had to leave because Alecto walked into the room. Jade was back in Hogwarts, feeling broken. Her body was shaking from the rage she felt inside and she had tears in her eyes, wishing she could hug Leo, make him feel loved and being able to tell him all the truth.

Later that night, Draco could notice something was bothering her. She hadn't moved for at least an hour from the place in front of the fireplace, it seemed like she had adopted characteristics of her owl self, not moving at all for long periods of time while being one.

"You okay?"

Jade jumped and let out a little gasp. She took deep breaths to calm herself when she saw it was just Draco.

"Sorry," he said quickly. She went back to staring at the fire, not noticing Draco had sat down in the other armchair. "Jade... I know you have been busy with whatever you are doing but you don't seem okay now."

"Why would you make a little boy believe that everyone that once loved him abandoned him?"

"Well, so he could feel alone. Hatred. I bet he would hate everyone who apparently abandoned him, right? He would be resentful. Whoever told him that, did it to hurt him but if he is kind to him, he wants to earn his trust. If he isn't, he just did it to make him suffer and feel alone, like he's got no one. Why?"

"Don't get angry at me," Jade said with a very deep sigh. "But I've seen Leo... he thinks I abandoned him. He was told that."

"Jade, he is not real."

"But he is, Draco. Somewhere, he does exist and he thinks his parents didn't love him enough to keep him and take care of him."

"And you want to make it better?"

"Yes, and I want to know why... why not say that we died?"

"Why do you keep saying we?"

"Do you want me to say Jade and Harry version two, then?" Jade said, annoyed. "Actually they are the original version, I'm version two… So, why would he lie about that?"

"Like I said... create hatred... He'd hate you and anything you represent."

"So, when the time comes he chooses darkness over good..." Jade suddenly said, remembering Firenze's words. "Because the good side abandoned him but the darkness took him in. Oh my God, Draco! He is grooming him."

"What are you talking about?"

"Draco, if he chooses darkness he will become the next Dark wizard. And he will be more powerful than the actual one."

"Jade..."

"No... the prophecy says it."

"Don't do anything stupid!" Draco exclaimed as Jade stood up. "You aren't supposed to mess with time."

"I don't want my son to become evil and resentful!" Jade exclaimed, taking Draco by surprise. He wasn't used to Jade calling Leo her son. "And he will eventually be defeated! He will suffer and die, Draco!

"Jade, that isn't your reality! You don't have a son here! Don't mess with things you don't understand!"

"Dumbledore did!"

"Yes and he shouldn't have. That was very foolish of him."

"Even if that meant I'd be with Harry right now and not here with you... You wouldn't even be here... you would be dead. I saw you die!"

"Even so..."

"Don't lie, Draco. You are glad you aren't dead. I'm glad too."

"Of course I'm happy I'm alive but still, Jade… Dumbledore was as people say, the greatest but he should have known better, even him, shouldn't have mingled with time. Shouldn't have changed a thing."

"Knowledge is power... Dumbledore said that. I know all of this and I can do something about it." Draco was going to interrupt her when Jade spoke again. "Do you want to meet him? See him?"

"Uh, we really shouldn't..."

"Let's go!"

Jade didn't take Draco to meet nine-year-old Leo, but two-year-old Leo. Jade caught Draco smiling a couple of times as he looked at the toddler. Harry and Jade, and Sirius were there so they stayed hidden most of the time with the help of a spell.

Draco looked uncomfortable, though, when he saw the other Jade being kissed by Harry. He tried to look away but every once in a while, he would glance at them.

"This would be my life if Dumbledore hadn't change anything," Jade whispered. "And you would have no life. You are dead in this reality right now."

"Can't we just go?" Draco whispered. Jade got the object out of her pocket and showed Draco some other times but then took him back to Hogwarts.

"He exists, Draco, and he is suffering. Just because he isn't here, it doesn't mean he only exists in my head and doesn't feel pain." Jade said simply before she went to bed.

Her dreams though, weren't good. She kept having the same dream about the baby. Except this time, Jade was the one taking the baby from her mother's grip. She looked down and saw that the baby had blue eyes, but it was just a newborn so those eyes could eventually change to green or a lighter shade of blue.

Jade was about to kill it when she woke up. She was sweating so much that her shirt was all wet. She took it off, put on another one and washed her face.

It was 5:00, so Jade decided to stay up. She opened a book to keep reading about Helena Ravenclaw and see if they mentioned anything special that she possessed, but so far they had only mentioned her daughter and her accomplishments.

Jade played some quidditch that night, pretended to be a good captain and then visited Leo. It was the third visit since they had been interrupted. Jade noticed Leo had some bruises.

"What happened?"

"Amycus punished me because I couldn't do a spell right," Leo admitted.

Jade noticed that Leo was scared as she took a step forward. She stopped and instead offered him her hand and with trembling fingers, he took it. Jade took her wand out and Leo winced, but soon he realised Jade wasn't hurting him, she was healing him.

"I'm just taking the pain away," Jade informed him. "If they don't see the bruises, they'll start to get suspicious. So you might look bad but the pain will be gone."

"And it's really gone, I don't feel anything."

Jade smiled and both sat on the floor, Leo eventually lied down, looking up at her as she once again told him stories. Leo then sat up again and looked nervously at her.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yes."

"You already said you aren't a ghost, right?" Jade nodded. "What are you then?"

"What do you mean?"

"I talked to Severus... I told him that I thought I had remembered something of my past, that my real parents hadn't abandoned me but I couldn't be sure as I don't really know what they looked like," Leo said. "He brought me a picture from the Daily Prophet... he showed me my father. To be honest he was completely different from what I imagined..."

"How was he different?"

"I don't know, I always thought he was like mean looking, kind of rough as homeless people. But he looked decent, even nice."

"What about your mother?" Jade asked nervously.

"That's the thing... she looks exactly like you do," Leo said, looking intensively at Jade. "I mean, we even have the same eyes, you and I, don't we? I will stop pretending I haven't noticed that because that was the first thing I saw when I met you. But you can't be my mum... You are just like the girl in the picture, identical. But if you were my mum... wouldn't you be dead? Or at least a little bit older? You told me you were seventeen so you can't be her... unless you are my sister… or my mum's ghost..."

Jade could see how troubled Leo was, his eyes were shining from the tears that were filling them and his lips were trembling a bit. Her heart raced. She was dreading that moment and it came sooner than what she wanted. She wasn't prepared, or was she?

"Okay, this is going to be hard and confusing but I'll explain. When I said your parents didn't abandon you, Leo, it's because I know for sure that they would never do it. Ever! They did die, trying to save the whole world, but most importantly to save you," Jade said. "And I look just like your mum because I'm your mum."

"But you are saying that you died... but you are here... that doesn't make any sense."

"I can get in this place because I'm actually not from this world... this version of life. I come from another reality where you don't exist. That's why I'm still alive. I haven't died. It's only nineteen ninety-eight where I come from. I'm seventeen years old. My birthday was a month ago. I was given something to travel time and I came here and saw you growing up... I got involved. I saw myself dying, Leo. Harry, your dad, I saw him die too. We'd never abandon you, things just got bad and we couldn't survive," Jade said crying now. "This should be my reality but someone changed it and it isn't anymore but I got curious. I wanted to meet you. I wanted to see if you were okay."

"So... you are actually my mother?"

"Technically, yes. In this reality I am. It's confusing, I know. I wanted to make sure you didn't feel alone, that you didn't feel unloved. Because you are loved, Leo. By the way, you are named after me, if you didn't know."

"Am I?" Jade nodded. "Severus said something..."

"Yeah... now listen. I can't get you out because I don't know how yet but I'm working on it. I'd take you to Sirius. Probably talk to Ron so he can help."

"What about you?"

"I can't stay forever. If I do, I'd die. Time-travel takes a lot of energy from you, that's why I keep coming and going. I shouldn't be here but you are mine... I couldn't just see you and not do anything."

"How do I know you are actually my mother?"

"Ask Severus stuff. Read stuff in old Daily Prophets. Don't say my name though, you aren't supposed to know it. And apparently over here no one called me Jade, anyway," Jade then took off a small chain with a green J on it. "Ask him if he knows if that was your mother's. I stopped wearing it in my first year in this reality because I wasn't a Slytherin and the green symbolises Slytherin. You had one like that, it was silver with an L instead of a J."

"Okay," Leo said, putting it in his pocket.

"Do you trust Severus?"

"Yes."

"Okay," Jade said, nodding. "I'll be back tomorrow. To give you time to ask him stuff. But be careful, okay?"

"Yeah."

"Bye, Leo."

Jade was too overwhelmed to return the following night to the tower where Leo lived. It didn't make a difference though. She could spend a year without seeing him and it wouldn't matter, as time didn't pass by like that. She only needed to choose the date and time and that was it. She could travel to that specific time at any time, even as many times as she wanted.

Jade couldn't even concentrate on her books, she was researching Helena Ravenclaw and possibly a way to get Leo out, but her head was a mess, so instead she played some quidditch and flew around in her owl form. Tried to look for the Horcrux but still no luck.

February came to an end, Jade knew she was running out of time. She promised Harry she wouldn't be gone for more than a month or two.

Draco had invited her to go to his house for the Easter holidays, and any other time she would have gladly accepted. This time though, she was scared and nervous. Draco told her that Narcissa knew of what had happened but Lucius didn't.

Voldemort wasn't there at the Malfoy Manor as he had been away quite often, even out of the country. So she would be safe and her parents wouldn't know. Bellatrix and Rodolphus promised to not say anything or intervene and they accepted... sort of.

On the train ride, as she had nothing to do but freak out inside, she decided to finally meet Leo again. She returned two days after they last talked.

As a precaution, Jade always used a Disillusionment charm in case someone else could be in the room and then used a spell to show her if another living creature was there, hiding, but Leo was alone, reading a book. She lifted the charm and Leo smiled when he saw her.

For the first time, Leo ran to her and gave her a tight hug. Jade was shocked but soon hugged him back. Leo was probably a head and a half shorter than Jade and he was quite skinny. He was also very pale from always being indoors.

"Hey!" Jade said cheerfully. "How've you been?"

"I've been good. What took you so long?"

"Uh, wanted to give you time so you could talk to Severus... I could tell you didn't believe me and I don't blame you... I wouldn't believe it either."

"Yeah, I could talk to him. I showed him the chain and he showed me a picture of you when you were in your first year. You were wearing it. He came earlier today with some more stuff. Said Sirius had them stored. Showed me lots of pictures of you... some of you and ... dad?"

"Yeah," Jade said, understanding it must feel weird to call some strangers mum and dad.

"But he said I should ask you three questions to make sure it's really you and not an impostor."

"Okay, go ahead," Jade said nervously. After all, she wasn't the Jade that had him and raised him for three years.

"How and when did Harry propose?"

"A few months after your first birthday, and he didn't really propose. He said he knew we couldn't get married as it would get registered but he wanted to marry me. We had a small party to sort of get married without legally doing it, you know?"

"Okay... What was my first and second word?"

"Padfoot... which isn't a surprise. We were at school for the first few months after you were born, so you didn't see us much," Jade said. "And your second was bloom... but you meant broom."

"Right... You did something before you left our house the last time you left. Before you... died. What was it?"

"I left a letter to Harry... I asked him not to save me if I got caught... but that was actually me... not the Jade from this version as she didn't know anything. It was on the pillow. Guess he never read it or didn't care," Jade told him. Also left a letter for you in my vault in gringotts. On the envelope it says that you should read it at the age of ten. I wrote it when you were only six months old. But I told Sirius about it when I left that time. Those were the last words I said to him. 'I've got something for Leo in Gringotts, make sure he gets it.' And then I felt."

"What did the letter say?"

"That I was scared. That I didn't feel confident or ready to be your mum but that I loved you so, so much. And I asked you to forgive me for my mistakes. I bet I did a lot, I was young. I also said that if for any reason I wasn't around, that I wanted you to know that I was proud of you."

"Yeah, you got it all right, but I also have a personal question. When I was three and you left, you put me in my crib and said something to me? What was it?"

"Something along the lines of 'I think the reason I was so scared since you were born it's because you were pure love. And I wasn't sure if I was capable of giving you the amount of love you deserved and was scared of not being able to handle so much love, as I've never had so much," Jade said with tears. "Then I kissed you on the forehead and told you that you were the one I loved the most and then I felt."

Jade's voice broke. She hadn't said those words, the other Jade had but she had felt them right in her heart. That's why she remembered them. Jade had cried silently when she heard them, Harry never noticed. He was still too angry about the positive pregnancy test.

That's why Jade didn't get involved as Harry did. Every word the other Jade said, applied to her as well. She was scared. Leo was pure love, no interest, no hypocrisy, no fake intentions, just love, and she didn't know how to handle that. Jade wasn't properly loved when she was a baby, she wasn't hugged or kissed or appreciated and she was scared of not knowing how to do it right, she wasn't even sure if she was capable, so she kept her distance while Harry couldn't contain himself.

Jade wiped a tear at the same time Leo hugged her again. That show of affection made her cry harder. Before, when he was only a toddler, she was always guarded but she faced her biggest fear, real love, and realised she was capable of being loved for real and loving so strongly she felt like exploding inside, in a good way.

"Can I tell you something?" Jade nodded. "The first time I saw you, I knew you were my mum... I remember that last day. I remember your face perfectly. Dad's not so much. And Severus had always said I got your eyes...that gave you away… that's why I asked if you were a ghost," Leo said. "And I could feel it. A connection between you and me. Could you?"

"Yeah," Jade nodded.

"Is it okay if I keep calling you Jade for a bit? It feels weird to call you mum when you are only a few years older than me, and I've never called someone mum...I don't remember doing it."

"That's alright," Jade said. "But you know it's me and I'll always come to see you and I will find a way to get you out of here. I promise."

"I always knew... just didn't want to get my hopes high... just in case."

"My sweet boy," Jade said and kissed the top of his head.

Jade felt weird feeling that kind of love. She went from this teenager that only cared about Quidditch, to a girl that wanted to help save the world, to something close to a mother.

It was even more odd because she never gave birth to him but he was her son and she could feel it inside of her, somehow. And he could feel it too. She wasn't there for him, only saw some parts of his life, as a guest of some sort, but never got involved, not like Harry had done on a few occasions. But she loved that boy. She would give anything for that boy. She couldn't even describe it as she had never felt something so strong. It really scared her and overwhelmed her but she wouldn't have it any other way.
