Jade had gotten inside the house shortly after Harry did. Her hair was wet so she went straight to the bathroom to dry herself and change into fresh clothes. As she stood in front of the mirror while brushing her hair, she looked at her reflection and she couldn't help but remember the fear in her aunt's eyes and voice and that made her think about how similar she was to Bellatrix even when they weren't related by blood.

And she didn't mean only physically... Narcissa had pointed out similarities before, even when her sister was still locked up. Jade couldn't agree or disagree as she hadn't met Bellatrix then but she knew her aunt was insane so she didn't like when Narcissa or even her own mother compared her to Auntie Bella. And after her fourth year at Hogwarts she found the comparison an insult but wouldn't express it outloud.

After she finally met Bellatrix, Jade could see the similarities but wouldn't accept them. She even would subconsciously stop doing certain habits, like touching her fingertips with her thumb in awkward situations, because she had seen Bellatrix doing them. But as she stood in front of that mirror she couldn't keep denying them and she hated it.

Jade wasn't mad as Bellatrix but when she was younger she could be ruthless if she wanted to and she was skillful like her. There was almost no match for her, talking about people around her age, of course.

Bellatrix sometimes laughed when there was danger as if it was just a game... she never seemed to be scared. Even when Harry crucioed her at the Ministry, she didn't show anger, or fear or pain or anything and Jade was like that. Or used to be like that.

It was a scary thought, to be so alike in personality to someone who was crazy and didn't care about life. She killed without regrets and tortured without flinching. Jade wasn't like that but yet, she was a lot alike to her.

Jade didn't know much about Draco's grandparents, the Blacks. But she assumed they raised their daughters in a similar way to how she had been raised. Jade could remember how she practically was numb for years, she wouldn't feel a thing because all she felt was pain and sadness and disappointment and rejection, so it was better to not feel anything at all, including the good feelings.

Could that have been the case for Bellatrix? She shut off her feelings until she didn't feel at all? And was so hungry for the approval of someone so evil because she never got it at home? She became Voldemort's favourite and she was so proud of it because for once she was a number one?

If Jade had kept her feelings bottled in and just dismissed her wants and aspirations, could she have ended up like Bellatrix? Only caring about success and being the best, being the most powerful, being the one that no one could hurt. The one that laughed at danger and little by little losing the little sanity that was left.

As she thought of all of that, and even about how cold Rodolphus and Bellatrix were to each other, like a business partnership not a marriage, something she wouldn't have wanted to have with Cass, Jade stopped feeling anger and repulsion towards her aunt and started to feel sad for her.
Yes, she had made decisions and killed people and that wasn't okay and that wasn't the bit that made Jade sad but what pushed her towards that. She probably lost herself since she was too young and as the eldest, all the pressure was on her. Jade could have lost herself and she was actually close to it but she was so grateful that her blindfold was taken off and she saw the world differently, and most importantly, she started to feel again.

Jade would rather be out in the battlefield, fighting for a good cause, for her friends, for her family, for goodness, and die out there, even before turning twenty than living a miserable life, being a slave to an evil man and live a life in black and white, without a single feeling, without joy or happiness, or feeling loved. The only feeling she would get was hunger for acceptance and wanting to make people proud of her, and by not getting it she would only get way more and more frustrated and numb.

In the other reality, Jade knew the meaning of love and friendship since she was very young and here, Jade had to fight against what she was taught and struggled to accept what was really important and what was not. Jade knew that if she hadn't befriended Ron in the fourth year, she would have been a lost cause, she would have become her aunt. She would have ended up like her brother. She even remembered very clearly something Ron told her shortly after the kiss situation when they were just starting to get along.

"It's okay to feel something you know? It doesn't make you pathetic or weak… or whatever you were told. It makes you a normal person."

"I want to be extraordinary, though."

"No, Jade," she spoke out loud as she opened her eyes and the flashback vanished from her mind. "You don't want to be extraordinary. It's better to be normal."

Who knew that it would take her three years or so to understand that, if only she could tell her younger self that.

That night, instead of joining everyone, Jade walked outside and stayed there, close to the house, though. She didn't want to be too far in the dark. She brought a sheet to place over the sand to sit on it, and a blanket to wrap around her body. She was thankful the temperatures weren't too low, she needed to be out there, she needed some alone time to think.

Harry joined her about two hours after dinner was over, she had been out almost as long as that. He was devastated by Dobby's death and Jade couldn't sleep thinking of Draco. The others were too exhausted that some didn't even stay up for dinner.

"I know you know, Harry," Jade said suddenly. "We must do something almost impossible."

"We?" Harry asked.

"You need me," Jade said, but her voice didn't sound arrogant. Her tone was soft and kind, offering her help, but only someone who really knew Jade could notice the hurt in her voice, even a bit of fear. "We must go to my aunt's vault. My aunt's. Maybe I can fool them somehow. The Lias Vault is right next to hers."

"Why do you think we should do that?" Harry asked, trying to not reveal that he also was thinking the same thing.

"I know my aunt, even though she has been gone most of my life. It's not hard to get to know her when you spend a few days with her. How scared she was... that's not like her. And it wasn't about the sword... or her gold. After being in Azkaban for so long she doesn't care about her fortune anymore. There's something else in there...besides a fake sword."

"I was thinking that too, there is something else in there," Harry admitted. "How do you know there's still a fake there?"

"The sword had been in Dumbledore's office for a long time, then Ginny, Neville and Luna tried to steal it, they thought it was the real one. It was gone after that, since early November or so... Now I know Snape sent it to Bellatrix. The fake one," Jade said. "I saw the real one before I left Hogwarts."

"Where? So you are assuming Snape knew the other one was a fake?"

"Yes, I'm assuming he knew, even when the Goblings think he never had a clue," Jade said, remembering he heard something on that radio station Ron used to listen to. "I'm almost a hundred percent sure that he knew and whatever he did was on purpose."

"You haven't answered me... where did you see it? How do you know that was the real one? The one we've got now."

"Because you destroyed the Horcrux with it," Jade said with a shrug. "The fake one wouldn't have been able to even scratch the thing."

"Where did you see it before?" Harry asked again and gave her a look, she sighed. "Why were you so certain we had the real one?"

Jade looked at the moonlight reflecting on the ocean in front of them. There was a full moon, which made everything light enough. It would have been such a beautiful view and a relaxing moment if the events of the last hours weren't tormenting them, reminding them that they were never completely safe.

"Because I pulled it out of the hat," Jade whispered, finally looking at Harry and not at the sea. Harry suddenly remembered when he did the same thing in their second year and Dumbledore explained why he could get the sword and what it was.

"And you didn't tell me this before because…?"

"I didn't think it was important. The sword was in Hogwarts. Nothing had changed and back then... you didn't know about the prophecy. How could I explain I got the sword when I'm a Slytherin? You wouldn't have believed me."

"Okay, fair enough," Harry said. "So what happened afterwards?"

"After I pulled it out? I killed the beast with it, then Snape took it. I don't know what happened to it after that."

"Wait, what beast?"

"I guess I haven't told you that bit, it's not really that important."

"We've got time and I want to know."

Jade told Harry about the infamous siblings and how they tortured everyone for pleasure and that she couldn't hurt Neville in class when they practicing curses so she was punished. Then she told him the story when she was locked up and how she got the sword.

The more she told Harry, the more he asked and the more Jade revealed of things that happened while she was away. Harry also told her what had happened after she left and how they ended up captured and taken to the Malfoys. Before they knew, it was getting light and the night was coming to an end way too quickly.

"We should get inside."

"No," Jade said. "I don't know when I'll be able to see the sunrise at a beach while not running for my life or being afraid of what could be out there, hunting us. So, I'll enjoy it while it lasts."

"Okay, you are right."

Once it was completely light, both of them walked back into the house, Jade had the blanket around her and Harry the sheet. After both of them had a small and quick breakfast with Ron, Jade and Ron accompanied Harry to talk to Griphook. Granger was still in a bad state, but she would be alright, she only needed to rest a bit more. Ron still didn't have any idea that Harry wanted to get into Bellatrix Lestrange's vault, and he was shocked when Harry said it to the goblin.

"Don't you think it's crazy?" Ron asked Jade, looking for support.

"Actually, Harry and I agreed that we must do it."

"You have no chance at all," Griphook said.

"Listen to him, guys!" Ron exclaimed.

"What do you seek within the Lestranges' Vault? The sword that lies inside it's a fake. This is the real one. You know that already." Harry and Jade gazed at each other. "We have a duty to the objects placed in our care."

"Will you help us?" Harry asked, impatiently. "You're our one chance."

"I shall think about it."

Harry nodded, Ron and Jade left the room before Harry, who closed the door behind him, so the goblin could rest. They got into Granger's room so Harry wouldn't explain twice.

Jade explained to them why they thought there was a horcrux in there, even Harry, who wasn't family, could notice how weird Bellatrix's behaviour was.

"But weren't we looking for places You-Know-Who's been? Places that mean something to him? Was he ever inside the Lestranges' Vault?"

"I don't even think he was ever inside Gringotts as he was left with nothing," Harry said. "I think he envied anyone who had a vault. He probably saw it as a connection to the wizarding world. And the Lestranges were his most devoted servants. He trusted them."

"But I doubt he told Bellatrix that it was a Horcrux. He'd never trust anyone that much," Jade said. "I mean, remember Lucius Malfoy. He gave the diary to him and never told him how important it was."

"Exactly. Probably just asked her to keep it in her vault as Gringotts is the safest place for anything you want to hide. Hagrid told me that," Harry said.

"Wow, you really understand him," Ron muttered, being both surprised but a bit scared.

Harry ignored that and then asked them to follow him to talk to Mr. Ollivander, who was in the bedroom next to Griphook. Harry knocked and they heard the weak voice from the old man, telling them to go in.

"Mr. Ollivander, I need some help."

"Anything."

First, Harry asked if he could mend his wand, which wasn't possible. Harry put it away, getting sad all over again, and then took out two other wands, and asked him if he could identify them. The old man examined the first wand and then put it next to his ear, as if he was listening to it.

"This wand belonged to Bellatrix Lestrange," he said and then took the second wand and repeated the process. "This was the wand of Draco Malfoy."

Jade was about to grab that wand to keep it safe and give it back to him whenever she would see him again when Harry spoke. "Was?"

"If you took it by force..."

"I did. Can I use it safely?" Jade looked at Harry in a disapproving way, no one noticed though.

"I think so. The conquered wand will usually bend its will to its new master."

"Can a person still use a wand that hasn't chosen them, though?"

"Yes, the best results, however, must always come where there is the strongest affinity. You ask deep questions, Mr. Potter. Wandlore is complex and mysterious."

"So, it isn't necessary to kill the previous owner to take true possession of a wand?" Jade asked then, understanding that Draco's wand wasn't Draco's anymore.

"No, it's not necessary to kill."

"But there are legends... about a wand that have passed from hand to hand by murder," Harry suddenly said and Ollivander got pale as he nodded. "And You-Know-Who is after it, isn't he?"

"How... how do you know this?"

"He wanted to overcome the connection between our wands. You told him about the twin cores and to fix the problem, he only needed to borrow another wizard's wand."

"He tortured me. I had no choice."

"We aren't judging you," Jade said quickly.

"It didn't work though," Harry went on. "Mine still beat the borrowed wand. It broke the other one. Do you know why?"

"I had never heard of such a thing. Connection of the twin cores is incredibly rare. I don't know why your wand snapped the borrowed wand. Since the moment he knew of the twin cores, he's been seeking another, more powerful wand."

"The Elder Wand," Harry said. "And do you think this wand exists?"

"Absolutely, it's possible to trace its course through history, there are gaps, long ones sometimes, but it always resurfaces."

"You told You-Know-Who that Gregorovitch had it, didn't you?"

"It was a rumour," he muttered, turning even paler. "Gregorovitch himself started it."

"Thank you, we'll leave you to get some rest," Harry said and stood up.

"He tortured me! The Cruciatus Curse! You have no idea!" he exclaimed.

"I do, I really do" Jade said suddenly. "We understand."

The three of them left the room without another word, Mr. Ollivander was already too upset by their talk. And every time that curse was brought up in conversation, Jade also got upset and awkward.

Harry then told them he needed to tell them things but no one could hear those things so all of them walked outside to the garden, not far from Dobby's grave. There, Harry told them that he had been having visions. That Gregorovitch did in fact have the Elder Wand but Grinderwald stole it from him.

"Grindelwald became powerful then. Dumbledore duelled him, knowing he was the only one who could stop him. He beat him and then he took the Elder Wand."

"Dumbledore had the Elder Wand?" Ron asked. "Where is it now then?"

"Hogwarts," Harry said without a doubt.

"Let's go then!" Ron said.

"It's too late," Harry said. "He knows where it is, he's there right now."

"If you had told me, I'd have gone for it!" Jade exclaimed, knowing she could perhaps go back to Hogwarts without a problem.

But Harry wasn't listening anymore, he had let himself slip into Voldemort's mind. When both Ron and Jade realised he wasn't mentally there with them anymore, Jade started to read his mind, it was completely unprotected so Jade was seeing the same thing Harry was seeing without a problem, without a fight back, and as she saw the events unfold, she was telling Ron about it, so he wouldn't miss out.

"He is breaking Dumbledore's tomb. Dumbledore has the wand in his hand and now he's taken it from him," Jade told him. "He has gotten it."

Jade was disappointed, Ron was upset. Thinking that they should have gone and gotten it instead of talking to a Goblin and Mr. Ollivander. Harry tried to tell himself and the others that Dumbledore didn't want them to find it, he wanted them to destroy the Horcruxes. But Ron and Jade weren't too convinced.

Granger, who had been eventually told what happened, now believed the Elder Wand and the other two Hallows were real, and said it was an evil object and it was good they didn't go get it, especially by how Voldemort had gotten it, which was repulsive. And at her words, Jade was a bit relieved she wasn't asked to go get it as opening a tomb and seeing a body wasn't something she could have forgotten easily. It would have scarred her.

That night, the four of them had lots of things on their minds, but Jade had one or two more than the others. Ilvie was coming and going to look after the baby that somehow, nobody had noticed. Bill and Fleur obviously knew as they put him in the smallest room of the house that was a study, on the ground floor. Luna sometimes went inside the room but it seemed like no one paid attention to her, as she was believed to be a bit insane, and everyone was worrying about things.

Jade went inside the room that night and saw Luna holding the boy, Jade offered her a smile as soon as the younger girl looked up at her. Luna seemed tired and worried, her usual spark was gone.

"Have you thought about what you are going to do?" The blonde just shook her head.

"Bill told me that my dad is in prison, and I can't go back home. They'd get me. It's not safe. Besides, they captured me there, I only have bad memories from that place now, I don't want to go back there, especially alone. So I've got no idea. I don't know what to do or where to go."

"My house-elf, she can help you," Jade said. "Won't give you a place to go but if you need to leave him while you do something she can lend you a hand. Or if you just want to rest or anything, she will help you. She is under my power, I'm her mistress and I have ordered her to help you and to obey you."

"That's not necessary," Luna said quickly, a bit uncomfortable.

"She is not mistreated, I respect her and I treat her well. So, don't feel bad about her helping you. She rather be here and being useful that being in my house, surrounded by bad people. So please, have her around. She is lovely and she will take good care of him."

"Thank you." Luna nodded and suddenly she looked as if she was about to break down.

"And don't forget... the dad's family can help you too," Jade said quickly, knowing they would never refuse to help a friend, especially family. They had helped her and offered her support in more than one occasion. "Luna... Granger, Ron, Harry and I will have to leave soon, and you should probably tell him before we go... maybe he'd like to know the truth and spend some time with him before he goes."

"What if he doesn't want to?" Luna asked as he looked down at the baby in her arms. "I don't want to take the concentration from whatever you guys are doing."

"If I was him, I'd like to know. And it's Ron… he might be a bit distracted but he is not a jerk. He will want to see him and he won't miss the chance to meet him. I don't want to be negative but we all know that tomorrow might never come for any of us and that puts things into perspective, you know? So, tell him Luna, the sooner the better."

Jade, seeing the baby, felt like visiting Leo. So, after dinner time, she went upstairs and took the reality-turner. She quickly put it into her pocket and went to one of the bathrooms upstairs. She locked the door and got the object out and within seconds she was with Leo.

The little boy, like last time, hugged her tightly as soon as he saw her. He looked at her with concern in his green eyes, though. She promised him she was okay, but she really wasn't. She was scared for Draco, but he didn't need to know that. He didn't even know who Draco was.

Jade had actually gotten a version of the tales of the three brothers and read the story to Leo. He rested his head on her lap and listened. Jade couldn't believe that now in the other reality, they were chasing those objects and the story wasn't a story, it was real.

Leo wasn't a young kid but he was never told stories before, so he actually enjoyed it. Sometimes, Jade wondered what it was to have loving parents, as they never tucked her in or read her a story or comforted her when she had had a bad dream, or healed her whenever she injured herself, the house-elves did that, or took her to the park to have fun or anything like that so she didn't want Leo to wonder about that too. He had wondered the same thing for way too long.

Leo got into bed when she had finished. Jade put the covers over him and kissed the top of his head, and brushed some red hair to the side. She lay down next to him, with a hand around his small body until he fell asleep. She stayed for a few more minutes, just watching him sleep, and then went back to her own time.

She was staring at the object in her hand as Ron and Harry opened the door. Instinctively, she hid the object behind her but it was too late, Harry had seen it.

"Don't you know what privacy is?" Jade exclaimed. "What if I had been showering or something?"

"Not my fault the knob doesn't work and you weren't showering, were you?" Harry asked, trying to look what was in her hands. "What were you doing?"

"Personal stuff!" Jade said, defensively.

"You are not changing anything, are you?"

"No," she said with a sigh, knowing she had been caught.

Harry was actually thinking she had travelled in time to perhaps see how to get to Hogwarts before Voldemort and get the wand. He hadn't seen her use it before and now that they knew he got the wand, he saw her with that object in her hands, so he suspected that.

"Jade!" Harry exclaimed, pressuring her to tell him more.

"I already said no!" Jade exclaimed as she stopped hiding the object, there was no point anymore. But she wanted to keep hiding her feelings, but she knew Harry would keep asking, thinking she was actually messing with time. "Sometimes, I like to see my other life, little parts of it. Just fragments every night."

Jade actually looked down, embarrassed. She never found it easy to talk about deep stuff and maybe it wasn't deep for Ron and even for Harry as well, but it was for her.

"Every night? You've been using it daily?" Ron asked, shocked. "When have you even found the time?"

"Well, I hadn't used it in about four or five days and I thought I better use it now, before we leave, I might not have another chance later."

"What did you see?" Ron ventured to ask.

"Just…stuff," Jade said awkwardly. "Now can you go? I'm actually going to take a shower so don't open the door again."

The two boys had just come to talk to her when they heard noises in the bathroom and that's when they opened the door. They nodded at her, not saying another word, Harry closed the door and as he did, Jade took a deep breath. She undressed and hid the object in her clothes. As she showered, she thought of the time she had spent with Leo and how little by little they were getting closer and closer.

A part of her was full of love and happiness, spending time with him, the other part though, was tormented. She couldn't stop thinking that she needed to get him out of there but she had no idea how and she felt like she was failing him. She hated that every single time she had to leave him there, in that place, knowing what they wanted from him and what they were doing.

"Come on, you have to find a way, Jade," she told herself. "What's the point of saving the world, if you can't help a helpless boy?"
