The last bell rang and everyone was in a rush to go home. Everyone
except for two girls and one guy that had decided to walk home. They seemed
to be taking their time, which was kind of odd because as of two minutes
ago, summer was in full swing!
"It sucks that we won't see each other this summer!" Lizzie told her
two best friends, Miranda and Gordo.
Lizzie's family was going on vacation to Hawaii for the whole summer
with Matt's friend Laney. She didn't think it was fair that Matt could
bring Laney and she couldn't bring Miranda, but her parents didn't agree
for some reason.
But that didn't really matter because Miranda's family was leaving
for London that night to visit their family that had moved there last year.
Since it was their last day together for the summer, Gordo, Miranda,
and Lizzie decided to go to Lizzie's house to hang out.
They spent the afternoon just sitting around and talking and the
evening ended in tears. Miranda's plane left that night pretty early so she
stayed as late as she could. Unfortunatly, she had to leave at some time.
Lizzie, Gordo, and Miranda hugged and all said goodbye.
"Liz, when do you leave for Hawaii?" Gordo asked right after Miranda
had left. Lizzie dried her tears and replied, "Not till later tonight, want
to saty later?"
"Of course."
By then it was pretty dark and Lizzie got an idea to star gaze like
they used to when they were younger. They took a blanket outside and layed
down under the stars. "Can you remember when we used to do this like very
night?" Lizzie asked Gordo smiling.
"Haha! Yeah, we knew all the constilations and even made up our own!
Hey look there's the phone one you found that one night!" He pointed up at
the sky towards a bunch of stars that looked like a phone.
They laughed and found all of their old constilations for awhile and
then everything grew silent. But after a few minutes it ws Gordo who broke
the silence.
"Lizzie?"
"Yeah?"
"I..I..wwant...to uh tell you some something..."
Lizzie sat up and turned and stared at him. This wasn't how Gordo
usually acted.
"Then tell me..." She said smiling.
Gordo blinked and looked up into her eyes. "You are so beautiful" he
thought, ''Just why can't I tell her that?"
"Um.. Gordo?"
"Hmm?"
"Weren't you going to tell me something?" Something was definitley
going on..
"Ohh.. yeah.. well.. what I want to tell you.. is... well it's just
that.. I'm.... Uh.. I'm.."
"Gordo come on this isn't like you.. just tell me. It's alright I'll
understand I'm your best friend."
"I'm going to really miss you that's all."
Lizzie smiled and put her arms around him. "I'll really miss you too
Gordo." Suddenly, she felt the tears well up in her eyes again. Gordo
pulled away and saw her crying. "Don't cry, this isn't the last time we'll
see each other." He wiped her tears away with his sleeve. He leaned over
and hugged her again.
"Gordo!!" Mrs McGuire shouted from inside the kitchen, "Your mom
wants you to go home soon!"
"I guess I have to leave.. bye Liz, call me," he told her walking to
the front door.
Lizzie walked him to the door and said goodbye, she started crying
again too. Gordo leaned over and gave her small kiss on the cheek. "I'll
miss you tons."
