I'm glad you like the story.

It would take years for the MC to learn to undo even the most simple of curses and he needs something to do now to help prepare for his future. Besides there's more than enough treasure in the room to cover the fees.

I don't think it will be possible to safely study the diadem as it is a horcrux they can effect people who spend time around them and that could open the doorway to getting possessed like Ginny Weasley. Better to get the stone and ask the experts if it the opal that matters he can salvage that and destroy the rest of the diadem.

The MC can shapeshift into any living creature he's seen in person so he would not be impressed by someone who can change into one animal.

I figured that the basics would be frustrating for someone who wants to learn proper magic. Remember he didn't come to the world of Harry Potter because he wanted to he went because he's hiding out and needs power. His life may every well depend on doing so. As such he's bound to find the basics somewhat frustrating.

He's not trying to be cool and to be fair wizards are annoyingly illogical.

I don't know yet. I doubt the MC will bother with the N.E.W.T exams since he's not looking to start a career in the wizarding world.

I describe the MC in this chapter however if you want to know he has blue eyes, for now, dark messy hair, and is a white male. He doesn't have anything that would draw attention to him like glasses or a scar, or red hair, or freckles, or big teeth, he's very normal looking hence why he never commented on his appearance.

I had fun writing that bit of the story.

Crossworlds 1 - Harry Potter

Part 4

Hogwarts. The Wizarding World.

"Get the mudblood!" a voice called out.

As it turns out there's a reason why the young people travel the corridors of this school in a group, it's for protection, which you need if you're a muggleborn because the snakes at this school do not like it at all when mere muggleborns show them up in Charms class.

Thankfully I didn't normally share lessons with members of the snake house. However the double charms lesson is practical and since there's only twenty students in my year it makes sense to have us work together under the supervision of Flictwick.

What doesn't make sense is why the teachers keep asking me questions, perhaps it was because I had the textbook memorised and they thought that this meant I actually cared about the subject, I did some of the time and yet I resented the teachers for asking because while I a was a bookworm and a muggleborn I didn't wish to be my years Hermione Granger.

Turning a corner and getting out of sight I made use of my Loki given powers to shapeshift into a large male lion, thinking that if anyone got the blame for this it would be one of the Gryffindor students who walked around this school, acting as if they owned the place when the Founder's houses were suppose to share the castle between them.

I'd come to understand at least a little why Snape thought them all to be spoiled and arrogant given that they acted so superior while being such mediocre mages. They even had the nerve to berate those who did better than them in class, calling us names, but never loud enough for the teacher to hear. Ron Weasley was not special in that way.

Perhaps I was too harsh on them as they were just kids, but I couldn't help taking it personally when I got called a swot despite the fact that the opinions of children should mean nothing to me, I would have to practice the mind arts more and learn to manage my own feelings better before I went all emo.

At least they weren't as bad as the snake students who went beyond mere name calling and deeply resented being shown up by a filthy mudblood, but rather than try to surpass me in achievements they'd decided to beat me up. They were regretting that now as a full grown lion was chasing them down a corridor and with my animal senses I could tell that at least one of them had pissed himself.

Once the snake students were gone I made my way into a classroom that I knew to be empty of even portraits and I quickly turned back into a human. I could turn into any living thing I'd seen in person and I'd been to a safari park once so I had a number of interesting options.

"Now that was amusing" said a voice.

I turned to see Tom Hiddleston of all people in his full Loki custom, sans the horn helmet, who gave me a few claps.

"For a magic school this place is so very dull and orderly," said the person I assumed to be the god Loki who had made me one of his angels rather than a mortal actor. "The whole magical world needs to be shaken up and you're just the wizard for the job. I'd do it myself, but there are rules in place about that sort of thing".

I didn't know what to say. I had an actual god talking to me, one who could smite me with ease should he so desire.

"Okay" I managed to get out.

I intended to shake things up more in the future and if Loki wanted pranks I'd be able to manage that. I could shapeshift and create illusions that would allow me to terrorise this school in a totally non-violent way if I so wished. Not that I planned to be so extreme.

"Good boy" praised Loki "Shake things up for me and I'll leave you in one piece and in peace".

The god then tapped me on the forehead.

"Just a sign of my favour" he let me know.

With that he vanished and I headed to a bathroom to find a mirror yet I found nothing wrong with me so I went down to dinner. No sooner had I filled my plate with a serving of Shepherd's Pie than someone else started bothering me.

"Hey, Smith" an older girl said "Did you do something to your eyes, or were they always that green".

Cortana did her job and began to supply me with information. This girl was Penelope Clearwater, right now she was just some third year, but I knew that in her later school years, she would be a Prefect, and eventually she would start dating Percy Weasley, a Gryffindor student and a fellow Prefect. I assumed that this would be due to love potions or because she lost a bet, as dating Percy could be no one's idea of a fun time. He seemed extremely dull to me, but perhaps Miss Clearwater simply liked that type.

Their romance wouldn't last as I knew that Penelope and Percy never married. Percy married another woman named Audrey Weasley instead of someone who didn't share his family name because many Pureblood liked to marry their own cousins. Then they wonder why they have so many psychopaths and squibs around.

Due to the inbreeding I was even considering using illusion powers, which could create noises, to have redneck banjo music play whenever the snakes came into a classroom I was forced to share with them.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

I checked my reflection in a compact mirror she let me use and I saw that my reasonably nice blue eyes had been replaced by more attractive looking green eyes which I would describe as vibrant. I'd not noticed this in the bathroom mirror, but I'd been looking for marks like a tattoo or something like that. Since this was my base form this was what I actually looked like. I had short dark hair, skin a little too pale because I spent too much time in doors, and now very nice green eyes just like those of Loki's. I was actually happy to discover this because it was such a minor change.

"They seem fine" I told Clearwater when I returned her mirror "You had me worried for a second".

She smiled at me.

"I didn't notice them before" she let me know as she went back to her seat "You just wait a few years and you'll have no trouble with girls".

My eyes were now much like Loki's, his little joke I assumed and since I could shapeshift it hardly matter if he wanted to mark me like this so I didn't let it bother me. I had school work to do, a massive room full of lost stuff to sort out, and pranks to plan.

As for the girls, well I wouldn't mind having a sexy female companion for my adventures, but it would be many years before I had to worry about that sort of thing.

Hogwarts. The Wizarding World.

I'd quickly fallen into a routine here at the school. I'd get up, shower, dress, have breakfast, attend my classes and the eat a quick dinner before heading to the room of requirement, assuming that I had no homework to do, I found that best done as soon as possible so that it didn't eat into the time I could spend in this wonderful room and because I didn't want to give the teachers any sort of reason to wonder what I was doing with my time.

What really helped with the sorting out of all this junk was that I could magically expand the inside of containers without enlarging their outer dimensions, something that had taken quite a bit of practice, and then I could move the containers out of the way before I started to throw stuff that could have no value at all into these bins, such as broken table and chair legs, stuffed pixies and empty bottles.

This meant that I was now starting to make some real headway in sorting out the junk from the treasures. It was amazing how many bits of jewellery, lose change and other valuables had gotten lost over the last ten centuries.

As for the books, there were so many of them, and they found their way into any school bags that I could find, many of which had been magically expanded before being forgotten by some student. The second hand book store might take some of them off my hands and they should be able to tell if a book is dangerous or not, or point me in the direction of someone who can find out.

There were quite a few library books in here that must have simply been forgotten about, some for decades, and I decided to return at least some of these to the school once they were checked out and I was sure that they held nothing of interest to me. I would have to do so carefully since I didn't want it to look as if I'd been taking more books out of the library than was allowed.

As for the coins, I found plenty of knuts, sickles and even a few gold coins, some of which were clearly not wizard made, and I'd find out the value of them when they were checked out by the goblins. That would have to wait until I went to the bank.

The coins all fitted nicely into some Mokeskin pouches which were a kind of small magical bag made of Mokeskin that was used for storing items, which no one but the owner could get out. They appeared small on the outside, but an enchantment allowed it to have much greater carrying capacity than any non-magical pouch of comparable size.

I'd placed one in my bottomless bag without thinking it through and for a moment I'd worried that the bags might explode, or somehow ended up consuming each other in some sort of magical blackhole that swallowed up the school, only nothing happened. Maybe because the pouches shrink whatever is inside rather than expand the internal dimensions?

While looking around I'd found several trunks that had more than one compartment and this had allowed me to really start sorting out the stuff with the aid of some magical tools that I'd found as I explored this wonderful room.

I was currently using a Secrecy Sensor, a device which was a type of Dark Detector. It was shaped like an aerial, but it was gold in colour and very squiggly. It vibrated when it detected concealment and lies, and this let me know if an object was not what it seemed. I would have to let curse breakers and Gringotts deal with such items.

That would be expensive and could cost me more than the items were worth, however I needed to take that risk because otherwise I'd never get this room sorted out, nor would I find out what was really useful in here. Besides I would visit the bank in the form of someone who didn't exist so even if I ended up in debt it wouldn't be the real me who had to pay.

Not that I was too worried about losing money since I still had quite a lot of muggle money I could convert and since I had the power to create illusions I could easily sell stuff to muggles that would cease to exist after I got my money. I could only hold one illusion at a time, but the illusions fooled all the senses so as long as I was careful I had plenty of ways of making money.

To be on the safe side I also made use of a Probity Probe, which was another type of Dark Detector that looked like a golden car antenna. It was waved in front of a person in order to detect concealment spells or hidden magical objects. I was using it to double check the items the Secrecy Sensor had already gone over just to be and while they more or less performed the same task it seemed wise to use both as they might be damaged and therefore make mistakes.

At the rate I was finding objects that tripped either of the scanning devices I knew that Gringotts curse breakers would be busy for a good long while. Hopefully I could work out some sort of deal with the bank and haggle for a better deal. I imagined that it would depend on how busy their cursebreakers were.

I wasn't going to simply trust something just because my scanning tools didn't indicate that there was anything wrong with that object. I just made sure that the stuff I knew to be iffy was stored separately. I suspected that since this was a school that the dark items weren't that dangerous, but there was no sense taking chances.

Being careful in here was important because should I be injured then it could be a long time before anyone else entered this version of the Room of Requirement and I might end up being unable to call for the aid of a House Elf in I got into trouble. Hence why I was still wearing my dragonhide glovers and making sure to levitate everything.

One of the few items I had made us was a wireless, what the muggles would think of as an old fashioned radio, in the Wizarding World they were used just as their muggle counterparts, for broadcasting services that provided entertainment as well as news. Unlike the Muggle variation, it is powered by magic, not electricity and so I got to listen to some programs while I worked.

Being powered by magic made sense since electronics tend to break down here at Hogwarts or at least that was the official story. At some point during my time here I should test that bit of common knowledge to see if it is true or not and try to find out why it happened.

I still had my mobile phone, I just kept it switched off and hidden at the orphanage since I didn't want to risk damaging it before I found someone who would buy some tech from the future that could advance global communications by a decade or two. That was something to fall back on should my other ventures not work out.

For now I had plenty of magical items to sort through. Getting all of it sorted would be costly, only I'd stopped worrying about that as I'd found a pirate's chest full of jewels that had somehow ended up here. Assuming that this wasn't someone's advanced transfiguration project then I was already a wealthy young man and I couldn't help wondering who had foolishly left this bounty here.

It was good that there was plenty of fabric in here as I still had lots to sort through, such as a number of battered Lunascopes, which were astronomical instruments invented by Perpetua Fancourt according to a book I found on commonplace magical objects. Lunascopes showed the phases of the moons. It was created to counter the difficulty of using Moon charts, and they were something that I assumed I'd learn about during my time at Hogwarts.

I also found a few Omnioculars and these were the wizarding equivalent of Muggle binoculars, but with the additional features of being able to magically slow down and replay action. They looked to be made out of brass and while they had cracked lenses I figured that they wouldn't be too hard to fix by an expert or maybe I'd figure it out.

Soon I found a Remembrall, something I knew to be a magical object that was a large marble-sized glass ball that contained smoke which turns red when its owner or user had forgotten something. It turned clear once whatever was forgotten was remembered. Seemed silly to me and I didn't touch the one I found so I didn't even know if it worked.

One of the more awesome things I found was a helmet made for giants, it must be an item of armour worn by those brutes during various conflicts, such as the Giant wars in the late 19th century. These conflicts were covered on the History of Magic curriculum here at Hogwarts School, but since Binns had a voice that could make the most hyperactive of toddlers want to take a nap. As such I planned to read up on the subject in my own time.

I'd filled a few bags full of Gobstone and it wasn't surprising to find so many of the round magical balls here as they were used to play a popular wizarding game for children. Gobstones were similar to ordinary Muggle marbles, except that when a player lost a point in Gobstones, the stone squirted a putrid liquid at the player. Gobstones were most commonly made of stone, but may also be made of precious metals, such as gold, and I'd found a few gold ones just today. Some poor children must have lost them.

I even half full jar of Floo powder, which was a glittery magical powder used by witches and wizards to travel by the Floo Network, something that connected the fireplaces of nearly every wizarding household and building, assuming that they were part of the network. Through the use of Floo powder, witches and wizards were able to enter a fireplace at the origin building and exit a fireplace at the destination building. It could also be used as a means of communication, where magical persons could have their head temporarily transported to another fireplace to speak to those at the destination fireplace.

My thinking was that by having my own supply and then by finding out whose fireplaces were part of the network here in the castle then I should be able to prepare an escape route. It would be easier to discover one of the secret passages here in the castle, but I wanted to have more than one escape route prepared should things go pear-shaped for me.

Another find was an entire set of enchanted razors. I knew that to make them work a person simply had to instruct one of the razors verbally. I had no intention of letting something with blades that might have a mind of its own go anywhere near my face and neck. I was not that stupid besides these ones looked a bit rusty and well used so I figured it best to trash them.

I found a lot of crystal balls during my search (or, as Seers prefer to call them, the Orb) they were magical crystal spheres which Seers gazed into for the purpose of Divination. I saw nothing when I looked into them because I had no talent for that branch of magic and nor did I care to since I knew it wasn't a very precise kind of magic, and if fiction was anything to go by then a little knowledge of the future could be very dangerous without proper context.

Because of their size and weight, they could serve as makeshift blunt weapons, as Sybill Trelawney displayed when she managed to knock out the werewolf Fenrir Greyback by throwing one at his head during the Battle of Hogwarts, and then she used her wand to launch many more as projectiles. So if nothing else Trelawney proved to not be a total waste of space.

As for the orbs I just thought that one would look pretty on display should I ever have a home. Hopefully I could sell the rest should they be in working order. They were proper crystal not glass and therefore should cost a pretty penny. Maybe some muggles would like them as fancy paperweights.

A big surprise happened when I stumbled across The Mirror of Erised, an item that should belong to Dumbledore and since it was here it seemed very likely that he knew about this room even if he didn't know what it was fully capable of doing. This made me realise that I would have to be more careful when visiting this place in case he found out what I was getting up to.

The mirror was one of those magical artefacts that seems to have been created with either innocent or malevolent intent depending on your opinion, as the mirror could bring more harm than good; many could have wasted their lives before the mirror, losing track of reality as they were deluded by what they saw and be unable or unwilling to accept it as mere fantasy.

This didn't mean that the creator meant it to be harmful; he or she might have wished it to help people realise their dreams and to better understand their own desires. We can sometimes harm others when trying to help them.

Dumbledore would say that the happiest and most satisfied person in the world would look in the mirror and see only a reflection of themselves, exactly as they were, for they would have no one and nothing more to yearn for that the mirror could show them. But humans never seem totally satisfied by what they have so I doubt that has ever actually happened.

Besides someone who had desires would feel no motivation to go out into the world and do anything because they'd be content as they were and was that really any different than wasting your life dreaming of what might be? That was something for wiser minds than mine to debate.

When I looked into the mirror I saw myself as older, but not as an illusion or like when I shapeshifted I somehow knew, rather I was a powerful wizard, with a rather cool outfit that involved a lot of black as well as some nice looking accessories that suggested great wealth.

The me in the mirror had a confidence about him that I admired. This person was not the muggleborn John Smith, this was a wizard with a better name, one that people would connect to great power. I could almost hear this person's name, it would be something cool.

I covered up the mirror, knowing that it had done all it could for me, and any further grazing was pointless. Dumbledore wouldn't need it until next year and even then I had no use for the stone it would contain since I was already immortal and could make myself rich as I had no need for this mirror. I would not look upon it ever again if it were up to me.

Gringotts Bank. Diagon Alley.

During one of my weekends at Hogwarts I'd again slipped out of school and fly as a bird to the village of Hogsmede before changing my form so that I appeared to be an old man. In that body I summoned up the Knight Bus and didn't change my appearance any further until I was at the entrance of the alley.

Now I looked like a wizarding world's version of Tom Hiddleston, which was how Loki had looked when he appeared to me and since I could mimic the form of any living creature I'd seen in person I could make myself look like the actor. I even planned to use that name because I could never come up with any good ones and if the actor was around he'd just be a child as well as a muggle so it wasn't as if he could complain.

As hoped, the Trace had never settled on me so no owls appeared to tell me off for doing magic outside of school. I couldn't help wondering if that meant The Trace would be or had been applied to the muggle orphanage rather than to me as a person. Since I had no intention of ever going back there I wouldn't find out.

It was good that I could use magic as the trunk that had been in my bottomless bag was too heavy for me to carry once outside of the bag, which didn't seem to have a weight limit, so I was making it float along with me. No one paid any attention to the trunk as it was not an odd sight although I did see a few looks directed at me from witches of all ages as this form was rather handsome and I was dressed as a wealthy pureblood. This was easy to do as there were catalogues in the Room of Requirement full of moving pictures of people who spent far too much money on clothes.

"Excuse me sir I have need of your banks services" I said to a goblin who didn't look to busy "I've recently inherited a sensible fortune as well as a large collection of magical objects, some of which might be cursed and Gringotts is famous for the quality of its Curse Breakers".

The snide creature might have made some remark about me interfering with his work. Only I'd just opened up the multi compartment chest to show some of the large pile of jewels that I'd found in the Room of Requirement. I'd not brought all of the treasure with me in case the goblins did something to rip me off.

They were real as far as I could tell. I'd tried to cancel any charms on them and to reverse transfigurations, but just because they were real that didn't mean they weren't cursed or created magically some other way, or simply transformed in a way I could not undo. Anything magical done to the jewels should be something the goblins would know how to do it since they dealt with valuables all the time.

"As for the other compartments I have the keys for most of them" I mentioned

They'd taken a long time to track down. There were so many keys in the Room of Requirement.

"Now my grandparents weren't bad people but they could be careless when it came to collecting" I was now saying "So I need to ensure that nothing they left me is cursed or broken beyond repair. Hopefully you can put me into contact with someone who can handle the repairs. I'd like everything dangerous to be made safe and everything already safe to be stored in a vault. I'll have more chests full of stuff like this in future so the bank should make a tidy profit".

The magical creature kept staring at the jewels.

"Yes!" the goblin half yelled "Gringotts can help you!".

I gave the banker what I hoped was a charming smile.

"Wonderful" I replied "Once we have an idea of my assets I'll want to talk to someone about buying a small property in this country. I hope that Gringotts will be able to help me".

Even if they didn't handle real estate themselves they'd be involved in the process since paying for any property would involve moving large amounts of funds around. I needed a well protected home for my adult persona to live in and as a hideout for me. While I'd not originally planned to get a vault it was looking as if the Room of Requirement was going to contain more than I could handle without using a vault for storage.

I'd even considered using Ministry curse breakers, only I'd rather avoid the notice of the government for as long as possible, and they'd likely fine me for having cursed items and charge me more for getting rid of them than the bank would.

"No to be rude" said the goblin "But who are you?".

I was sure he would be rude if I'd displayed such wealth.

"Thomas Hiddleston is my name" I answered "I come from a family of explorers and treasure hunters. I'm descended from British wizards and I've decided to spend some time in this country".

That would nicely explain how the insular magical world here in Britain had never heard of me or my family. Fate would work once more to fit me into this world as long as I put in some effort. As for the effort I figured that there was going to be quite a lot of paperwork involved.
