The Great Hall was buzzing with noise as the halloween jack-o-lanterns floated above the tables, the students chattering as they enjoyed the holiday feast.
"So, are we going to go out to the villiage tonight?" whispered a boy with straight black hair to three others.
"Definately," agreed a boy with messy black hair and glasses.
"Alright!" grinned a sandy haired teen.
"Uh, sure," agreed a final boy, sort of chubby, with pale blue eyes.
"After the feast then."
The four met in the shadows of the hall, giggling at the stunt they were about to pull, one they often pulled actually, but it was always fun to outsmart Mrs. Norris, the cat who stalked the halls for Mr. Filch, the care taker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
They tossed off the invisibility cloak, which the sandy haired boy picked up and placed around his shoulders, while the others transformed into their animal forms, entering a tunnel.
"Sirius, watch it!" he snipped as the statue went back to its place, closing the entrance. "I don't want to step on your tail...oh forget it. Lumos!"
The tunnel lit up to reveal a rat, a dog, and a stag, his friends, Peter, Sirius, and James. Remus, what do you get yourself into sometimes? he thought to himself with a little laugh. They moved through the tunnel, exiting outside of a rundown building, that looked very old indeed.
He went first, followed by Peter. Moments later Sirius followed, who was, inturn, followed by James. It was
easier to go this way than for all four of them to be cramped under James' cloak.
The three transfigured back to human form, then all four of them sat down, by the light of their four wands, they
began to play games, swap jokes, and drink butterbeer. A typical evening with the marauders. The four teens were suddenly startled by a screeching noise, something sounded alot like a mix between a bird and a horse.
"A hippogriff?" Peter suggested.
"In town? Why?" Remus asked, moving to the window. "Hey, there is a hippogriff down there!" The four of them pushed and squeezed to see out the little window as a half horse half bird creature charged down the street, landing nearby.
The hippogriff caried a small passenger, one the marauders could just barely make out. It was obvious the rider was a girl, but other than that, they could make out little. Most of her body was covered by a dark cloak that blended with the night shadows.
She got off of the hippogriff, which took flight immediately, swoopin angrily at her, before flying away.
"What was that all about?" James asked. The others shrugged cluelessly.
The girl looked around nervously for a moment before removing her cloak, lying it carefully on the ground. The marauders watched from the window, but none so intently as Peter. Suddenly, it seemed as though she had vanished!
"Woah, where'd she go?" Sirius gasped.
"Disapperated?" Remus asked in a disbelieveing tone.
"She didn't look old enough too," James whispered.
Peter alone said nothing. It seemed he was the only one who could still see what was on the cloak. After all, he'd been about the same size for a long while. Scampering off of the cloak and into the dark field was a little mouse.
"She didn't disapperate," he told his friends. "She transfigured. And it looked like she was heading for Hogwarts."
