Gaia slowly stood up, stumbling from her after fight blackout. Even though she was still slightly out of it, she was feeling a bit of an after-fight high. Finally! It had been three weeks since she had fought last.

"Damn I hate this town," she thought to herself. "There are way too few thugs to set straight. Oh well, what more should I expect of Allendorf, Iowa!" Gaia started dragging home wishing she could find a way out of this layer of hell. The Lewis's were nice people and all, but they had no brains. They were always trying to examine her mind and figure out why she was always angry. Didn't they realize that she was a waste of their time! Gaia didn't have a clue as to what was happening in her brain herself. How were they going to figure it out? "Shrinks are highly overrated," she mumbled to herself. She neared the upscale brick farmhouse and she wished she could just continue walking forever until the world fixed its problems. Well that would have to wait for another night because look who was coming out of the door, Prissy Lewis, queen of all the ignorant naïve schoolgirls. Better rush in before she tries to talk to me and make me feel better, something I sure as hell couldn't use.

"Gaia?"

"What"

"Mom and Dad want to talk to you, inside"

"Tell 'em, some other time"

"They said it was real important"

"Fine."

What stupid psychoanalysis test were they going to have her do now? She walked into the office/examining room/living room and found the Dr. Lewis's sitting in their chairs each holding a notepad.

"What type of test am I doing this time?"

"There's no test, darling," Mrs. Lewis said looking worriedly at Mr. Lewis.

"Right," he said staring back at Mrs. Lewis with the same look then turning his attention to Gaia, "we wanted to talk to you."

"What about?" she replied.

"Well, your father requested that you be placed in a new foster home." Mrs. Lewis said cautiously.

"Where is my father?" Gaia asked, trying to mask her anxiety.

"I don't know, honey, the agency called to tell us his request.

"Who will I be staying with?"

"Um," Mr. Lewis looked at his notepad, "George and Ella Niven, in New York City."

Thank God, I'm going to New York City! That place is filled with lowlifes, Gaia thought to herself.

"Hmm," she murmured, attempting to mask her delight.

"We'll miss you, sweetie." Mrs. Lewis remarked sadly.

"Yes, very much so," Mr. Lewis added.

"When do I leave?"

"In two days, so you better start packing" Mr. Lewis said ending the conversation without knowing it because Gaia immediately ran up the stairs to her room, filled with anticipation.
