As she had everyday since she had mastered it, as Kel woke up she automatically reverted her facial feature that were tighten with expression into a relaxed blank look. She was a knight of the realm now, but that didn't matter to many people. Some had the brains to realize that the Chamber of Ordeal had seen her fit to be a knight, but others were as stubborn as ever. Each day was a set routine where she was at the royal palace in Corus. She wanted to be up where the fighting was, she wanted to help and make a difference for her country. Instead she was stuck here, in front of prying eyes. She sat back on her bed and though of her friends instead. Mainly Cleon, who was away fighting, but also Neal, Owen, Merric, Roald, Faleron and the others. A precious few were here, but most were away fighting or doing something useful. She sighed. She missed Cleon with an aching heart. Cleon.

Eventually, she'd been able to open up around her friends. Finally, Cleon had basically pried her out of her shell by kissing her and insisting on being with her. She found that she didn't mind one bit. She loved him, she knew, but she really wasn't ready to settle down with him, not that she could. No, she wouldn't think of that now. Just about him. The good parts. He'd really opened her up.

Neal had initially helped her be a little less tense around others, but Cleon had let her know that he really saw her as a girl and that he appreciated her as she was. It was so easy to get along with him, even if they could both be stubborn at times. He teased her and called her funny, though sometimes nearly bizarre names. Sometimes she felt giddy and lost almost all sense of reality when they were together or kissing.

Did he know how much she loved him? Incase, gods forbid, something happened to him on the battlefield or elsewhere? She pushed that thought to the back of her mind. She wanted to see him again. Just then the door banged open and she was swept into a warm embrace. Kel knew it was Cleon, home for some reason. Oh, who cared why he was here? That fact remained that he was here. She kissed him like to world would end tomorrow. So that if the sun never came up again, he would live in the darkness knowing that she loved him and their love would be enough light.
