It Was Our Day
(Chichi's POV)
Chichi sat in her room, looking out the window. She was truly beginning to feel old now. Just a few minutes earlier, Gohan had come in to tell her that Goku had died for the last time, this time to become the Guardian of the Dragonballs so that Earth could never be put in danger again. And there was no hope of him ever coming back.
Eight o'clock on the morning that you left
The day was dark; I sat in my room
They walked in and told me that you'd gone
That moment on

Chichi picked up a few piece of blank paper and a pencil to try to distract her mind, so she wouldn't just lose it all together. But of it's own accord, her hand drew a picture of Goku. and she did nothing to stop it, but watched herself draw him.
The day I spent was the hardest day ever
Trying to paint a picture for you
Before my eyes, there's so many colors
Just for today, they all seem blue
"Oh, Goku," she said, her eyes filling. "Why you? Why'd you have to leave again?"
Heaven, Heaven was calling you
Heaven, Heaven needed you
Chichi put the finished drawing on her dresser, propping it against a large candle. "There," she said in a breath. "The memorial Goku would've wanted. Home, with his family."
We'll join our hands again someday
And trade kisses beneath our night
And talk of the times we had
We'll be together, oh, someday
And watch over the stars at night
And laugh at the fun we had
"Goku, you big ape," she said, smiling through the tears streaming down her face. "I miss you so much already, just like every time you die."
It was our day
Chichi opened her window and plucked a rose from the windowsill flower-bed she had nurtured since moving in all those years ago. Laying it in front of the drawing, she struck a match and lighted one of the smaller candles she kept on her dresser. A rose to symbolize love; a candle to symbolize memories.
I lay a rose beside you forever
And light a candle to remind me of you
You're in my heart; you'll be on my journey
Wherever I go; whatever I do
"I know you'll protect Earth in death just as well as you protected it in life," she whispered.
Heaven, Heaven was calling you
Heaven, Heaven needed you
"And when I die, you can count on me helping you. For better, for worse. For richer, for poorer. Death will never part your soul from mine. I do."
We'll join our hands again someday

She traced her finger lovingly around the outline of her drawing, before heading down the stairs to start breakfast. Just like she did when Goku still lived.
It was our day
Somehow, she felt that Goku wouldn't want anything changed.

I love that song. When I heard it, I automatically thought 'Goku and Chichi'. It fits them so perfectly, don't you think?
