On the surface, one would wonder how such opposites could work so well together. After all, Sally was the beautiful, brilliant princess, destined to fall in love with a prince charming or hero. Shadow was the Ultimate Lifeform, rough around the edges with crimson eyes glowing death and danger. They seemed like two jagged puzzle pieces that shouldn't fit, and yet, they did.

25. Forgotten

He sacrificed himself for a world undeserving of such a great feat of kindness. His was a brave soul, though a misunderstood one. He gave up everything to save the world and all life that inhabited it. She, the girl with the hair the color of gold and dark blue eyes, would surely be proud of him, wherever she was.

And as he careened towards Earth, he couldn't help but wonder if such a selfless deed would forever be remembered or set aflame, the ashes riding on the breeze. Would he be hailed as a hero or shunned as a mistake, a threat?

Shadow's eyes slipped closed, bracing himself for impact. The last thing he thought about was her, the girl with beautiful auburn hair and sapphire eyes, and for some reason, the thought of her alone made him smile, made what he was doing worth it.
