Chapter 19: Rewards and Annoyances

Issei had started to train and he was making good progress.

I wasn't the guy in charge of this situation due to my current disposition, but I had the chance to check on him from time to time while he was getting prepared for some proper combat experience. I knew that Saji had tagged along a few times, but, as Azazel would also confirm to me by the phone, he was having an easier time with his Sacred Gear due to how 'simpler' it was compared to the Booster Gear. Then again, I knew for a fact that Saji did train less than Issei and yet would end up reaching impressive levels in Canon.

At this point, as he developed his fragmented Vritra gear, the blond was also getting trained in proper combat and magical education. It was clear he had accepted he wasn't going to be the Tank/DPS dealer in any fight, but he had also made it his strength by becoming the best kind of support Issei could have asked.

In fact, while Ise was good in physical training through his current disposition, his magical might was, just like one would expect in his current state, even worse than the one he had initially as a Devil. Which meant he was going to work hard to pull through the gap he has between his potential growth as a Reincarnated Devil and his current one as a human. That was quite rough on him, but he didn't seem to mind the challenge. I wasn't there to see him interact with Ddraig or even give him any advice about it. I just didn't see the point of going overboard with my current role as he was already doing the best he could.

At least, not beyond suggesting to Azazel to actually provide him with Holy equipment if possible. Since Ise was not a Devil, that means he didn't have any weakness to common issues to Devils. In this regard, equipping him with blessed tools may actually give him the edge against most opponents of the Devil kind if a bad situation his Boosted Gear alone wasn't going to help him with.

It was a bit of a work in progress, but I knew Ise was going to get to the point of kicking some bad butts in the near future. And with the pace and dedication he put into his chances, he definitely had gotten close to how strong he would have been during the Phenex Betrothal Arc. I think Asia was also to thank in that regard since she followed the boys' growth closely together with Reya, with the latter working as the harsh inspiration while focusing on poor Saji, while Asia being the 'good cop' and coaxing Ise to do more.

All was nice and well right now, which made me aware that something unusual was soon to happen and-

"I think you should reward Kalawarna."

"She will no longer annoy you or she will not visit again," The loli of the Void announced with a nod, causing the witch to look defeated this time around.

"Oh well, at least your milk is delicious," She muttered, sipping the choco-milk combo drink in my mug.
