Chapter 20-B: Dilemma in the Cuckoo's Nest
"Can-Can I really go?"
"Yes, you may, Vali-chan, but remember to-"
And the host of the White Dragon Sacred Gear bolted from his office as eagerly as she could, leaving Azazel groaning as his mental endurance had been depleted during these last months- and he had a single individual to blame. Then again, he had warranted this much back at himself by being the guy that turned overall troublesome matters back at the source. John Bukharin was, beyond his capacity as an issues' magnet, a good worker.
In fact, he was tempted to say that, out of those non-Fallen Angel members, he was the most loyal and trustworthy individual in the team. That's not to say his position wasn't challenged by others such as Tobio Ikuse and Lavinia Reni in that category, but the human was less prone to... engage in real trouble. Stuff happened to him, but it wasn't like he was purposely seeking the heat for himself. That didn't stop trouble from following him, and John was... well, he was the craftiest son of a bitch he ever met. He was no jerk in that remark, but he held a degree of dickery when necessary which made him stand as one of the few men with a pair of shiny titanium balls to show off his mannerism.
Vali's debacle was the latest of numerous other situations which were born from his actions and inactions. The Ophis bit? Surprisingly, they both seemed to fit well as the Infinity Dragon had grown less aggressive with her suspicious planning, slowing everything down to, perhaps, enjoy this dimension some more before resuming her war on the Great Red.
The Gremory's connection? That one had been downright hilarious and somewhat of a reason to poke fun at poor Sirzechs as the man had taken this development- the way Rias just 'discovered the truth on her own' as reason to expect her to be finally growing up from being the little girl that asked to get head patted by him. And to see Grayfia happily slap him for daydreaming of these memories while Millicas was around- just perfection!
The Church thing was a bit of a risky game that Azazel was allowed to play because he saw some benefits in the long run. Valper was a shitty bastard, but he knew better than let the opportunity to kidnap him, steal his knowledge and show-off the papacy was a funny way to exploit the whole matter. Kokabiel didn't even suspect that his plan to improve himself was going to retort back to him- heck, he didn't even know that he was a moment away from losing his economic and military base by a finger-snap from Azazel himself. Grigori was geared up and ready to flush the traitors that had been found, which were a lot but... they weren't going to be missed.
It was still a troublesome game for two reasons: 1) Kokabiel was a clever bastard and he could find out of this mess mere moments before launching his operation. It wasn't within certain possibility, but it was still possible; 2) These 'church girls' were meddlesome to say the least. Irina and Xenovia, the former was behaving nicely before a diplomatic situation while Xenovia was... well, Griselda Quarta may have let her 'daughter' get a bit too into the religious perception she had of the faith. It wasn't the first time some of the Holy See's warriors would just form their own silly opinion of their doctrine as the doctrine itself was meant to be interpreted in a flexible manner.
He trusted John to handle them with moderation... and right retribution if things got a bit too rowdy. He doubted the man that sought a degree of neutrality from the real conflict would expose himself too much. And some paddling wouldn't be too excessive to use against the blue-haired girl if she crossed any line the man was willing to set while she stayed at his house.
The thought of a 'naughty warrior-nun' getting spanked was enough to soothe his worries~
Still, it was enough of a worry to justify him sending Vali to Kuoh. And yet it wasn't the main reason for it. Vali was... a daughter to him. Azazel loved her as the child he never had, and despite her own unease at accepting this, the girl felt the same back to him. He took care of her, gave her a home, education, some rough affection and ultimately molded her into the fine warrior she had wanted to be from the very beginning. What really made Azazel worry was not the source of her romantic and sexual affection, but the way Vali was treating it and how this could spell the doom of many.
Vali was not experienced in social situations. The only one that could reach out for him was Lavinia Reni herself because she had been around her for long enough to know what the girl was like in that regard. Reaching out for the witch resulted in the same depiction over and over again: Let her sort out this situation on her own. Which sounded like a terrible idea for many reasons: not only John was already in a relationship as he last checked, but Ophis was also staking her claim on it too.
And while that last bit may not seem much due to Kuroka being allowed to be intimate with the man, that didn't mean Ophis was going to accept a fellow dragon to deal with her hoard. Dragons were still greedy individuals deep down and conflict was a valid element in their society. Sacred Gear or not, Albion was still a dragon that sought to establish control and his arrogant-like behavior tended to pick him fights where Vali would normally dodge them. Which said a lot considering how cocky Vali would get at times.
Still, the real worry was... more complicated than all of this. It was the way Vali was dealing with this mess. The way his baby girl was just actually getting too taken by the notion of mateship. Azazel was quite confident this was Albion's fault, but in the end nothing could have prevented that as Vali's romantic and sexual life would have been one akin of a dragon.
And John, much to the Governor-General's limited pity, was going to deal with the disaster. One that Azazel himself wasn't sure how to deal with beyond hoping that Vali didn't 'mate' with John too hard and ended up breaking his bones in the process. The only saving grace was the notion that being granddaddy didn't sound like a terrible idea. And, knowing Vali, she was going to get a big family to show off the many Devils that could hardly get babies due to their unique biology.
He cracked a grin at that thought:
Numerous troublemakers mixed John's cunning mind with Vali's power- pure chaos incarnate! The Real Khaos Brigade for the poor fools of Heaven and Hell. Or perhaps the most adorable elements to head pat to prevent a true apocalypse.
AN
Azazel's POV to set a small recap of the overall situation. Next time things will get a bit lewd, but it will surprise a few readers who this time will get to be treated with some affection.

REVIEW Q&A!
Crapcase39: I think that's because many media, both original stuff and fanfiction, tends to use Italian in a somewhat 'broken accent' manner. I think it should be used as a way to highlight/emphasize emotions rather than be used to create some stereotype.
AmethystEspeon: You need to have an account in QQ because they are NSFW. Once you find my profile you can go in the information tab there and 'find all threads' and from there you can access to all my stories there.
Black Fire Born: I am not familiar with the lore of Harry Dresden and I know I would mess that up without some knowledge in that regard.
Runelt99: You need an account since it's NSFW there.
Dragon King of the West: I would say it's around a bit before the girls' original arrival- Kokabiel is pushing on the gas because he knows he is being monitored by someone.
T-B-R: Possiblemente. Also, great news that Kson and Mikeneko got hired by Vshojo.
Poharan: It really hurts. While many would expect Italians to slap a lot through movies, a slap from someone is never meant to be seen as a common sight- if you getting slapped it's either A) you fucked up big time or B) the other person has no common sense and may be violent if the situation doesn't warrant that sort of stuff.
Guest (Chapter 21): Not my real name, it's my main SI's name tho.
Zingnize-Tits: Cheeks slapped is synonymous of 'buns-drumming via Paddle' in this environment. And yes, Vali is thirsty as hell now.
Im not entirely sure he: I don't know if it will. In fact, most of the new stories are stuck in QQ because I rely a lot on reference pics, an option that FFN doesn't allow. Which is why I think these forums offer a better reading experience since you can use more options to organize threads and divide main chapters from side-stories, pics/fanarts, and omakes.
Toru Minasuki: Tell your friend that this train ain't stopping! xD
