If the people who own pokemon read fanfics to begin with, the show would probably be way different. So what's the point of a disclaimer if the claimer isn't even going to see it?

Battle-
The pidgey is young, and terrified. Its opponent is a huge arbok. Escape, however, is not feasible. The pidgey is young, yes, but the story of the fast ball circulated almost as fast as the fleet-footed pokemon it captured. Now, not even the swifter pokemon had a chance to avoid battle. Now, all must fight.
True, it does not know if the human has a fast ball. But there is a good chance even a new trainer would have it, and the trainer is clearly not novice. It (for the pidgey could not tell the gender of humans) had been a trainer long enough to raise and evolve the arbok, and had almost certainly gathered a collection of the different types of balls. Once a novelty, now most trainers had the full assortment in their packs. To further convince the pidgey, the arbok's pokeball is a level ball.
So it fights. What else can it do?
And it loses. What else could have happened?
The pidgey feels weakness and injury. But the terror of capture spur it on, make it fight frantically. The arbok, though she is higher level, is prevented the quick win she and her trainer expect.
The human knows its arbok is fighting well. It knows this pidgey is young and low-level. It is even vaguely impressed by the fight it is putting up. But its attention is not on the match. It cares little, for the outcome of this was decided the moment the arbok was sent out. If the fight takes slightly longer then usual, what of it? The arbok is simply getting further experience. So it daydreams, paying only slight attention.
And the outcome is certain, and the arbok rears back for the final blow. And the pidgey knows it.
It flinches, pulls back into itself, willing itself stronger, strong enough to fight and it begins to glow.
It is pidgeotto! Heartened by this unexpected miracle, it sends another gust attack at the arbok.
The arbok is hit, then, annoyed, she counters with a crunch attack.
The pidgeotto slumps to the ground in a near faint. Through blurry eyes it watches the trainer and arbok.
The human, surprised and interested by the evolution of the minor pokemon it was intending the arbok to simply defeat for experience, expands a pokeball, and throws.
The title should be clear. So, what did you think?
