A/N: this takes place when Neville is 13 OK?

The corridors of St.Mungos echoed with the footsteps of Neville Longbottom and his Grandmother, Nancy Longbottom. The hospital was nearly deserted as it was Christmas Day, snow was falling lightly outside and the sky was a beautiful bluish grey. Neville sighed, how he wished his parents could see this, touch it, and play with it. But they couldn't.

12 years ago, on this day, they had been tortured to the point of insanity by Lord Voldemorts supporters. Neville had only been 1 and only remembered that the Minister had come in to break the news to him and his Gran, she was babysitting that day. Then, Neville diddn't know what had happened, but as he got older, he understood. Neville had never told anyone about this. It was too much for him to bear... They were Hufflepuffs. So Neville had no idea why he was in Gryffindor, but then he it dawned on him, it was because they were brave, and he, in their footsteps, braved life without them.

"Were here Neville dearie," Called Gran pushing open the familiar door. "Hello Mrs. Longbottom, Neville, how nice to see you again, I've been telling your Parents all about your triumphs at school this year, they seam eager to see you." Doctor Patricia Rognot told them. It was true; Dr. Rognot was practically family to Neville. He sent her all his grades and what not, and she told his parents. Looking around the room, Neville saw all his drawings from when he was little, and his recent, and not so recent grades along the walls as well. "Neville, I'm going to talk with Dr. Rognot, I will be back with in a half and hour. Alright?" Gran said, bringing Neville back to reality. "Yes, sure, alright Gran. See you later then." With that, they left.

Neville pulled up a chair and sat down by his mother. He kissed her on the cheek and fallowed closely by his father, I smile passed there lips. Neville supposed he could have imagined it; after all, his parents could barely talk. "Hello Mum, Dad. How is it? I've missed you since this summer. I made these for you."Neville then took out of his pocket, 2 beautiful Christmas ornaments that took a lot of time. He hung them over there beds. "Charmed them I did. Took a lot of time. They'll show you what's going on in my life. I've got one too, so I can see you all the time. It's at home though. You'll be happy to know, this term, I got another A in Herbology. And another A in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Professor Lupin, he's really nice. Taught us a lot about creatures, he did. Oh, and Hagrid, remember him? He's teaching Care of Magical Creatures. Er. lets not go in to that." Neville added quickly. He then turned around and hung up his new report card. "Mum, Da, I want you to know, I love you." Neville started to shake and cry, just then, his Gran came in. "Come on Neville, time to go." Just as Neville turned to leave, his mother uttered a single sentence: "I love you, baby" But Neville never heard it, for the door had already closed.

A/N: I own dr. Rognot. And the Charm thingy. JKROWLING owns her stuff. I own mine. Believe it or not, I actually started crying while writing this. I know what its like to lose some one close at a young age. My grandpa was my best friend, died 2 days after Christmas when I was in 1st grade. Later that year, I hid under desks. Thanks for reading this. ~ASGT
