Luz was almost to the main city. The feel off her new bike was amazing. She hasn't been on one since she sold hers almost three years ago.
'I still got it.' Luz thought as she pulled her bike up, popping a wheelie as she throttled the accelerator! 'And I have missed it!'
The thrill of riding a motorcycle and feeling the wind in her skin, there was nothing like it with any other vehicle. Not even similar cycles like ATV/ or 3 wheelers could make her feel like she was on a motorcycle. Luz pulled off the highway and went down the street towards the city. She parked her bike in a spot near a cafe.
"Oh, nice bike." a girl with glasses said.
"Thanks, my mom's girlfriend got it for me." Luz said, "I'm Luz, by the way."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Willow."
Luz took her helmet off and set it down. Looking at her, Willow seemed like an alright person by Luz's standards. Very tough looking.
"You must be new in town, I haven't seen you around town." Willow said.
"Just moved here. Don't judge but my mother got a job in town and we moved in with her girlfriend, Lilith." Luz revealed.
"Lilith? As in Lilith Clawthorne? Everyone in town knows her." Willow said.
"She's that popular?" Luz asked.
"She's the richest woman in North America." Willow said.
"Whatever." Luz said, putting the kickstand down and getting off her new bike, "So, what's there to do in this place?"
"A lot, I was just waiting for my friends and girlfriend, you could join us." Willow said.
"Cool." Luz said as she leaned against her motorcycle to wait with Willow. "So, you mind telling me about this town a bit? I'm gonna be living her for a long time, so maybe I could learn some while I wait."
"This town is... different." Willow said.
Luz chuckled.
"Trust me, Noceda's are used to things being different."
"Noceda? As in the well known detective, Nathan Noceda?"
Luz looked at the ground.
"Yeah, that's my dad."
"I heard he was pretty cool. One of the best detectives in America. He must've been a good man, huh?" Willow asked her.
"Yeah…. he was the best." Luz said, still looking at the ground but has a sad smile, "He... he was my hero. Then... well, I'm sure you heard what happened."
"Yeah, a lot of people probably miss him. He was a good man and he did good work." Willow said with a nod. "He also must've loved his family"
"Yeah, he did." Luz said to her, "Hey, can we... can we stop talking about this? This... this brings back some bad memories."
"I understand. Why don't you tell me about yourself? You seem like a strong girl." Willow said to Luz.
"Well, let's just say that I used to play sports. I was really good at Baseball." Luz said, knowing that she won't understand that her baseball is the head of a criminal.
"Really? I didn't peg you for a fan of our national pass time, even though football seems to be replacing it." Willow commented with a shrug.
"I wouldn't underestimate it, swinging that bat can be really satisfying." Luz said with a smile.
"Oh, Willow!"
Willow rolled her eyes as a tall girl with short pink hair and two grey eyes walked up.
"Babe, I want a kiss." Boscha said, "Who's the chick?"
"The names, Luz. Luz Noceda."
"A-a-as in Nathan Noceda? The Detective? My personal hero?"
"My dad is your personal hero?" Luz said in surprise.
"He got my uncle put in jail for Human Trafficking, which I was almost taken for. I don't even want to know where I'd be if it wasn't for what he did."
'Wow. No matter how much I hear about dad, he still manages to amaze me. He really was a great guy, I've still got so much to live up to.' Luz thought.
"So, did you just move here?" Boscha asked her.
"Yeah. Mom managed to find love again and invited me to come along." Luz said.
"I Thought you said you still lived with your mom?" Willow said with a smirk.
"I do but I don't want to live with my mom my whole life." Luz said, "I just didn't want to live on the other side of the country in case something happens."
"Make sense." Willow said, "Speaking of, where's Amity, Boscha? How can you show up before her, you two share a penthouse."
"Penthouse? Let me guess, rich girls?" Luz asked with a raised brow. "Not judging, just curious."
"Yeah." Boscha said, "Amity has... a problem with her parents and I was looking to move out of my parents house, so we decided to rent a penthouse together."
"Cool, my mom and I now live in a mansion, so it's a bit of a change having money."
"Yeah. Lilith seemed to have found love in the form of Luz's mom." Willow said with a nudge. "She's a lucky gal, both of them."
