Later, Luz arrived with a duffel bag.
"Wow, this is a pretty nice Island." Luz said.
"Yes, she likes to call the Island and other smaller ones around it, the 'Boiling Isles'." Lilith said, "Be good with Skara."
Eda, Raine, Camila, and Lilith got into the boat and drove back to the mainland.
The two daughters stood on the edge of the island before they looked to each other.
"You got the flash drive?" Skara asked.
"Yeah, but that's not all why I came." Luz replied, pulling out the drive from her pocket.
"What else is there?" Skara asked.
"I actually did want to hang out with you." Luz said, "Besides, we're both tech geniuses. So, we could make some kind of computer to keep the whole... vigilante stuff on."
"You mean a high security private computer that can block out even GOVERNMENT hackers?" Skara asked.
"Yes." Luz said simply.
"…. Where has this friendship been all my life?" Skara asked with a smirk.
"Gravesfield, Connecticut." Luz said as they walked to the owl house.
"So, what-"
"Hello!"
Luz fell at the Owl... thing.
"Hooty, leave her alone." Skara said, "Sorry Luz, that's moms security system."
Skara brought Luz inside.
"So, as I was saying, what's the most secured terminal you've hacked into?" Luz asked.
"The CIA." Skara asked, "You?"
"The Pentagon." Luz said with a smirk.
Skara put a hand on Luz's shoulder.
"Teach me your ways."
The two got to work. Luz was currently using a soldering iron to get the motherboard in the casing. Skara was working on the encryptions and firewalls.
"So, you're an MIT Graduate?" Luz asked.
"Yep. I started on my seventeenth birthday and graduated before my eighteenth. I am, officially, the smartest person in the world." Skara said, before her phone rang, "Hello? Boscha, calm down. What's going on?"
Twenty minutes earlier:
Boscha was working in her Café while Amity was trying to go through the files. Boscha was doing it, but Amity had her go work the café to cool down. The door opened and the bell got Boscha's attention.
"Welcome to-" Boscha's mood soured, "Elizabeth."
"Boscha, please call me mom."
"Hell... No. You haven't had that right for a LONG time." Boscha said as she glared at the woman before her.
Elizabeth looked almost exactly like Boscha, except a few inches shorter and her hair was down in a professional librarian bun.
"Boscha, I just wanted to come here and talk." Elizabeth said, "Just hear what I have to say and if you really want me gone, I'll leave."
Boscha glared at her in silence for a solid ten seconds before talking.
"Mary, you're in charge until I get back." Boscha said, "As for you, Elizabeth, follow me."
Boscha led her Ex-mother out of the Café and around the corner of it into the parking lot.
"Alright, what do you want?" Boscha asked, eyeing the woman in front of her.
"Boscha, it's... your father... he's dying."
"Oh, typical. You only come to me when shit like this happens." Boscha said, "Some one else is dying. You know, tell me, if I was bleeding out on the ground, and the only person I thought to call was you. Would you- no, close your mouth and don't stop until I'm done talking! If I was bleeding out and I called you for help, would you at least pick up the fucking phone!?"
Elizabeth looked away. This wasn't a fake scenario; it was something that actually happened. It was the reason Boscha cut off ties with her family... but it was also a wakeup call. Not a day has gone past that Elizabeth doesn't think about it, thinking about how it could've been different if she answered the phone... and how different it could've been if Amity didn't find Boscha.
"Boscha, I know you probably don't care about what I'm about to say, but I want you to know... I'm sorry. I'm sorry, your father is sorry. We know we've been horrible parents, we know that we've messed up, and we know we can never fix that... but please, at least give us a chance to make it up to you."
Boscha looked at her and glared.
"Sorry, but I'm afraid that a simple apology means nothing coming from you." Boscha said, "You know, I hope I never have kids, because I never want to find out if I have the gene that makes me a horrible mother."
Boscha was about to storm past her when a white van rolled up. The back opened and a group of masked men got out. They fired a dart into Boscha's neck, which made her start to loss consciousness. They fired another one at Elizabeth and threw her in the back of the van, leaving Boscha unconscious on the ground.
Present time:
"And that's what happened!" Boscha said, "I know I don't like her, but... I never wanted her to die!"
"Boscha calm down, everything will be fine." Skara said.
"How will it!?" Boscha asked, "You know what that group does to witches!"
Boscha started to cry.
"The last thing I said to her was basically say she was a horrible mother."
Luz was leaning against Skara's bed while listening to the call, that's when she got an idea. She pulled the phone away and muted it for a minute.
"Does that Café have any traffic cameras around it?" Luz asked.
"A few, wh- oh!" Skara said, catching on.
"Pull up the feed from the last thirty minutes."
Luz handed Skara back the phone and she unmuted it. Skara tried to comfort Boscha while not trying to give away what they were doing, while Luz opened her duffel bag and pulled out her "Work" Clothes.
"You brought those with you?" Skara asked in surprise.
"You never know when you need to get in gear." Luz said as she began changing. "Is there a spare boat in this island?"
"I can do you one better." Skara said as she got up and went to her closet, opening and pulling out a metal looking board. "Ever wanted to ride on a real like hoverboard?"
Luz took the Hoverboard, and Skara handed her an earpiece.
"Here, I can talk you through it as I track the van through the cameras."
Luz took the earpiece and put it in, running outside and flying on the hoverboard.
"Luz, can you hear me?"
"I hear you." Luz responded.
"Okay, I have the license plate of the van and I'm running a search program to scan the cameras for that specific license plate. The last location of it was heading out of town."
"Well, that could lead to anywhere."
"Yes, if I didn't send my drone to look for the van. When I find it, I'll let you know. Just head north and I'll let you know the location."
Luz headed north, waiting with bated breath. Messing with her is one thing, but messing with her friends is another... she isn't going to hold back this time.
