Luz got about four hours of sleep. Honestly, this is the most sleep she's gotten in the last decade. She only gets about 10 hours of sleep every week. How her body functions like that? Luz stopped carrying about that question, though if she told Lilith and her new friends, they would be worried. She knew it was only a matter of time before Lilith really learned to the extent of her secret life, and Luz dreaded how overprotective she was going to be. Like treating her like a baby bird or a delicate vase or something. She hated the idea, she wasn't fragile, she was a powerful ass kicker. Lilith already knew Luz was tough from their spar and hopefully she remembered now that she knew Luz was Mr. Hardcore.

'I really hope I'm just worrying too much.' Luz thought as she walked down the stairs.

Due to her sleeping earlier than usual, she had more energy and got out of bed with some pep in her step. She checked the bullet wound from yesterday and saw it was healing quite nicely.

'It should be good by tomorrow at least.' Luz thought as she put on some shorts and a shirt before heading to the kitchen for breakfast, or whatever there is. She needs to eat a lot as she burns almost half her weight every night.

"Good morning, Luz." Lilith said.

"Oh, you're up."

"Well, it's hard to sleep when you're about to get shot and then watch as your daughter beats your attackers to death."

"Oh yeah, I figured you wouldn't be able to sleep from that." Luz said as she rubbed her head. "So, I guess mom filled you in, huh?"

"Yes, she did, and I have to say, I'm just as concerned as she is. Like you said to me, I know you're strong but that's not enough." Lilith said as she looked worried, gazing at Luz's bullet wound. "Especially if you receive a fatal shot like that last one could've been."

Drawing a spell circle, Lilith used a healing spell on Luz to make it so the bullet wound never happen aside from the scarred skin.

"Listen, I know there's no stopping you from doing this, but please, let me know if you get hurt, I can help." Lilith said.

"I know but you can't be here all the time." Luz said as she walked to the fridge. "What if you're out of town? I can't do magic and I don't know any other healers in town."

"Maybe not but these can help." Lilith said as she reached into a drawer and pulled out a pack of patches with blue hands on them. "These are healing patches. They're full of healing magic that will heal you over night. Just one can accelerate the healing process times 3."

"Really? And you just have these at the ready?"

"I may be retired, but I am still a dedicated scientist." Lilith said, "I didn't make a cure for diabetes just to stop l trying to help humanity."

"Mmm, good point." Luz said as she took the patches and counted them.

'44, good amount.' She thought.

"I always try and keep a few around at all time." Lilith said, "I may have magic, but I never took Healing classes in school, I was a potion track student. But when you spend hours near dangerous chemicals and fire, it's best to be prepared."

"Hmm, I like that." Luz said with a nod as she opened the fridge for her breakfast.

"If you want, I can make you something." Lilith said.

"No, it's fine, I can cook for myself a bit. At least the basic stuff." Luz said as she pulled out a cartoon of eggs and a pack of bacon.

"Well, if you're sure." Lilith said.

"Just because I can beat people to death, doesn't mean I can't handle nonviolent things. Just to show you, I'll make you some eggs and bacon too." Luz said as she placed the food on the counter and grabbed a skillet.

She began cooking and Lilith looked surprised.

'How can someone so strong and violent be so gentle at the same time?' She thought.

The way Luz moved as she cooked was fast but graceful, showing that she had a little feminine side to her tomboy appearance. Luz put the food in front of Lilith.

"Tada."

"Good presentation." Lilith said as she sat down at the table and summoned a fork. "Now for the taste."

Taking up some eggs, Lilith took a gracious bit as she hummed over the flavor.

"Okay, I'll admit, you're a good cook." Lilith said.

"Damn right I am." Luz said as she made her own plate.

"And you'll make an excellent wife to some lucky man or woman someday." Lilith said with a small smirk.

"Now let's not get ahead of ourselves. My love life isn't the most active if you know what I mean." Luz said as she sat at the table. "Last time that someone hit on me... it was with a crowbar, and I shot them in the head."

"That was a terrible and morbid joke, Luz." Lilith said to her.

"Wasn't a joke. Point is, my life is too chaotic for something like love." Luz said as she began eating.

"I used to think the same way until I met Camila. And like that, my life became so much better because I had love. One day, you'll find that special someone too." Lilith said with a smile to Luz.

"Yeah, but I doubt it. I don't know anyone could handle me." Luz said.

"Well, what about Abomination or Toxin?" Camila asked, overhearing about Luz's love life. "I've seen some photos of them in the news and they appear to be very attractive women."

"Mom!" Luz said.

"She does make a point, Luz. You did meet their identities last night, perhaps one of them caught your fancy." Lilith said as she pointed to Luz with a tiny smirk.

"No! Neither of them did!" Luz said as she was blushing before her moms.

'Why am I blushing?!' She thought to herself

"That look says it all." Camila said with an innocent smile as she got herself some juice.

"You know what, I'm going to be in the gym!" Luz said, storming out of the kitchen.

"That girl got it bad." Lilith said.

"Very much. It's almost cute seeing her like this. She never had this phase when she was a teenager." Camila said before noticing the left over eggs and bacon on the side. "And Luz cooked breakfast too, this is a good day."

"I'm guessing it's rare that she does that?" Lilith asked.

"Her dad taught her to cook."

"Ah, I see." Lilith said, "I'm assuming that anything related to her dad results in a Traumatic episode for her?"

"I've tried everything, taken her to everyone that can help, but she still isn't able to move on." Camila said, "I just wish I could help more."

"Being there for her is more than enough. And I saw myself that she cooked breakfast without a traumatic episode, it's a sign she is getting better." Lilith said.

"I hope so." Camila said.
