Later, they all met at the Café. Everyone was dressed and sitting in the booth in the more private area or the cafe as everyone placed their orders for food and drinks. Luz was the only one that didn't get coffee. The caffeine wakes you up, but the crash dulls your senses.
"Now that we're all here, we can talk without any secrets." Skara said as she turned to Luz. "Now you're probably wondering how Luz learned about Boscha and Amity."
"Just to be clear, I've already been filled in about the town's magic side, so you don't have to beat around the bush." Luz said.
"Yeah, we do wonder how." Willow said.
"Well-"
"I saw them unmask last night." Luz said.
Skara, Boscha, and Amity looked shocked. She was still going to lie to them? They would say something, but Luz discreetly grabbed the knife and had a threatening look.
'It's my secret, I decide when to tell it.' Luz thought.
They seemed to get the message and subtly nodded to her, keeping quiet.
"How? Normally, they're more careful than that." Gus wondered.
"It happened last night while I was exploring the town a bit. I got stopped by another guy who had beef with my dad and pulled a gun on me, shot me from behind right here." Luz said as she put a hand on same area she took a sniper round last night, bending the real story a bit. "They arrived as he tried to finish it before taking me back to their place to get it patched up. I came too when they were taking off their masks."
"You took her back to your place? Why not a hospital?" Willow asked Boscha, believing the story.
"There wasn't time. She was losing blood too quickly." Boscha said, rolling with it.
"Besides, Toxin and Abomination, going to a hospital? I don't know if you noticed but the cops aren't exactly fans of us." Amity said.
"No police force is with vigilantes." Luz quipped with a shrug, "The police in my town had Mr. Hardcore on a 'Kill on Sight' list."
"Damn. Your town must've really hated Mr. Hardcore." Skara's commented as a waitress came with their drinks.
"It was actually half and half if I go by online reviews but I think we're getting off topic." Luz said as she grabbed her drink, a milkshake.
"Aren't you lactose intolerant?" Skara asked.
Luz pulled out a bottle of pills.
"These help me with that." Luz said.
"But you wouldn't need them if you just didn't drink it." Gus said.
"Don't blame me because god made ice cream too delicious." Luz said as she began drinking her milkshake.
'She almost seems normal now.' Boscha and Amity thought.
This is what everyone saw, the mask. Not her hat, glasses, and mask, this is her real mask. Luz Noceda. Not a person, but an entity designed to make everyone think she's okay. Would she ever break this mask and show her true self or was her true self even behind that mask anymore? Luz couldn't tell anymore but she…she really hoped it was.
"Now, onto the other reason we're here. We found some interesting fills from the creeps that kidnapped my mom and we need some going through them." Boscha whispered as she pulled out one of the files.
"What did you find?" Willow asked.
"Well, we have a name." Amity said, "Someone named, Emperor Belos. Problem is, he seems to be a ghost. No previous records, no other names, nothing."
"We can put him aside for now, let's focus on the other big guy we have to deal with. This guy named, Commander." Boscha said.
In another part of the city, Commander was listening to the sniper.
"So, you failed?"
"Well, I-"
Commander grabbed him, with one arm, by the neck and listed him off the ground. he pushed his thumb in and the sniper went limp. He dropped the body and walked away.
"I guess it's time for me to deal with this pest."
The Commander was DONE playing games, it was time to show this new vigilante who is in charge around here.
