"Luz!"

Luz started opening her eyes, seeing that she was in Amity and Boscha's penthouse.

'How…...How the hell am I still alive?' Luz thought as she pulled her head up, gazing at her body.

It was covered in bandages, splints, and amateur stitches with dozens of healing patches all over her body. The exact same healing patches Lilith gave her and told her to take with her before she left.

"Damn, those patches saved my ass." Luz said, her throat sour.

"You're lucky." Amity said.

Luz looked over and saw her.

"What the hell happened?" Luz asked.

"You almost bled out." Amity said, "When Skara lost you on Comms, she immediately called up. We got in there and saw you passed out with a near gone pulse."

"Near gone, huh? I must have the luck of the devil to have survived." Luz said.

"The devil and the Titan but it was touch and go for a bit." Amity said as she sat down beside Luz, frowning sadly. "We're all glad you're alright but don't scare us like that again."

"I don't think that's a promise I can keep." Luz said as she gazed back to the ceiling. "How long have I been out?"

Amity looked nervous at saying.

"Three days."

Luz stared blankly at Amity, blinking a few times before she finally said something.

"My moms are gonna kill me." She said, knowing they must be worried sick.

"About that…Skara sort of filled them in too." Amity added as she scratched her head.

Luz got up, which made Amity try to get her back down.

"You're hurt, let us help." Amity said, "We're a team."

Luz froze at that as Commander's voice came into her mind.

'See what happens when you bring your little friends in this game?'

"No we're not!" Luz said.

"Luz, no matter what you say, we're-"

Luz grabbed Amity by the neck and held her in the air.

"No, we're not." She growled, "What do you see when you look at me? Do I look like a vase you can just glue back together? No, I am not. I am broken, far beyond any repair."

Luz dropped Amity and walked to the exit.

"I will never be a part of a team." Luz said.

Amity looked at that, still catching her breath.

"Why?" She asked.

"Because the last time I was part of a team... that person died saving me." Luz said, finally saying it, "I... I can't have that happen again."

Luz left, leaving Amity to her thoughts.

'So that's why she reacted like that. She's still blaming herself.' Amity thought as she held her sore neck.
