Luz entered the manor and went to her room. Slamming the door shut and locking it. She slammed her hands on her trunk, before letting out a deep breath through her nose.
'I loseā¦I lose in the most terrible and humiliating way!' Luz thought as she put her head on her trunk.
Luz's phone beeped. A message from Skara. Luz looked at it.
'This is live!' She texted.
A video started playing.
"Hello, Bonesborough." Commander said, "I just had to show the person that happened to clear his schedule just for me."
The camera panned over and showed the Mayor of Bonesborough. Commander put a gun against his leg and pulled the trigger. The Mayor screamed in pain as the camera went back to the Commander.
"Now, I'm sure you've heard about that vigilante called Mr. Hardcore. Many don't believe he existed, but he did... not anymore. He's dead. Now for the others that have been around town. This... Toxin and Abomination. I am giving you two hours to get give yourselves up to me, or the Mayor dies. And should any police come by."
He holds up a detonator.
"Well, I'm sure this says enough."
Waving goodbye, the Commander had the camera shut off as Skara texted Luz again but Luz ignored it as she stood up and gazed at her body. Even if it wasn't at full strength, it would still be enough to move after resting for 3 days. Still, her suit wasn't in any condition to go back out. Seeing as this was a massive hostage situation, she would need to be careful.
"Time to go with the stealth option." She said.
She opened the trunk and pulled out the stealth suit. A black denim jacket. black jeans, a new Kevlar vest, a dark gray shirt, a black scarf mask, black sunglasses, black sneakers, a black and grey version of her hat, and lastly, the one thing that will give her a fighting chance. Two gauntlets that increase someone's strength. They were old prototypes that she never had a chance to finish, so the mechanics were very exposed, but beggars can't be choosers.
"Hope the wrist grappler attachments work. Never got the chance to test them." Luz said.
Grabbing the gauntlets, Luz looked them over and saw a bit of dust on them before she put them in her hands. Luz threw shadow punches to test out the weight and speed, making sure her punches aren't sluggish.
"Okay, time to go." Luz said as she made her way to the window.
"STOP right there."
Turning to the sudden voice, Luz saw Lilith and Camila were standing at the door of her room.
"You're not going to stop me." Luz said.
"I can and will, young lady. We were worried sick about you!" Lilith shouted as they marched to Luz.
"And I'm sorry about that. But I can't stop and sit by while someone might die!"
"Well, what if YOU DIE?!" Camila asked as she was crying all over again.
"Then my life will finally have meaning!" Luz as she dove out the window.
"Luz!" Camila and Lilith shouted as they rushed to the window, seeing Luz grapple away towards town.
'Is that what she thinks? That sacrificing her life for another will make her worth something?' Lilith thought as Camila cried into her embrace again.
