While puzzling on the specifics of his plan regarding the Malfoy's, the opportunity presented itself with the most immediate aspect.

It was the next day and a good portion of the castle residents knew about the incident concerning his parents. They only knew they were attacked and somehow Link had found out. The how, where and why were not known, nor the fact that Link was 'missing' for half an hour yesterday.

Link had just entered the Great Hall, craning his head to see where his friends had chosen to sit down this time. It alternated between the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor tables, usually with Luna, Rose, Neville as his companions. Though sometimes, Ron, Parvati and Lavender join them.

Just as he had spotted the group at the Gryffindor table, Link was accosted by Draco and his group. Swaggering about, a smug expression on his face. He seemed to have gained some modicum of courage from the numbers on his side.

"Hello, Granger. I heard some pretty interesting news." started Malfoy, his grin threatened to split his face, he was smiling so wide.

A few people were already looking at the confrontation as it promised to be entertaining.

"I'm sure you did. Why don't you and your babysitters step aside, I want to eat my breakfast in peace." Link really did want to join his friends, especially as today seems to be one of the rare days Luna had decided to join them. He walked towards the Gryffindor table, barely paying any heed to the blond ponce. Something that angered the Slytherin.

"You dare ignore me, mudblood?" His voice was especially elevated at the last part, eliciting gasps from those that heard, which weren't much. The hall was quite noisy, not many were paying attention. Professor Flitwick had seen the possible confrontation and, concerned that things might go out of hand, started getting up to disperse the crowd. Though he was not rushed.

When he saw Link stop not far from him, Draco's smug expression returned, with a flick of his head he indicated for Zabini, Nott, Crabbe and Goyle to surround the boy while he continued talking, unaware that now Professor Flitwick increased his pace and Link's blank eyes that stared at him through the corner of his vision.

Rose and Luna were looking on with curiosity and a little concern. Though they were horrified when they learned that their friend was called such a vile word. They were standing up alongside Neville ready to offer assistance should Link require it.

"You best listen to your betters, lest you wish what happened to your parents to be repeated. Accidents happen after all"

Turning slowly, Link raised his head to look Malfoy right in the eye, no emotions were conveyed through that blank stare. However, for some reason, Draco felt a chill coming up his spine. He ignored it and opened his mouth intending to continue his diatribe.

"Exact-"

Draco was cut off by a punch that came out of nowhere. The fist landed with the first knuckle breaking through the front teeth, while the rest of the fist powered through the cheek and jaw. The force of the strike was strong enough to launch the 12-year old onto the nearest table 2 metres away. The act stunned the hall into bewildered silence as they stared at the young Ravenclaw and the Malfoy heir that was writhing in agony on the table.

The hall exploded into motion, the teachers stood up immediately racing to stop this from going any more out of hand. The students were a flurry of murmurs and baffled chatter.

At the sea of Red and Gold, Fred and George were grinning from ear to ear in unfiltered glee. They were of the very few that were cheering Link on. Rose and company were surprised but happy with the move.

Just as the rest of the group were getting their bearing back, hands-on their wands slowly, for Link, moving into proper aim.

The former military man continued with his motion. He twisted on his left axis dragging the back of his fist along for a sideways sweeping punch hitting Crabbe squarely in his face. Following with the momentum, Link jumped back directly into Goyle's face, his knee flying through the air as it smashed through the boy's chubby face. Link's leg was still ungrounded when it exploded into motion. Extending all the way back for a backwards kick, Zabini collapsed having been stunned by the blow. Nott, seeing the quick devastation wrought upon his comrades, was quick to turn tail and try to escape. 'Try' being the keyword here. It was on his 4th step that a stunner brought him down for the count.

Link saw that the Professors were almost on them, he cast a spell on the Malfoy heir. It was a curse from his world. It's not anything powerful, nor is it lethal. Its sole purpose is to force the recipient into a deep sleep for a week, which will also include some horrible nightmares that will have the recipient writhing as though in pain. It shall occur in the next hour or so. The counter is also simple if you know the spell. It would take the school 3 days at most to figure it out. Enough time to get the Malfoy Patriarch into the school. However, in the chaos, none noticed the spell, not even Draco himself noticed that he was cursed.

"Stop!" Professor McGonagall was surprised. The boy they all had such high expectations of, the boy that was fast becoming the school favourite, just fought and beat up, in the span of a minute, a group of 5 boys.

Surprisingly, the boy did as he was told, he stopped and was just waiting for the professors. Maybe not so surprising considering who it is they are speaking to.

Flitwick was almost in front of Link now. Snape was right behind him, checking up on the students from his house. He was sure to be livid soon.

Dumbledore was carefully blank. He did not know the cause of the altercation. He wishes to know what happened.

"Prefects, please escort these students to the Hospital Wing." he started "Mr Granger, I wish to speak with you in my office. Professor Flitwick, Professor Snape, please accompany me as well."

"Yes, Headmaster." Link knew he was in trouble, and there was a possibility he might get in even bigger trouble soon. After all the Malfoy family are going to be here soon.

As he was leaving with the Professors he heard a pained groan. Malfoy was trying to get the last word out.

"Wait till my father hears of this. You'll be sorry"

"Can't wait to meet him." was the calm reply.

There was a chill in the air. They were still in the heart of winter, it is not surprising that the air was cold still. However, in the magically heated manor, more specifically the extravagant study of the Malfoy Manor. The windows were closed.

In the middle, seated at their grandiose table, Lucius Malfoy and his wife Narcissa were frozen in disbelief. A letter lay opened before them. The content renders the mother insensate and the father speechless.

The day had started well enough. A Hearty breakfast served by their useless house elf. They were discussing a trivial matter related to the bumbling minister that they had in their pocket. They were right in the middle of a conversation related to the hired thugs. They were waiting for them to deliver the news.

It was just not the news they were waiting for. Rodrick, a half-blood they kept in their employ and had tasked him with keeping an eye on the motley crew, came by with a troubling report.

They made their way to the study, waiting for the man to make his statement. Why was he here now? Did he already dispose of the gang? Since when were half-bloods that efficient in their jobs?

"Forgive me, milord, milady. But I lost contact with the Mercenaries."

A beat.

"What do you mean you lost contact?" was the slow reply.

The wizard shivered slightly at the tone.

"I tried getting in touch with Herpo, but he was not in any of the safe houses we provided. Which was suspicious, so I tried looking at the targets, but it seems they are safe. Alarmed as I was, I tried to look for some clues, but I came out empty from every safehouse except the warehouse in the muggle district. That one was burned to the ground. There was nothing of note over there, or if there were it long gone by now."

"Let me get this straight, the mercenaries you guaranteed, just up and left after taking my money, without even doing their job?"

Rodrick's heart went into overdrive, and he broke into a cold sweat. The cold stare he got from the Malfoy lord, and the indifferent one he got from his lady sent shivers down his spine.

"My lord, spare me please, I have done nothing but serve you loyally." He screamed hysterically while kneeling down before them. He slammed his head onto the ground, desperate to grasp a hint of mercy from those dead grey eyes that looked at him as though he were nothing but an insect waiting to be squished.

He was saved by the bell, figuratively speaking. The sound of an owl pecking on the window rang loud in the otherwise silent room.

Narcissa turned her indifferent gaze in the owl's direction. Sighing softly, she stood up and made her way towards the window. Opening it, she extended her arm to retrieve the letter from the bird's grasp. Once the letter was in her hand, she dismissed the Owl and closed the window.

"It seems you were saved from immediate action Roddrick. What does the letter say, Narcissa?" intoned Lucius, his silent scrutiny never once leaving the man's figure.

With the open letter in hand, the Lady Malfoy made her way back to her husband's side, casually reading the missive. At least at first, the deeper she went into the message, the more horrified she felt. Finally, she couldn't stand it anymore.

"Leave us" she started, but when she saw the lowly half-blood hesitate for a second she all but screamed. "LEAVE US!"

Roddrick, thanking whatever lucky stars he had, immediately broke out in a run. He had to get away from these people. Hopefully, they will be distracted by whatever news they received to care about him.

Once the man left, Narcissa felt as though her energy had been sapped away from her. She collapsed at the chair nearest her husband. Who, upon seeing her state, was instantly by her side asking what was wrong.

"Lucius, it's from Hogwarts. Draco is in the infirmary and has been asleep for 2 days now. They say he was injured."

The Lord of House Malfoy no longer had the bearing of arrogance that so often attached to him as fine cologne. His demeanour became strained immediately. His heir, his only son, was comatose? Someone had the audacity to attack his son? He had to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

"I'm leaving."

"I'm coming with you."

"Of course my love. We must present a strong front. The one responsible will answer for his crimes dearly."

With cold eyes, the head of the dark faction and his most trusted of aides were marching straight to Hogwarts. They were going to raise hell.

Link was waiting. He knew the school would inform the parents of the situation of their son. He had been comatose for the past 2 days after all.

He had learnt that Professor Snape was actually the boy's godfather. Which is fine, considering what he had planned. He still remembered the interaction he had with the dour potions master along with the Headmaster and his head of house.

Flashback (Start):

"Mr Granger, please follow us to my office. I'm sure I don't have to explain why." said Dumbledore, solemnly.

"Of course Headmaster" was the calm reply.

The route to the office was filled with tension, Snape was obviously peeved, clenching his teeth in irritation.

However, Link was utterly unconcerned with this. He was not some soft gelatin that anyone can mould into their liking. He had his agenda, and that is all that matters to him. Not to say he can't be influenced by gentle prodding from his close friends, his parents and Rose.

Once in the office, Snape rounded on Link with a snarl present on his face. If he hoped to intimidate the boy he was sorely lacking.

"What do you think you are doing? How dare you assault students in the presence of your professors, and their head of house."

"While the Potions master's tone is harsh, he does have a point. Mr Granger, could you please explain your actions? Why did you fight with the others, in full view of the Professors no less." intervened Professor Flitwick. He hoped to mitigate the situation. Link was his best student, after all, it would be a shame that the student's future suffer due to a moment's blunder.

"You are right, professor. I acted irrationally. I didn't mean for things to go so out of hand. However, I was provoked by Draco. As you know my parents were attacked yesterday evening. Somehow, the school is now aware of that fact, and Malfoy saw it fit to comment on the well-deserved trauma my family went through. I just got caught up in a moment of anger. I apologise for my actions, sir. I will further apologise to Mr Malfoy when he is free from the infirmary."

That seemed to appease them, if only slightly. Snape was not so easily swayed.

"Yes, Granger. That is the least that is required of you, considering your actions. I also want you in detention for a week, cleaning the bedpans of the medical bay. By hand of course. I must stress that Mr Malfoy is off-limits and that you are to care for his every need during this detention period. Do I make myself clear?"

Professor Flitwick interjected before Link could answer once more.

"While I agree to the detention, Professor Snape, I feel the added difficulty of caring for the boy he had just hit to be a tad too severe. I think it best to limit their interaction in the foreseeable future, don't you think?"

A grunt was his only response.

"Yes Professors, I will attend detention. Thank you for being lenient with me." Link said, accepting the punishment gracefully. 'That works perfectly.'

It was at this moment, that through the door to the headmaster's office burst a partial Patronus. Here to deliver the message of the school's mediwitch, Madam Pomfrey.

"Albus, I have to report that all the boys are fine except for one Mr Malfoy. I'm afraid he is unconscious. He will not wake. He must stay within the infirmary for the next few days"

It was silent in the office for a moment as all the adults turned their heads to the only student present, who had a sheepish look on his face.

"I might have hit him a tad too hard"

"Two weeks, Granger"

"Yes Professor"

Flashback (End):

For two days he had been cleaning bedpans manually. It was not a pleasant experience. On the plus side, he was praised as a hero by the majority of the school.

The two troublemakers were especially enthusiastic in their praise. He had been walking down the corridor in order to head to his next class. There were quite a few people present at the time when all of a sudden there was an explosion at the ceiling with rose petals floating down. Even Peeves was throwing flowers, though his still had thorns on them, some were even exploding.

The twins sauntered over from gods knows where, they prostrated themselves before Link and loudly proclaimed him a hero and a snake killer. Even if there were no actual death, killer sounded better than subduer.

For the rest of the day, they also followed him around ushering people away from him, howling with laughter that they best move away lest they be bested by the snake killer.

It was done in great humour, and most of the school had even gone along with the gag. Though the Slytherins were mostly irritated with the title.

The 4 included in the scuffle made it a point to avoid the Ravenclaw, too ashamed of their defeat to face the boy.

Rose and his friends had first been concerned for Link regarding his punishment as he had been taken to the Headmasters office. However, once they had learnt of his chastisement is nought but a simple slap on the wrist, all things considered, they had joined in on the teasing and general horseplay with their friend.

Rose was especially giddy, Malfoy and his goons had always been a thorn in her side. Now she had not seen them since the incident. It was a good source of relaxation.

In any case, it was 6 pm, Link was making his way to the medical bay for his detention. Like always, Madam Pomfrey would be in charge of his reprimand.

Though in his usual Ravenclaw characteristic, he had somehow convinced the strict mediwitch to teach him some healing spells and diagnostic spells. These were things that were not possible in his old life. Healing was reserved for the priests of the church of light. Healing magic was considered a divine spell. Mages had some minor healing incantations, but they weren't very effective. It could be considered as basic first aid, enough not to die but nothing is guaranteed.

It didn't take long for the Lord and Lady of the noble house of Malfoy to make it to Hogwarts. Lucius as a board member of the school had unlimited access to the great castle, his wife also enjoys such privileges.

The hospital wing in Hogwarts was empty at the moment, save for the mediwitch, Madam Pomfrey, who was always on duty. The fire turned green all of a sudden, roaring to life and informing the Witch to her two new guests.

They were gliding across the room heading straight to their son's bed. They were both dressed in long green robes that billowed behind them as they moved, strangely reminiscent to the bat of the dungeon, though of a more subdued manner, or rather graceful.

Their pace and manner of walking emphasised their noble heritage, or so they liked to believe. They were graceful, elegant and imposed a certain aura of power in their gait. Many a witch and wizard would be hard-pressed to proceed in a similar manner. The Malfoy and Black family was a cut above after all, and it must be portrayed at all times of the day and night.

As they stopped by the only occupied bed in the hospital wing, the breath stopped short. Their young son lay there unresponsive. Almost at peace. Had they not heard his breathing they would have thought him gone from this world.

Narcissa had tears in her eyes. Her son is injured, suffering from some unknown trauma. All because of some mudblood bastard. The worst part is that she is helpless to help him. She is not well versed in medical magic to be of any help.

Lucius on the other hand stood by, teeth grinding in mounting frustration and anger. The audacity of the mudblood. He dare lay a hand on his son? His heir? The fact that it happened not a day after the attempted attack on his parents was too perfect an even to be a coincidence. Link had specifically targetted his son, as though he knew the man behind the attack. But that idea was discarded almost immediately, how could a boy be able to get such information. No matter how much of a genius he is, or how much his son had exaggerated his prowess, it is unthinkable that a boy not even in his teens was able to overpower ten men, mercenaries experienced in the art of conflict. The mere thought of it was preposterous, yet Lucius had a feeling that he was missing something. A sinking emotion gnawed at his stomach, but no matter how much he thought about it, he could not figure out the reason for it.

Madam Pomfrey made her appearance at this moment, approaching the two distraught parents in order to convey the symptoms of their child. Hopefully to ease them of their anxiety. She may dislike the Malfoy family, but no parents should go through the agony of watching their child suffer. The occasional groans coming from the boy along with the minute flinches the mother displayed at every sound her son provided was more than the Mediwitch could bear.

"Mr Malfoy, Mrs Malfoy" She may be sympathetic, but that doesn't mean she will call them lord and lady. "Draco is not in any serious condition. According to the diagnosis he is in perfect health. I-"

"Then why is he unconscious? It's because he is not in perfect condition. Do not cloud our heads with your incompetence." Narcissa sneered in disdain.

Without even acknowledging her presence, Lucius coldly breathed out: "Leave Us!"

'Well, that was rude' though she thought it, Madam Pomfrey did not outwardly react to the comments. She left with a quiet huff. 'It's best they don't know the entire truth yet. The headmaster will have a solution soon.'

Once alone, Narcissa looked at her husband, her eyes wild and red from unshed tears and desperation.

"We need to summon that mudblood bastard. He must pay for what he did to our Draco. Look he is in agony. How dare he assault our son?"

"Do not worry dear, I was about to summon a Hogwarts elf to go fetch the boy from his dorm immediately."

They knew that the attacker of their son was a muggle-born, but not his identity, they were hoping the elves to bring the perpetrator before them. Though he has no absolute control over the Hogwarts elves, as a member of the board he had the privileges to give a few commands within the castle. One of which was his right to summon any student at any moment. Of course, that was under the pretext that the student's head of house or the Headmaster of the school be present.

The sound of the door opening brought them out of their conversation as they both looked and saw a boy, about their son's age, walk in and close the door behind him.

The second-year glanced at them in surprise. He clearly did not expect the two of them to be present.

Lord Malfoy was about to order the child to leave when he recognised him as the muggle-born he ordered the hit on his parents. This was the child that he conspired against, what are the chances he will meet him at this moment. The fates were ironic like that.

Upon entering the Infirmary, Link was slightly stunned to see two new people present other than Madam Pomfrey. He was not entirely surprised either. The man, tall and indifferently handsome, donned in a beautiful dark green robe. With designs of snakes curling around the cuff, and the most expensive of silk used as the fabric. The woman a noble sort of beauty. Cold and aloof, yet with a certain charm woven into her very being that she stood out just by standing in place. Her robe was a stunning black robe, her lapels adorned with a mixture of snakes and ravens. She stood as the epitome of pureblood nobility, and her grace emphasised it.

"Hello, you must be Dracos parents?" started Link, he immediately recognised Lucius. He was the source of his revenge after all. "I recognise you, sir, from Diagon alley."

"Indeed. What are you doing here, boy?" sneered the father.

"Oh, I'm just attending my detention. You see, I'm the reason your son is in that condition." the statement uttered so calmly and matter of factly, as though he were describing the weather, was like a bomb that exploded within the Malfoy parents. Their eyes widened in disbelief, which was quickly morphing into anger.

Lucius's wand was immediately drawn from his sceptre, aimed right at the insolent child. His wife was not too far behind. Both of them were willing to teach this child a lesson he may never forget. Unfortunately for both, their expected outcomes may not be too close to reality.

"Avada…"

"Cruc-"

Before either spell could even leave their wands, Link had his wand ready pointed in between the two of them. Silently, two spells were released instantaneously and simultaneously. Each headed for a different target. One targetted the Lord, while the other slammed into the Lady.

Their wands were floating above their widening gaze. Farther and farther it went, their outstretched arms attempting to retrieve them were nowhere close to their location.

They were horrified and stunned to realise they were now powerless against someone they tried to curse. Lucius was even more so, as he had underestimated someone his son and Snape had constantly cautioned him to be wary of as he was an exceptional genius.

He is about to pay for his arrogance, his wife right alongside him. What a fool he had been. 'No matter, this is a child. I will overpower him before he can cast a second time. I will throw the dagger I have hidden on me at all times.'

"This is the same move that beat Voldemort last year. So do not feel too bad you lost, ok?"

"You dare utt-" snarled Lucius, his previous plan momentarily forgotten in the face of his rage, a mistake that will cost him dearly.

"BIND"

Golden chains rose suddenly from the ground, as though they were springs from a fountain. Their glimmering appearance was almost enchanting, enough that the Malfoy parents were mesmerised by the sight.

Just as fast did they rise, the chains were immediately upon the adults forcing them to kneel before a 'mudblood' child.

"What is this?" growled Lucius.

"What did you do to us?" cried Narcissa.

"Oh, nothing, nothing. I just had a runic array placed right by Dracos bed for the moment you both came to visit us. You cannot believe how hard it was to keep them hidden for so long. Luckily Dumbledore did not come by often. It was easier to deceive the matron. Good woman though, very dedicated to her patients."

"You expect me to believe that a child was able to create something so complicated?" scoffed Lucius.

"I don't expect much from you, don't worry"

That got the man's face a shade of red in rage. This mudblood knows how to get to people.

With a smirk on his face, Link began his explanation.

"I'm sure you are no doubt aware that my parents were attacked 4 days ago. Quite an unfortunate thing, won't you agree? Of course, you do. Now, you can understand my anger when I had felt it. As you can see, I am fairly proficient in runes. So I used my understanding and enchanted two bracelets for my parents. Their use is fairly simple, if they are to detect any magical spells heading for their wearers, the bracelet will deploy a strong shield that should hold up for 10 seconds. The second function is to immediately portkey their users back to a pre-encoded location where wards will be up to protect my parents until my arrival. Amazing right? It also notifies me of the moment the attack happens. In my haste to get to my parents, I revealed a bit more of my abilities than I had intended. I apparated to the house. Once I made sure they were both safe at home, I apparated to the location of the attack, as I had obtained that from my parents. Once there, I was able to trace back the location of the ten thugs that had committed the crime. I followed them to this abandoned muggle warehouse, I'm sure you know the one. I confronted them, bound them, and extracted the information I needed in a rather gruesome manner. Lo and behold, the mastermind behind the attack on my parents was you, Lucius. Of course, you went through an intermediary, but the mercenaries had been able to dig up who the middle man really worked for. Exciting, am I right?"

The Lord and Lady Malfoy were in shock. They could hardly believe what it is they were hearing. They were losing their composure over the fact that they were caught so easily.

"You are understanding where this is going I hope. Let me clue you in, do you know why your intermediary, Rodrick, had only been able to find the space where the safe house once stood? Do you know why no one found the mercenaries? Is it coming together?"

The shock was slowly morphing into terror. This child, what had he done? He is not from the light, his actions are proof of this. But he can't be from the dark, he does not have the lineage. The dread of what he was implying was pooling in their heart, he couldn't mean… will they? No, but Dumbledore will not allow it. There will be consequences.

They were calming themselves down. Logically speaking they should be safe.

"It seems you got what I meant. That's right, they all died, I then blew up the place so that no one knows what happened there. You two are now the only ones aware of what happened that day. You know what that means right? You two are going to suffer just as you had planned for me to suffer. As soon as I had learnt that you were behind the attack, I started thinking about how I will get back at you. First I started by sending your son to the hospital, don't worry he will wake up tomorrow, I'll cast the delayed spell right after we are done. Second, I influenced the professors to force my detention to be in the infirmary. Professor Snape helped me in that regard, not that he knows it. I gave him a gentle nudge, going around his mental defences, to give me the detention. I started getting close with the mediwitch, convincing her to teach me medical magic spells. They are quite useful, so it wasn't a loss on my part, but this also gave me the added benefit of practising my spells within the vicinity. Giving me ample time to be in the room, I set up the runic array. I had to hide it carefully so that in case Dumbledore ever visited, I might be able to avoid scrutiny. Finally, I waited on you. I waited for the both of you to come so that I can finally exact my revenge. I hope you appreciate my patience, after all, I made so many preparations for the both of you."

Their fright skyrocketed as the explanation continued. The both of them were looking at this child not as a human, but as a demon from the deepest confines of hell, here to punish them. This was a creature of pure torment.

"You're a monster.." whispered Narcissa.

"No milady, you created the monster." was the smiling reply.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Next chapter I will explain the details of Link's plan. I will also continue with the story's plot. Until next time.
