Rebirth
It's very dark in here. I can't see a thing. I can't move. Where am i? I hear noises outside. A sort of clunking. What is it? I hear voices, talking. The speech is muffled, i cannot understand it. One speaker has a deep voice. The other has a scratchy voice. I feel like i'm being lifted, being taken somewhere. I am shifted to the right by this motion. I can tell now that i am in a tank of some sort, with a thick liquid sloshing around. I can feel the wires attached to me. To my arm....There's many on my back.....A few on my leg......One on my head. The tank is being set down now. I can hear it contact the metal floor. I can hear a hissing noise. I think it's air. I can hear some metal sounds. I think it is screws and bolts being loosened. A bright light blinds me. i cannot see. The liquid in my tank now begins to slowly drain. The tank itself falls apart, into six pieces, the components of a cube. I open my eyes again, slowly. I can see now. My vision is still a little blurry, but it looks like i am in a laboratory of some sort. I can see computer consoles, chairs, and the two men who have been speaking.
"Major Kusanagi, welcome back." the tall one says to me. He is very tall, and has broad shoulders. He has blonde hair, spiked up. He wears a pair of dark sunglasses, a light tan jacket with the sleeves rolled up over a green shirt, police issue boots, and a pair of dark green pants. He offers a hand to me. I extend my own, and he pulls me up to my feet. My legs wobble for a moment. I correct them and stand firm. He speaks with a commanding tone. "Major," he greets me, "Welcome back to the real world. We had you installed in a new body after you destroyed your last. We had to backup your old memory on disk and erase the original. Here, put this in the slot on your arm.". I do as he tells me, and i black out for a moment. As i come back online, i can now see more clearly, and my optical sensor indicate to me who he is. He is Bateu, my partner, and and expert in the field of criminal actvities. The scratchy voiced man's name is Togusa, he is the only human in sector 9, and is a regular police officer, although he is very good at his job. He seems to have a jack to the cybernet, even though he is human. The men speak to me as the lead me to a locker room, down a dark hallway. I need to get dressed, they tell me. I have an assignment to do....
