Moonlight Night

The dojo was quiet. Night had fallen over the town of Tokyo, and the inhabitants of the Kamiya Dojo were all asleep.

Wait a minute. What's this?

Kamiya Kaoru leaned against one of the pillars lazily, drowzy and yet unable to sleep. Her mind was plagued with thoughts of a certain red-headed swordsman in the room behind her. Her mind was too restless. Her heart wanted an answer.

Kaoru shook her head wearily. Was love really so complicated? She wished her mother were here to advise her.

Kenshin was just so dense. The impatient raccoon that she was, she couldn't wait for Kenshin to make the first move. She had dropped hints to him so many times, it exceeded the number of Yahiko's shinai swings he practiced. She even asked Megumi and Sano. Of course Tae had offered to help.

She couldn't understand why he was so dense.

She sighed.

Men.

The shoji behind her opened. She nearly jumped out of her skin when Kenshin touched her shoulder lightly.

"Kaoru... is everything alright? I could hear you from inside." Kenshin looked at her with a look of concern.

Kaoru nodded weakly. Boy, he could be scary when he wanted to.

"Would you like to come in for awhile?" Kenshin asked her gently.

She couldn't believe her ears. He was inviting her into his room?! It was practically an open invitation to-

She shook her head mentally. Get a grip on yourself! One step at a time...

Kenshin closed the book he was reading earlier. Kaoru sat quietly behind him, afraid of disturbing him. After all, she was the one who made him go out and see what was wrong with her.

"I didn't know you read." she told Kenshin.

Kenshin grinned. "I didn't know you stayed up late."

A shiver ran down Kaoru's spine. That grin was... implicating. Whoops. Was he intending to do something?

Kenshin must've read the look on her face, because he inched up behind her and put an arm around her waist. "You wanna hear what I just read?" Kenshin whispered seductively into her ear.

Kaoru nodded slightly. "There was once a swordsman looking for his future. He met a charming young kendo insructer and fell in love with her. For days and weeks, he longed to tell her of how he felt, but was too afraid to confront his own feelings and her, afraid that she would reject him. One night, he finally decided to confront her. Unbeknownst to him, she had sceretly fallen for him too and welcomed him with open arms. That night, they mdae love to each other."

Kaoru gasped. That was exactly the relationship they had.

Kenshin pressed Kaoru closer to himself. "So, do you have anything to say to me? Koishii..."

Kaoru was speechless. In a swift movement, Kenshin flipped her so that she was lying down. He held her hands above her head, and looked at her intensely.

"Both you and I know that's out story Kaoru, I won't deny that to you. Don't you think its time we both stopped fooling around?" He tightened his hold on her wrist and thigh.

"Kenshin... I.." she paused and blushed. "I don't know what to say..." Swallowing the lump that had developed in her throat, she almost stopped breathing when Kenshin plopped himself next to her and wrapped a leg around her waist, and pulled her even closer to his own body. Bringing a hand to her neck, he pushed her head gently and kissed her.

Being inexperienced as she was, she ddn't know how to react. Nevertheless, Kenshin guided her gently.

Breaking off releuctantly, Kenshin buried his head into her chest, sighing.

"Oyasumi Koishii."
