Unwanted Solider
What is a solider to do once the war is over? How does one carry out the rest of their lives if battle is all they had ever known? How do they return to humanity when programmed to be inhuman?
Those were the questions that rambled through the mind of Heero Yuy as he looked out the window. He had transferred to this school a week ago, desperately trying to find a way to live as any other sixteen-year-old boy would.
Heero sighed. It was no use. He thrived in the heat of battle, lived for it's every moment. He grabbed the closest thing he could find and hurled it at the mirror across the room. It collided with the looking glass, shattering. Both crystal and silver reflections fell to the desk on the floor like sparkling rain.
Abruptly he turned away. It had been the crystal dove Releena gave him. He cared not for the spoiled little princess. It was he doing that made him have no purpose. He cursed her and her pacifistic ways. How could one live like that? To never fight or quarrel was beyond Heero's comprehension.
Picking himself up he looked for his bottled answer. There in the drawer it sat waiting for when Heero had finally given up. He had found it. Impatiently he unscrewed the lid and guzzled down its contents.
A swift pain started in his stomach. He doubled over in agony. Putting a hand on the black carpeting, he kneeled with the small bottle tightly clutched in his left hand. He clenched his teeth and looked up to the window. It was so beautiful outside. The setting sun splayed rainbows of colors. The violet sky reminded him of Duo's eyes. Ah, yes, if he was going to die he wanted to do so thinking of his lost lover.
