Chapter 1
Sunday morning Fleur smiled smugly in the mirror. "Yes," she said in a French accent. "I do belief you are a beauty, Miz Fleur Delacour!" Fleur was a quarter veela, and knew how to turn on the charm. Whenever she went out, guys followed in her wake, staring. "Today, ve are going on ze town!" She flipped her long golden hair over her shoulder and strutted out. She was on a mission-one that had to be fulfilled by Wednesday night.........
As Fleur walked along the street, she heard boys whistle, saw them stare. All she did was smile flirtatiously, much unusual for her. Then she came up to Flourish and Blotts, where her mission was to begin. She entered the little shop.
As soon as she entered, she saw a man's head snap up. "Um-welcome to- uh, Flourish and-uh, Blotts-um, may I- uh, help you?" The man stammered.
Fleur laughed her beautiful laugh. She could see his jaw almost drop with her beauty. "Not anything in particular-just browsing...." So she browsed the books, sometimes giving small shy glances at the man. Finally, as she started to leave, the man came running up to her.
"Um, my name's Andrew MacMillan, what's yours?" he asked, extending his hand.
Fleur laughed her delicate laugh again. "Fleur Delacour," she said, taking his hand. "A pleasure, it is," she said, flirting.
Andrew laughed nervously. "Um, listen, my shift's over in about half an hour, so if you could hang around-maybe we could go somewhere..." his voice drifted dreamily off into space.
Fleur smiled. "My pleasure, again. I vould love to go 'somevhere.' Vhere do you haff in mind?"
"Um, maybe we could go to dinner or something..."
Fleur continued to smile. "Yes, zat vould be nice. So, I vill meet you back here in about half an hour?"
"Yes, definitely!" Andrew exclaimed nervously. "See you there-or er, here!"
Fleur nodded and left the book shop. She smiled menacingly. Oh, she had him. Yes, she did. Her plan would turn out perfectly.
