Hi everyone, this is my first fic… plz be nice. Here goes nothing!
Harmon Rabb Jr. walks into the familiar bar, looks around for his friends. As soon as he finds them he makes a B-line to them. There they were sitting talking, all his best friends were here, except one. Mac. He couldn't even call her that now, their friendship was dwindling away.
Harm walks to the bar and adresses the bartender.
"I'll have a beer, thanks." He said as he placed a note on the bar.
"Coming right up."
"Good Evening Sir."
"Hello Bud."
"Why are you so happy, Sir?"
"Harm, Bud, my name is Harm. Anyway, what is so unusual about my being happy?"
"Umm…s….I….u…"
"What Bud's trying to say HARM is that you aren't usually this happy."
"Your right Harriet, I'm never this happy. This is a once off, that I hope will repeated a few times… I'm going to become a father."
"WHAT. Buddy, I know you've been seeing someone, but I didn't think… is that what the fight with you and Mac was about? Is that why she's getting the transfer out of JAG, to get away from all this?"
"Probably."
"Harm, either you told her or not."
"Sturgis, Yes she knows, she was my best friend, she had to know."
"How did she take it?" Harriet asked, almost scared.
"Well, she was happy for me. She was a bit sick at the idea at first."
"At first. Buddy, she's in love with you, there is no 'at first'. She's always going to be 'sick at the idea'."
"No, she won't she'll come around. I know she will."
"Sir, I don't think she'd transfer to the Pentagon, which is almost a demotion, because she was happy for you."
"Well, she hasn't said anything to me about being unhappy, so if she's going to the Pentagon to get away from me, so be it. Anyway, that was just a quick announcement… when I finish this I've got to go home, Mom's in town."
"Have you told her about the baby?"
"Not yet."
"If I remember your Mom, from the academy, correctly, you're in for it, Harm."
"No. Not necessarily."
"I bet she'll be thrilled about the Nanna stuff. The out of 'wedlock' stuff will be harder to work through."
"Your wrong Harriet, it's not the fact that I'm not married that worries me. It's the fact that I am, that does."
"When were you going to tell us about this Sir? We are your friends and you haven't even introduced her to us." He was really worked up, then calming himself down bud asked. "When did you get married."
"You've met her. We were married yesterday, applied for the marriage license Thursday, and got married on Saturday."
"Sir, what's she like?"
"She's smart, sexy, fun, giving, kind and she's the sweetest thing around me."
"Almost sounds like Mac, Harm. Except, I wouldn't call her sweet."
"Mac can be sweet."
"Yeah, in a kick-ass marine sort of way."
"She's still your superior Bud." Harm jokingly defended.
"Sorry, sir."
"Bud, it's ok, I was only joking."
"Is she a blonde?"
"Harriet, not all girls I have dated are blonde."
"Buddy, you say that, because Bobbi was a brunette. I'm guessing she's the only one you've dated."
"Well, honestly she looks a lot like Mac."
"Your joking sir, a brunette? You married a brunette?"
"Yes Bud, and don't be sarcastic, you don't do it well. I've gotta get home to the little wife."
"Sir, be honest Did you marry her because of the baby, or because you love her?"
"Harriet, I love her to death, but for the babies sake…I mean Harmon Matthew David MacKenzie-Rabb III is just to hard for a kid to remember. Night."
Harmon Rabb Jr. got up and walked away from the bar, leaving his three best friends stunned. Yes, his friendship with Mac was dwindling away, but his marriage to Sarah was burning brightly.
