Disclaimer: I do not own the Hawkbrothers
Claimer: The poem is mine, and mine alone. So is Bard Elantice/Petalsong. No touchy. Enjoy!
Note: this is a song written (supposedly) by Bard Elantice many, many years before the "Talia Timeline". Elantice was actually a Tayledras songspinner by the name of Petalsong, and she was circulating this song to help ensure that the Vales would be left alone. It worked pretty well, didn't it? *grin*
Hawkbrothers' Warning
Those huge, towering trees
Called the Pelagiris Forest
Hold a secret dark and deadly,
A strange people who are called Hawkbrothers.
A shadow in the darkness,
A presence in the night,
An arrow out of nowhere
As a warning to flee back to the light.
Do not disregard that warning,
For it shall be your last;
And if it is ignored,
Your life shall be a thing of the past.
A giant bird comes plunging
Down from foliage above;
If seen, this is your last sight
Before you know the Shadow Lover's love.
Arrows can be so deadly,
But so is magic fire;
Mage powers are theirs to command
When you arouse a Hawkbrother's ire.
Wonderful treasures hidden
In their home aren't worth you life;
So do not go a'seeking
If you would not find your throat on a knife.
The mysteries of the Hawkbrothers
Were not meant to be unraveled;
Just as the shadowy paths they tread
Are much better left untraveled.
Do not disturb the Hawkbrothers,
Leave them to their forests strange;
And remember that by only them
Can any Pelagiris beast be tamed.
I hope you liked this! Please review. I like reviews. So do all my other personalities. *hint, hint* If I get enough positive reactions, I'll consider tackling the creation of poems about other Misty Lackey cultures. i.e.: the Shin'a'in, the Heralds (Karsite point of view), the Karsites (Valdemar point of view), Iftel, etc. I probably won't do mages and magic, because Misty Lackey already wrote "Magic's Price." Any ideas are greatly welcome. If I use your idea, I'll give you credit at the beginning of the poem. Thankies!
