Chapter 1 - Diagon Alley
It was late August, a bright, sunny day. Diagon Alley was shining under the sun and Lyla was jumping up and down in excitement. "Look! Broomsticks!" she cried. "Cleansweet Three: the fastest in the world" she read. "It looks really nice. There! Owls! Look at the black one" she add, pointing a great black owl. Finally they found the Gringott's Bank and a goblin changed Pounds into Galleons, Sickles and Knuts. Lyla started one of the best days in her life: she bought all the stuff for Hogwarts and some funny things, like a Rainbow Quill, a quill that wrote red if you are happy, blue if you are sad and green if you are ill. At the sunset she still needed her wand and the books, but out of Ollivander's shop there was a queue. Lyla waited in the queue while Elana went to the bookshop. The girl before Lyla was short and a bit piggy, but she had a nice face. "Hi!" said Lyla "I'm Lyla Ross" The girl turned and smiled. "Hi, I'm Kelly Parkinson. It's your first year at Hogwarts?" "Yes," answered Lyla. "Mine, too, but I hope I'll became a Slytherin. They won the House Cup for the last three years. They have the best student of all: Tom Riddle" A student went out of the shop with a new want. Kelly said goodbye to Lyla and entered the shop. Some minutes later it was Lyla's turn. Ollivander looked carefully at her, took out a magic tape measure, measured her fingers, her shoulders and her head, then took a wand from a shelf. "Try this: mahogany, 12 fingers, unicorn tails" Lyla waved the wand, but nothing happened. Ollivander chose other wands, and finally Lyla found her wand: ebony, 10 fingers and dragon heartstrings. She paid the wand and went out, where she found Elana. "We should go," said the woman, and they went back in the Muggle world.
