A Spider's Lament

I know I haven't written anything in like, FOREVER. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! So, this is my latest poem, basically Spidey pondering what he does everyday, you know. I've got 2 other stories I'm going to post soon, one is spider man related, is 72 pages long and 21 chapters, and the other is just a short story, currently in the works, so you can look forward to that. Anyways, even though there is no indication…at all, this is movie verse. Not that it really matters, but it is.

As I look down on the city,

at the noises and the sights,

the dots that are the people

illuminated by the lights

I remember that it's helpless

Without me to fight its fights

If spider-man were gone,

Would things still be alright?

I live only to serve them,

A pawn in their big chess game

If I abandoned this city,

Would things still be the same?

There is no time for thinking

In a world this filled with pain

The hatred and the bloodshed begin to cloud my brain

Yet I do this every day,

And so it's all the same,

But I do it because I have to, not for money or for fame.

I ponder these things as I swing,

shooting web from wall to wall,

and wonder what would happen

if I were to miss and fall.

But these thoughts, they will not help,

When there's a job to be done

Time here will stop for no one,

Least of all me, silhouetted against the rising sun.

Here in this vast city,

Fighting all its fights,

It's hard to imagine that for spider-man

Things could ever be alright.

Okay, that's it. Please review, I likes reviews ^_^ All criticism and insults will be eaten.
