"One of Life's Little Irony's"

Disclaimer: Do I really have to say this, I don't own them so I am not making any money so you can't sue!

Summery: Takes place in the summer term after GoF where we discover something interesting about Lily's school relationships.

They sat in Professor Dumbledors office, the late summer sun filtering in through the windows. Harry shifted in his seat as Dumbledor carefully explained the situation to Florence, one of Lily's oldest friends from Hogwarts who had turned up to help with the war on Voldemort. Snape had made scathing remarks all through Dumbledors explanation of Sirius's innocence. It took all of Dumbledors commanding voice to stop Sirius standing up and thumping him. However as Dumbledor explained the rise of Voldemort all were silent.

The four of them now sat quietly as Dumbledor looked straight into Florence eyes and asked her if she was prepared to fight along side them in difficult and dangerous confrontations.

She looked back, holding Dumbledors gaze and them shifted her view across the room. "I will but there will be one condition," she looked directly at Sirius. "I must know who, twenty years ago when the three of us were in 6th Year, kissed Lily Evens in the empty Defence Against the Dark Arts over the Christmas holidays." She ended with a grin on her face.

"What?" started Sirius.

"Night before Lily got married to James all the bridesmaids were round her house and we were discussing our best moments from school. She told us of this mind blowing, eye popping, Hogwarts rocking, Earth shattering perfect kiss that she had shared with someone in an empty classroom."

"How do you know she wasn't talking about Potter?" spat Snape.

"She told us. Came right out and said point blank that it wasn't James. But I never found out who it was. She wouldn't tell us, Lily said we would all laugh. So I thought it must have been Peter, who would want to kiss him. But she said no. Lily told us, however, it was terrible ironic that she was marrying James Potter the next day though. So I always wondered if..."

"Me?" Sirius looked bewildered.

"Well the most ironic person I could think of was you, Sirius. Lily gets her perfect kiss from her husband's best friend, the man who would stand by James tomorrow as best man. And lets face it you practically kissed every other girl in Hogwarts. If it had been Sirius, wouldn't life be ironic!"

"Oh Florence," Snape sighed his eyes glittering strangely. "Life's far more ironic than that."

Florence squeaked.

Sirius choked.

Harry gasped.

And Dumbledors eyes twinkled as Snape swept out of the room in a flurry of black robes.
