Love at first sight
Neal sighed. Didn't she understand? It was better that she didn't, but still, he knew what his heart was telling him. He had dropped all these hints, heck he even said he loved the way yamani ladies dance. But she hadn't understood. And besides, he'd seen the way Cleon looked at her. But it wasn't fair. She was so pretty, and the graceful way she did everything, she was so cute. He couldn't take that away from Cleon, no matter how much he loved her. He would never love someone else though, he wouldn't be able to stand it. Just then, his door burst open.
In came Kelendry, the love of his life, the apple of his eye. But she didn't see it. Kel threw herself into his arms and cried so hard. This is how Dom found them half an hour later. He explained the situation, while Kel tried to stop crying. Word had come in that the border knights came home, so the Rider groups came in to greet them. With the border knights came a newly wed couple. An unhappy man, a pretty girl. That was when Kel had ran off, almost sobbing then, into the castle. Since then, they had scoured the castle, looking for her. This was the last place they looked, on the off chance. Now they had to find out what was wrong.
Kel sniffed, and explained who the groom was. It was Cleon, with the girl his mother had forced him to marry. He had loved Kel, apparently, and she was in love with him. It all fell into place for Neal. "SO, you came to me because? Do you want to break my heart even more?" He yelled, and she looked deeply hurt. She whispered " I came to you because I thought I could trust you. But you just want to hurt me too, don't you? Don't kid me." She then ran out of the room, never looking back.
The next few days were very bad for Neal. Kel refused to look at him, and only spoke to him if she had too. Finally, one day she was actually dressed like she used to, when she was happy, she walked over to Neal and sat down next to him. Without saying a word, she started eating noiselessly. Then he looked up and saw the Lioness staring at Kel, and motioning towards Neal. Kel sighed and gently said "Sorry Neal, I guess I was being really awful, I just can't believe that Cleon would do that. I really didn't expect you to say..that." He looked at her, seeing the hurt and anguish that was reflected in her eyes, saw what no one else did. Slowly he whispered "I still mean it, Kel. If you actually think about me that way, could you tell me? I've been wanting to tell you for forever." She looked deep into his eyes as well, and saw that he actually meant it. Kel reached up, and put her arm around his neck, kissing his slowly. He smiled and led her out of the hall.
