The Darkness Below By TwistedCitrus

In the Beginning...

The door banged twice, followed by the sounds of footsteps.

"I want to save the world."

T.C. looked up from the Neopian times and blinked. "Thats nice Alex." She went back to the comics.

"No." Alexis_Kiwi, sometimes called Alex, pulled the paper down. Her silver gold eyes intense. "I really mean it." Her dark shadowed coat looked a little dusty and sand clung to her constant back pack. "I want to save the world."

T.C. looked at her, her lime green eyes slowly processing the words. She glanced back at the now crumpled newpaper and a slow grin tickled her mouth. "Okay." She folded the paper and leaned back in her tiger chair. "How would you like to go about this?"

Alex paced the room, "I'm not sure."

"Battledome?" T.C. was getting an image from the trail of sand following Alex.

"No, too comman." Alex waved a paw. "I need somthing different! Something no one else has done!"

"This wouldn't have anything to do with Lara Usul and the Better-Then- You challenge?" T.C. studied her fingernails, painted a loverly shade of sparkle. A low hiss made her chuckle... almost.

"Argh... The arrogant fiend thinks she can just run through any tomb she likes!" Alex growled. "Move aside kid... Let the real Adventuress show you how its done." She mimicked the haughty tones of Ms. Usul. "Then proceded to demolish the wall I was studying and demanded! Demanded you hear! That I! Help her carry the treasure! Me! She demanded me! As if I was some minion to be ordered about!" Alexis exclaimed.

T.C. watched her with awe during her tirade. Alexis was very rarely flustered and to see her so overly annoyed was both amusing and frightening. "Well I do sympathize..."

"HA! You would have told her to jump in the lake! Of course she would find a sunken treasure..." Alexis muttered whipping around to glare at T.C. "So you see I need to do something!"

"Well..."

"Anything!!"

"Anything?" One dark brow rose.

"YES!!" Alexis cried so beset with her problem she failed to see the crafty look in T.C.'s eyes.

"Well there is this small problem that needs to be rectified..." She sighed. "It could be a major disaster. A world disaster."

"What!?" Eyes eager Alexis forgot to be wary.

"Right here." T.C. handed her the Neopian times.

"Huh?" Alex frowned as she focused on the paper. She read the articule her brow furrowing. Her eyes widened then narrowed, she frowned and then glared at T.C. who reclined in her chair. They stared at each other for what seemed like eternity. Alexis put down the paper and crossed her arms. She rocked back on her heels and glared. T.C. smiled and remained content to just meet her furious glare with an amused expression.

"Let me get this straight." Alexis finally spoke. "You want me? To go down into the Sewers?"

"You said you wanted to save the world." T.C. shrugged. "Why not?"

"The Sewer?" Alexis trembled with suppressed anger.

"Yup."

"Me."

Amused green eyes meet furious silver in a battle of wills.

"Lara Usul won't be there." T.C. pointed out calmly.

Alexis growled and clenched her hands as she tried to fight the urge to strangle T.C. She snarled and stalked from the room. The door to her room slammed with a resounding bang. T.C. shook her head with a grin and snapped open the paper.

"I think that went rather well." She chuckled.
