This is a poem about Martin expressing his love and grief for Rose after
she died. Please review! ~Sarah Leung
Rose, My Love Forever
Rose, how I loved you from when I first saw your face,
Met your gentle hazel eyes, your beauty and grace.
You meant ev'rything to me that lovely clear night.
Somehow, I could never leave you out of my sight.
From that dreadful prison pit, you had rescued me
I thought that with you, I would be forever free.
When we got back to Noonvale, your beloved home,
With your mole friend Grumm, but without your brother Brome,
I promised your parents that I would protect you.
Now I feel like I've failed not just them, but you too.
I remember the time you saved me from the birds
With your eagle cry, away from me, they were lured.
In the final battle against the evil stoat,
After we had arrived at the shores in a boat,
I know you hit your hardest when you struck at him
But you could not match the power of the vermin.
When he grabbed you and flung you at the hard stone wall
Your death, to me, was more than I could bear at all.
Oh Rose, my dear Rose, why did you leave me and die?
For you I shed tears of grief and anger, and cry.
With all my strength, I launched myself at the tyrant
And thrust my sword at him, to Hellgates, him, I sent.
Though the was is over, I will never rejoice
Because never again will I hear your sweet voice.
I will remember you for the rest of my days.
Rose, I will keep you in my grieving heart always.
