Reckless
By: Kameka
The hallway opened up into a bustling crush of people. Some were waiting to get on the shuttle to earth with family members or friends hanging around to say goodbye. Others were wearing military or station uniforms, moving storage boxes and pieces of equipment through the crowd.
The wedding had been the day before and the newlyweds had already gone down to Earth on a separate shuttle for a weeklong honeymoon at an undisclosed destination. Today the rest of the guests who lived on Earth were going home, along with Microbe.
The pandemonium became worse as Proto Zoa and his band mates arrived in the area. Some teenage girls who had obviously waited for them began screaming and rushed up to the lead singer, hoping for autographs. Proto Zoa, obviously enjoying the chaos he caused by being who he was, grinned and scribbled his name on the objects offered to him.
Eventually, guards escorted the teenagers out and the area became relatively quiet again.
The four band members grinned at Proto Zoa and raised their hands in salute as they boarded the shuttle to go home. After they were gone, Proto Zoa turned to Zenon Kar the teenager who had taken him on such a wild ride not once, but twice in the past few years. Looking around at the crowd, he pulled her into the relatively privacy of a small nook with seating. "Zenon, Zenon, Zenon. What am I to do without you there to liven up my life?" he asked in his accented voice, arms wide to receive yet another hug.
"Write songs?" Zenon asked in a mischievous voice as she gave him the hug he was asking for. "Something stellanarious major."
He nodded his assent and reached up to brush her blonde hair away from her face.
"Sweat minor, Proto Zoa. Your meltdown mode major is over. Haven't you already written some splediferous songs?"
"Yeah." He grinned and tapped her nose. "Stay outta trouble, Zenon."
"Don't I always?" Her eyes widened in innocence before his laughter made her giggle.
An announcement for the last passengers going to Earth to board the shuttle came over the overhead system.
Taking a deep breath, knowing that this was something completely reckless, Proto Zoa leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers. "Bye, Zenon."
With that, he left, equally unaware of Zenon watching him, one finger held to her lips, and a photographer from Music of the Galaxy furiously taking pictures from the nook he was hidden in.
The End
