First of all. Otanjoubi omedetou, Ismini-chan!! Yes, this was your birthday present, among other things--look for them later this week. If you're wondering why I showed you parts of it beforehand, it was because I wanted to write something I knew you would like, but I wanted to make sure that you thought it would be IC and a good story. I'm also writing you a Jyoumi and I'm planning on getting the next part of Waves out as your other presents. But those were things I know you'd like.
To the rest of you: For those of you that are wondering, this fic is based upon chapters that have not been made into tankubon yet. Yes, Hikaru and Akira do play one another at the Go salon, though they also constantly bicker. For those of you that picked up on it, I apologize for the spoilers for volume fifteen. Though, perhaps it will make you more inclined to find out what happened.
You should have recognized the question Hikaru asked Akira from an earlier exchange with Sai. I don't know if anyone picked up on it, but there was mild AkiHika in this story, specifically with the umbrella. Umbrellas in Japan are often used to signify relationships (for example a common way of expressing love is to draw two names under an umbrella), but I wanted to make it a story that was very subtle, a sort of transformation to a deeper level of friendship. That's how I look upon AkiHika anyway, so even if I write more fics with that theme, they should be "safe" to read. I very rarely have the characters in my stories even kiss.
The title means "The Melody In Your Eyes", which is a bit similar to "Hitomi no Chikara" ("The Power of Your Eyes"). I was thinking about using that song for the title, but I wanted something that sounded a bit softer.
"Hiroshi no Go" is just a bit of fun I'm having with kanji. Hikaru's
name is in katakana, but if you use a certain kanji for it, it can also
mean Hiroshi. For that matter, it can also mean Akira. But
I thought "Akira no Go" was too obvious and rather silly. Just think
of it as their world's equivalent to "Hikaru no Go".
