Mira stepped onto the Hogwarts Express. She couldn't believe that she was really going to the longest-lived school of witchcraft and wizardry. She had just turned eleven not more than two weeks before and now she was off to the school that could prepare her in the magical arts better than any other. Her mother would be so proud her father didn't even know she exsisted. He had run off when he found her mother was a witch. She never got to tell him she was pregnant.
People told her often enough that she looked liked her mother. They shared the same features average height, thin, but not curvy, straight sandy blonde hair, and blue eyes; thin framed rectangle glasses sat on her nose. Her mother though was outgoing, flashy and outwardly strong. She was quiet, reserved, and definitely more studious than her mother was.
She felt strange walking down the hall passed full cars of students eager and ready to start the year not caring for the outside world. Didn't they know the danger? Didn't they know that everyone who worked in the ministry was in danger? The ministry even know they were in danger? Did they care? That was what her mother had come to do, tell them the danger of someone like him. That man, Lord Voldemort, was what he called himself was trying to cleanse the magical blood. All her mother was was an ambassador from America; to try and find out what this man was up to and how was the British ministry handling it. Now her mother was insane at a hospital for wizards, and know one knew but the higher ranked staff at ministry of magic from America and England. The press was never to know for fear of spreading fear. Her mother's will said that she was to be left in the care of the Headmaster of Hogwarts and that now was a man named Albus Dumbledore.
Mira had met him twice and he seemed nice enough. He allowed her to live at the Leaky Cauldron and sent the groundskeeper, Hagrid, to keep an eye on her every chance he had. She liked Hagrid well enough, but she did have a slight fear of him. He was half giant she knew, but most of the world didn't. It was a good thing they didn't either for there is prejudice against giants for some ate people. This gave the rest of the giants a bad reputation and some a fear of them. Mira over-looked it often when she got into deep discussions over magical creatures with the half-giant.
She was running out of train when she found a compartment half-full. Two boys sat across from each other obviously in deep discussion over something. One of them was tall and lanky, with a messy mop of hair and brown eyes with round glasses on a slightly pointed nose. The other was built larger, but was shorter than the other boy by a few inches. Brown hair was being swept away from dark eyes that glinted mischieviously in the light.
Mira tapped on the doorframe. "Excuse me."
The two boys eyes her carefully and then caught glances.
"Um...I was wondering if I might be able to sit in here with you. Every compartment is full."
"Your the American ambassador's daughter aren't you," the shorter boy asked.
"Yes," Mira blushed looking at the floor, "I'm Mira, Mira Sanford."
"Sirius Black," the shorter boy replied.
"James Potter," the other boy said with a grin. Looking passed Mira he called out, "Who are you?"
Mira turned to see another girl with wavy, red hair that reached just passed her shoulders. She had peirceing green eyes and a average hieght, but curvy frame. She smiled, "Lily Clark."
