Chapter 1

R e f l e c t i o n

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

---Alan W. Watts

Harry was looking forward to some quiet time and actually getting some sleep on this warm summer morning. He hadn't been able to sleep well ever since. . . A sunbeam reached into his room and gently touched his face; Harry murmured something under his breath and abruptly turned over onto his stomach. Last year had certainly taken its toll on him. After he had thought he couldn't get anymore famous in the wizardry world, he once again had out done himself. Being champion of the Triwizard Tournament just a couple of weeks ago didn't help him in the least. But he was only famous in the wizardry world; in the muggle world he wasn't anything special, just a plain boy but a great annoyance to the Dursleys'. Harry stirred and rolled over to his side. He was being very restless, still deep in sleep; sweat was breaking out above his eyebrow. His fists were clasped to his body and started turning white. He tossed himself over again. Mumbling No! No. He groaned, suddenly lifting himself upright; a tear trickled down his left cheek onto his bare chest. He then decided to give sleep up as a bad habit from there on.

Harry pulled his navy blue comforter off of him, it was decorated with a wizard theme of scattered golden stars, on the reverse side were the moon and a sun pattern. He swung his legs from his bed to the side placing his size 9 feet onto the coral carpet. Searching to find his glasses on his side table, Harry glanced at the clock, which read 6:30 am. He took a sharp breath in and lazily walked to the bathroom. His figure was scrawny and his jet-black hair was unruly as ever. Even though Harry had grown several inches in the last year, he hadn't noticed with all that had been going on. Harry was now a towering height of 6 foot 1. He went to turn on the tap, when he caught a glance of someone staring at him in the mirror, his eyes didn't stray, the cold water was running. The figure Harry's eyes bore upon not only had a lightning shaped scar on its forehead but one on the inside of its right elbow. Harry's eyes shifted quickly taking in this person before him. The person had pale skin, his ribs were bony and there was no sign of muscle. There was a hint of facial hair and a few black hairs scattered across his chest. Harry looked up, catching sight of his pained emerald eyes. Harry abruptly splashed his face with cold water and started brushing his teeth, trying to ignore his reflection and the memories that were resurfacing within him. Harry couldn't but feel ashamed of the way he looked, the sleepless nights and his encounter with Lord Voldemort had made him look worn out and lifeless. The face staring back at him wasn't the Harry that he had wanted or expected to see. He wanted to change and he was going to start today. . . .

P.s. This is my first fiction. So I thought maybe I should go ahead and post what I have so far. I will be posting more soon, well hopefully. Please tell me what you honestly think. Thank you. =)
