Pyromaniac: Attracted to Flame By: I am Shinigami

Their lingering looks and inquiring eyes were starting annoy him. Squall sighed wearily and stumbled to his room. Since the war they'd all been staying at the Presidents mansion in Esthar, at first he hadn't really minded but lately Laguna had been acting strangely around him.

He was tired of the president's immature behavior but the sudden silence whenever he entered a room had begun to irritate him. It was as though everyone shared a secret that he was not a part of. Every time he argued with Laguna over something trivial he was reprimanded and treated disdainfully until he apologized. Even Quistis had been against him and yelled at him when he tried to be alone. She seemed to believe he was "being childish on purpose because he was subconsciously seeking attention."

Rinoa was of course, still trying to get him to "realize his feelings for her and open up." Everyone seemed to think that she was good for him and he'd be really happy if he just got past his shyness and admitted his love for her.

Squall grimaced and sat down on the edge of the king-sized bed. They knew nothing about him or his life; he had never been alone. It was only an act, something he used to keep unwanted people away. It was true he didn't "open up" or have a lot of friends, but what they didn't understand was that he did have a life they didn't know about. He hung out with the "posse" and his lover. He shared everything with Seifer; he was a part of him. He only needed Seifer because no one else understood him or shared his dreams. People thought Seifer was cruel and sadistic but all they saw was his mask, the façade he used to keep people away. He had been Squall's teacher and his best friend all his life.

In reality, Seifer was kind and gentle; Squall blushed as he thought of the Christmas mornings they'd spent just lying in bed and just holding each other. It was only a few months ago that Seifer had proposed, giving him a Griever ring to match his pendant and his gunblade case.

He took off his jacket and looked at the crimson design on his back. He felt silent tears trail down his cheeks, and he smiled as he remembered Seifer's grin when he mentioned getting a tattoo. He hadn't said what design and had taken Raijin with him to get it, when he got back to Garden, Seifer had been gone. The next day they'd gone to the cliffs and shown each other their tattoos (A/N I know that it takes at least a week for the skin to heal but I kind of speeded it up). Seifer had smiled and taken off his shirt; on the top of his back there was a black Griever design, less detailed than his pendant.

The amazed look on Seifer's face when I showed him the cross sword is a memory I cherish. Raijin and Fujin had been hiding in the bushes with a camera; they had taken pictures and wanted to us to pose for them. Seifer started to tickle me and brought me to the ground, he started to nuzzle me like a cat. I smiled at him and started to nip at his neck when I saw the camera flash. Both Seif and me ran towards her but she ran to Garden before we could catch her. Raijin just shrugged and chuckled, then he ran too because I gave him the Death Glare.

Now I have a whole album of "Kodak Moments," every year for Christmas Fujin and Raijin give us more pictures. At the beginning they gave me a leather bound book with a metal Griever and Cross Sword on the front. I still wonder how they made it but never actually ask them.

Someone is pounding on my door quickly caught my attention and brought me out of my inner monologue. Barely containing my annoyance I stalked purposely to the offending door and wrenched it open; forcing Rinoa to knock her fist into my chest. Her face was surprised and she pouted in a way she probably thought enticing.
