Breath of Fire isn't mine (I wish!) It is property of Square and Capcom. All characters also mentioned in this are of the aforementioned companies design, and are also not mine.

This is just something I took to typing after the idea popped into my head. I hope ya'll like it.

Dreams Of The Dragon

The wind coursed over their body, their flight ever seeking. What were they? From where did they come? Everyone asks these questions, and they give no answer. Tall, regal, proud, powerful, this is what made them. They answered to no one, and when they asked, infinity answered. Their call was the clanging of bells, their breath, that of fire, their form a mountain. What drove them and their nature, and for what purpose were they created? This is pondered as they sit and stare into nothingness, their fire long gone. Was it power? Was it glory? Or was it that they were perhaps, destined for such a fate? Forever will their stories be told, their legacy burning bright. Will they return to the mortal coil? Nobody knows. For now, let them dream, the endless dream, the dream of dreams. Let the mists of time roll over, all consuming, never sleeping. Until the day comes, the Dragons sleep, awaiting for their call, to awake from the dream, to once again be called upon to save the World that man now calls his own..

Ryu put his pen down and rubbed his eyes to get a clearer view of the window. He could tell it was well past midnight. Letting out a yawn, the young Brood stood. Walking over to the nearly consumed candle that flickered on the table he took a moment to look at it. As he looked at it the flame bent and twisted as the slight breeze in the room made it dance. He watched it for a minute or two then wet his fingers and doused the flame. The room fell into darkness. As he walked over to the stairwell a small voice called out from upstairs, "Daddy, why are you up so late?" Ryu replied as he came up and into his daughters room, "I had some thinking to do darling.." The young girl replied inquisitively, her green eyes shining even in the dark, "does mommy know you're up?" Ryu shook his head, "no..shh..go back to sleep Angel.." with that he lightly stroked her blonde hair. Sighing heavenly the girl nuzzled his hand as she slowly drifted back to sleep. As Ryu left her room, he took a moment to look at her adoringly. No, the Dragons weren't dead, for them it was just the beginning. He smiled a bit to himself, and then went into his own room. The Dragons lived he knew, within himself, and as long as he lived they would never be truly dead..
