The Long Watch

Frail, delicate, queen of white

Over you I watch tonight

So long have I gazed on your peaceful sleep

Wanting to hand you my heart to keep

I wonder if you knew

It was I who placed by your bed

Flowers still with the morning dew

To adorn your sweet, beautiful head

Words of passionate fire

Thoughts of you feed my desire

I look for a sign from thee

To see if you would accept me

If I could tell you how much to me you mean

Through my nights you fill my dreams

If I could see but one small sign

I would ask you to be mine

With these thoughts burning in my breast

I can but watch over you in your rest

Tonight, careful watch I keep

While at my side you do sleep
