Light Fae Compound
Bo rushed into the building. Dead bodies were at her feet as she ran past every door she had known about. She rounded the corner and was stopped by an Ogre. "Are you gonna move?". She groaned.
"No. You are going to leave". The ogre pushed back.
"Look, I'm just looking for someone. A blonde. A doctor". Bo huffed.
"I know who you are looking for. You are going to leave this place. You are unaligned and your interests do not concern the Light Fae any further". The ogre pushed Bo backwards, hard. She fell on her ass and popped up again.
"Stop it!". A woman's voice broke the confrontation.
"Finally". Bo wiped her hands on her pants and walked over.
"I stopped her Ash". The ogre bowed.
"Ash?". Bo looked back and forth between them.
"You heard me". The Ogre pushed Bo back again.
"Let her go, Oliver. Otherwise you will be at this all day. Since I don't have all day, I will deal with the Succubus myself". The woman walked away and gestured for Bo to enter a door. The women walked out of the main building and into another one.
"Where is Lauren?". Bo asked.
"She's gone." The woman replied.
"What? Where!?". Bo asked.
"That is none of your concern. I am acting Ash and soon that will be my official title. Anything concerning Dr. Lewis is private. So, you can stop coming here with your bumbling antics and silly injections". The woman poured herself a drink and threw the glass into the fireplace.
"Who are you?". Bo asked.
"My name is Serena. My brother just died at the hands of that crazy succubus thrall. That makes me the acting Ash until the Elders can officially appoint me to that position. In bombing us, she freed the good doctor". The woman took a seat facing the brunette.
"Don't you own Lauren? How can she be gone?". Bo asked.
"My brother was right. You are young and dumb. We don't own humans. They are our wards until they have fulfilled our purpose. Lauren is free". Serena smiled softly. She had been in and out of the Dr's lab for years. Lauren has always been professional. Even in the face of her brother's bullshit.
"I need to see her. I have a case I need her help with". Bo looked around.
"Those days are over. She was only helping just to help you. She has no obligation to me or the Light Fae anymore. I have seen to her escape from servitude. I have seen to her safety. Something you couldn't offer her if you wanted to". Serena looked at Bo without any emotion.
Bo paced back and forth. "Why didn't she tell me? Why didn't she call?".
"She tried to call you. Since this line belongs to the Light Fae we know everything that's said and on the screen when she makes a call. You ignored her calls". Serena showed Bo a phone with her name and blocked on the screen. "But since you can't bother her any further. Get out of here. Go back to your wolf. Go back to your cases and stay out of my compound and every building under my command. This is a new day and the succubus won't come out to play with my humans again". Serena slammed the phone down on the table.
Bo turned and walked out. She felt like she was walking with her ass between her legs. She walked into the compound amid the rubble and dead bodies. She stopped and looked back once. She stood in the very lab Lauren had examined her for the first time.
The Dal.
"So, how do you think it's going over there?". Kenzi asked.
"I don't know and rightly, I don't care. Lauren lied to Bo. She deserves whatever humiliation she's putting her through". Dyson shrugged as he took his next shot.
"You love her don't you?". Kenzi asked. When the wolf stopped and stared into space, she had her answer. "What are you going to do about it?".
"When the time is right and soon, I will mate with her. That will make her mine forever. She will love me when she's over this Lauren mess". Dyson smiled and took a beer.
"I warned you about that, Dyson". Trick growled.
"You warned me to watch her, you never said what I could and couldn't do with her". Dyson shrugged again.
"She's important to me and you know that. Stop your plan, right now". Trick walked over.
"Why is Bo important to you?". Kenzi looked back and forth between them.
"Leave it alone, Kenzi". Dyson shook his head.
"I will keep asking, you know that". Kenzi put her hands on her hips and tapped her foot.
"You have work to do at the precinct, right Dyson?". Trick looked up at the wolf.
"I do". Dyson dropped his pool stick and walked out without another word to Kenzi.
Kenzi stood looking at them. Trick had walked behind the bar and kept his back to her. Something is up and she has to think of a way to get to the bottom of it. Bo should be there soon, so there's that. She looked to her right when she heard hard footsteps. The succubus bypassed manners and grabbed a bottle from behind the bar. "Not yet, mama". Kenzi grabbed it from her hand.
"What? You said you needed beer earlier, how are you not in the mood to drink?". Bo yanked at it.
"The bartender and Dyson are hiding something from us. I thought you would want to be sober when you confront him about it". Kenzi pointed to Trick and took a seat.
"What is Kenzi talking about, Trick?". Bo asked.
"I can't say for sure, yet". Trick replied over his shoulder.
"After what I just found out, I am not in the mood for bullshit.". Bo reached over the bar and touched his shoulder. "Tell me".
"You are my granddaughter, Bo". Trick smiled wildly.
"What?!". Bo and Kenzi screamed.
"Trick, the compound has been bombed!". Dyson ran in.
"What? When? How? Who?". Trick asked.
"We both know who". Dyson eyed him.
"She can't be that crazy". Trick shook his head.
"She is". Dyson replied.
"Who? Who are you talking about?". Bo asked.
"Saskia, Bo. She's really your mother and her name is Aife!". Trick and Dyson replied.
"What?!." Bo and Kenzi screamed.
"Aife is my daughter." Trick stepped from around the bar.
Bo was almost in a trance. Her eyes went everywhere trying to process what she just heard. It all makes sense. Why the woman practically doted over her. Touched her. Wanted to go out on the town with her. Now she just bombed the compound Lauren was working in.
The trio jumped back when a growl circled around the room. "Shift." The Succubus spoke softly.
"I'm not a shifter." Trick stood back.
"No. He is!." The Succubus was in front of Dyson within seconds. "Shift, I said."
"Bo! I can't. I won't!." Dyson moved away.
"Bo? Do I look like Bo to you?!." Blue eyes shook his shifter and he was forced to shift. The succubus grabbed a rope and tied it around the wolf's neck. She bent down and ran her hand under his nose. "That's Lauren's scent, find her. Now!."
"What the fuck was that?!." Kenzi screamed when she was left alone with Trick. Trick swallowed hard and called sanctuary for himself.
Unknown location.
The blonde gently knocked on the door. She kept her wits about her as she looked over her shoulder.
"Well, Captain. This is a surprise". An old man laughed.
"I'm sorry, sir. I didn't know where else to go". Lauren bowed.
"Get in here old girl". The man pulled her into the building.
"For security reasons, I can't stay". Lauren sighed.
"Still on the run? Okay. How can old Gerry help?". He asked.
"My pension? You have access to release it to me right?". Lauren asked.
"I do". Gerry walked her to another room. He put his hand on a brick and waited as a panel opened. "It has been years, Captain Beattie, I thought you were dead. But I'm glad to see you alive, my sweet".
Lauren smiled. The Major has always been sweet on and to her. She's glad that she can still trust him. It has been a long, long day as it is. She wasn't out of bed and at work long before the compound had been bombed. The Ash was literally pushed in front of her with deadly wounds. He handed his sister his Ash ring and died minutes later. That's not how an Ash is appointed but she had to accept it for what it was, a way out. She has her most important patient safely tucked away thanks to Serena. She was far nicer than her brother had been.
"I created this account years ago. It has gained a lot of interest. Nobody knows about it but me, so don't fear the authorities or my old superiors to come looking into it once you have withdrawn the funds". The Major handed Lauren a piece of paper.
"Major, thank you. I know you are taking a risk given everything that has happened". Lauren sighed.
"No, Karen. I should be thanking you. If you hadn't known how to set my leg that night, I wouldn't be walking on my own". The Major smiled.
"Karen". Lauren laughed and rubbed her forehead.
"Get out here. Enjoy your life." The Major gently but firmly pushed the woman out of the building. Lauren smiled as she looked around. She walked to a truck that was suddenly lit up by a light and climbed in. "Never forget, you are a Captain and a doctor". A note read. She looked at the dash and noticed she had a full tank of gas. She started the engine and drove towards two doors that were opening ahead of her. They owe her this. The time she served is money she deserves.
She never thought she would be out and free. Free to live her life although she will never live it as Karen Beattie again. She may change her name again. Because of Dyson and the other Fae that will probably think they can drag her back there. No. She is free. She was free the minute those explosives went off. She laughed thinking that a Fae hates the Fae more than she does.
Dyson and Bo
Dyson felt humiliated. Bo is using him like a K-9. There are actually shifters on the force that are K-9's too. But he can't tell her that because every time he stalls, she pulls the rope tighter around his neck. He stopped when a scent was detected. He looked up to Bo and her eyes weren't blue anymore which meant it is actually Bo and not her succubus walking him. It was probably Bo from the minute they walked out of the Dal. The woman never spoke, she just yanked when he stopped and started again.
"It shouldn't be taking this long!." Bo screamed. "You better be actually looking and not wasting my time!." Bo rolled her eyes. "On second thought, shift to your human form." She pulled on the leash and he shifted. "Put those on." She dropped his underwear in front of him. "That's all you will wear. Now, find Lauren!."
"Bo! This is stupid. She's gone!." Dyson growled.
She swung on him and he fell backwards. "I will find her myself. You will stay here. If you come after us, you won't live another second." She walked away and hailed a taxi. "Where to ms?." The cab driver asked.
"The nearest car lot." Bo smiled and ran her fingers over the back of his neck. He pulled up and she jumped out. She walked around the lot looking at new cars only. She is done with used ones. "I'll take this one." She smiled as she ran her hand over a candy apple red Camaro.
"Come inside and we'll complete the transaction." The salesman replied.
Bo smiled as she followed him in. She tapped her foot listening to his entire spiel and when it was time to pay, she touched his chin and he handed her everything she needed. If she is going to find Lauren, her old car sticks out like big bird. This will do very nicely. She can actually floor it, should she need to.
She changed her look too, after a quick shopping spree. Tight leather pants and jacket with her hair framing her face and hanging down her back. This is the real Bo. Hot, focused and sexy. She thought of her mother. The woman won't have the balls to show her face to Bo again. There was a better way and she chose the wrong one.
"The light is green! Go!." She screamed at an Rv pulling a hummer in front of her. When the vehicle suddenly turned and the Hummer nearly broke loose, she followed it. That was odd even in this heavy traffic. She smiled when she finally hit over 60 miles per hour. She wasn't sure why she was practically tailgating this RV but she can't give up until she finds out. Another stop light stopped it and she had her chance. She pulled up on the left side of it and gasped. She would know that jawline anywhere. "Lauren". She whispered. The blonde had on a green baseball cap and green jacket but they can't camouflage that face.
Now or never, Bo thought. She turned her attention to the light, when it turned green, she sped ahead and half turned in front of the rv. She climbed out of the car, exposing herself to the doctor. She watched Lauren shake her head and lower it. She watched the blonde pull over and left the driver's seat. She walked over and knocked on the side door. "Lauren. It's me. Bo. Please let me in."
The blonde opened the door but locked it behind her. "Now, now you want to talk?." She snapped.
"Do we have to do this out here? It's getting chilly". Bo gestured towards the rv.
"You are not going in there." Lauren growled.
"Fine. My car then." Bo gestured.
"No. If you have something to say. Say it here." Lauren leaned against the door and kept a hand in her pocket.
"Do you have a gun, Lauren?!." Bo's eyes went wide.
"What if I do?." Lauren replied.
"You need a gun to talk to me?." Bo rocked backwards on her heel.
"I don't know what you want. I have a patient to protect." Lauren moved her hand against the trigger.
"Is that why he had you? A patient?." Bo asked.
"You are full of questions. Almost like you are waiting for answers you won't listen to. Well, unless I'm a wolf that is." Lauren shook her head.
Bo rolled her eyes and looked up. "I just needed time, Lauren. I came looking for you today. But the new Ash said you had left."
"I don't have time like you do. So, we know a succubus can't have a medical emergency, I will be on my way." Lauren turned and Bo gently stopped her.
"Lauren. My mom is responsible for the bombing. I didn't know she was my mother until just a few hours ago." Bo cried and wiped her tears.
"Then I need to get a bigger gun. If she comes near me or mine again. I will shoot her right in the neck. Then she won't be able to feed." Lauren yanked her arm away from Bo.
"I am so, so sorry Lauren. I didn't know she would do that!." Bo bowed her head.
"The fae are never sorry." Lauren gritted her teeth.
"I know you don't trust them or believe in them but believe in me. I just want to help and to make sure that you're okay". Bo jammed her hands in her pockets so she wouldn't be tempted to touch the doctor again.
Lauren heard a beep and groaned. "Damn it!." She yanked the door open and ran inside.
Bo stood there watching. She wanted to go inside so badly, but she hadn't been invited. She didn't have manners that night, she needs to have them now. "Move your car. I need to get out of here!." Lauren screamed from the driver's seat. Bo nodded and ran to move it. She moved just enough for Lauren to be able to pull off. She followed the woman until she pulled over again.
"What is it?". Bo jumped out.
"I can't tell you. In fact, why are you following me?." Lauren groaned as she emerged.
"Why do you need to charge this? What's going on, Lauren? Who's in there?." Bo pulled her jacket off and threw it on top of her car.
"I'm a doctor. A doctor has patients. Now, answer my question. Why are you here? Did they send you to bring me back?." Lauren snapped angrily.
"I'm here because I want to be and they who?." Bo asked.
"Oh, you have forgotten how Dyson talks to me like I'm lower than dog shit. They hate me. I'm human. So, why is a fae following me if not to take me back to serve with the other slaves?." Lauren sighed in relief when her shore battery charger started working.
"Nobody sent me after you Lauren. I came on my own. I used Dyson for all that his wolf is worth to track your scent. I ran out of patience and left him on the side of the road. As you can see, I don't have anything old with me, but me." Bo pointed towards her car.
"How nice for you." Lauren walked back and forth.
"Lauren, if you are cold, please, go inside." Bo frowned when the woman rubbed her arms.
"I will when you leave." Lauren replied but never looked up.
"This is a patient that needs electricity?." Bo asked. "I'm right aren't I?."
"Why do you want to know now?! You didn't want to know that night!." Lauren screamed and cursed herself at the same time. "Just go, Bo. I can't do this dance all evening."
"What's wrong with your patient? Will he or she not wake up? Is that it? Maybe my succubus can help." Bo offered.
"Are you kidding me right now? Another succubus caused all of this!." Lauren held Bo's eyes and the look wasn't pretty.
"My blood can do special things, Doctor. I thought you'd like that option given how late it's getting and how low your battery looks." Bo stepped to Lauren.
Lauren looked at the ground and back up. "Fine, follow me."
Bo nodded and held the door as Lauren walked in ahead of her. As soon as Bo stepped in, she was floored. "What the hell!?."
"Lower your voice, here." Lauren snapped.
"This is why he kept you? This is bullshit." Bo spoke through gritted teeth.
"If I can use your blood, I need a vial." Lauren grabbed some equipment. Bo sat on a rolling stool and held her arm out.
"That's enough." Lauren stepped away from Bo leaving a bandage in her wake.
Bo stood and walked to the back of the rv as she paced back and forth. She took turns looking at the ground and at the doctor. When Lauren stepped back and looked into the pod. Bo walked over to stand beside her.
"I mixed both bloods together. If yours is going to help, it should be instantaneous." Lauren replied.
"I can't believe this. I see why you didn't want anyone to know. Although I would have been screaming it to everyone. I see why you couldn't tell me. Especially in the club house. This is too big to chance. I am so, so sorry, Lauren. I had no idea and I would have had I listened that night and not blocked your calls." Bo nearly sobbed as they watched the pod.
"I don't need your pity or tears, Bo. It won't help my patient." Lauren stepped away to get a bottle of water.
"Lauren, look." Bo smiled softly.
Lauren grabbed more equipment and opened the pod. "I need to check vitals."
Bo stepped back with her hands up. She loves this side of Lauren. But the woman is always a doctor. She was impressed at how professional the woman could be under such bullshit circumstances. Probably years of training her heart to shut off with the fae.
"I need to get to an actual hospital." Lauren turned around.
"Is something wrong?." Bo asked.
"I just want to make sure. It's a natural thing for me." Lauren closed the pod again and walked out to unplug the battery and came back in to start the rv. Bo ran outside and waved down a police car. "Sick patient inside there. Can we get a police escort?."
The officer nodded. Bo jumped in her car and followed behind Lauren and the police car.
When they arrived, Lauren showed them her credentials as she wheeled her patient inside. She asked for a private room and got everything she asked for. Bo kept a healthy distance as she watched. After twenty minutes, Lauren finally took a seat.
"Is he okay?." Bo whispered.
"He's fine." Lauren cried into her hands.
"Can he be moved, right now?." Bo asked.
Lauren looked up at Bo and nearly jumped to her feet. "Yes."
"Then let's get the both of you out of here." Bo called for a wheelchair and pushed the gurney out to a nurse. "Follow us". She put Lauren in the wheelchair "Drive my car." She pulsed a valet attendant and tossed him the keys.
She helped Lauren and her patient inside the RV and jumped into the driver's seat once Lauren was settled. Almost ten minutes later, Bo was pushing the wheelchair again with Lauren half asleep. "We need a suite for the weekend." She told the front desk clerk.
"Push him and follow me". Bo picked Lauren up and carried her to the elevator. The blonde had finally fallen asleep. Up they went. Once inside, Bo dismissed the bellhop and turned around.
"I'm going to get him settled in and I will be right back." Bo whispered as Lauren mumbled something in her sleep. "You will sleep much better, here." Bo tucked the patient into a sizable bed and turned back to help Lauren. She carried the woman to her own room and gently placed her in the bed. Lauren stretched in her sleep.
Bo flopped on the couch near the far wall. She sighed quietly and looked at the ceiling. This is so big. So big she can't tell Kenzi. She doesn't need to know. She's probably still at the Dal. Dyson and Trick will protect her. Bo smiled. This is just out of her mind, wild.
"Ethan!." Lauren screamed as she shot up in the bed.
"If that's his name, he's fine." Bo showed the blonde a baby monitor.
"I have to see for myself." Lauren ran out of the room. Frantic, she went from room to room. "I'm here. I'm here, my son." She climbed into the bed next to him.
"No. Your mothers are here. He's ours." Bo spoke softly from the doorway.
"What did you say?." Lauren raised up.
"He has my blood right? He's mine now too. His mother needs to go to bed." Bo gently threw a blanket over the blonde. Lauren collapsed in exhaustion.
The next morning
"Lauren? It's time for breakfast. I ordered everything since I don't know his diet." Bo gently shook the woman. Lauren opened her eyes to a robe clad Bo. She smelled fresh from the shower.
Lauren checked her own breath and knew she needed to shower too. "I already bathed Ethan. He's playing in the other room." Bo pulled back and pointed.
Lauren jumped up and ran to check on him. She was shocked to see him in jeans, tennis shoes and a flannel shirt. "I did a little shopping last night after you fell asleep." Bo explained.
"Bo, if I didn't like you, I would kill you." Lauren replied as she went to shower. When she walked back out, she melted a little more. Bo and Ethan were cuddled up on the couch, Bo was reading him a book. Not just any book, a science book.
"Trying to get him caught up with all that he has missed." Bo gestured as she pointed to every toy that had come out in the last five to ten years. Books were stacked on a corner table.
"We've got to have him seen to make sure his brain is okay and get him enrolled in school." Lauren shook her head. There is so much to do that she didn't anticipate so soon.
"Did you hear that son? Mama said we?." Bo kissed the top of his head and began reading again.
Lauren stared at Bo. She said she wanted a normal life and looks well on her way to getting that. She walked over and sat on the other side of Ethan and listened to Bo reading to him. "I've got the next book."
When Bo turned to the next page, she looked at Lauren. She thought of everything she left behind. Nothing that will take priority over her family with the woman she loves. Should that old, brief life show up again, she will deal with them. But there's nothing that's going to make her run from Lauren or their son.
Finished.
