*~*---------------------------------------------*~*--------------------------------------------*~* Disclaimer: Naturally, I don't own anything that revolves around pokémon except for my own, original characters and future original pokémon. All right? I don't even know why I bothered: I usually don't. LOL! Whatever...I hope that you enjoy this poem.

The Last Time
I remember when I first saw you:
it was a brisk morning.
Crystallized droplets of dew clung
to the lush green leaves with curly tendrils,
nourishing the other animals.
The grass was wet also,
much too wet for my luxurious fur.
Chestnut brown, a white ruff,
you know what I used to be.
I sat there,
candidly munching on a ripe Berry.
The sweet essence dripping down my adorable cheek,
staining it.
It looked like blood.
Something I hadn't seen until...
I'll get to that later.
Then you came along,
cheerfully boastful:
Proud that you'd one another battle.
I liked the way you smelled,
but I didn't you.
A hint of chocolate chip cookies,
Breath mints,
some random sort of meat.
All of it edged off with a bit of natural body odor.
You smelled natural,
and I liked that.
Yet naturally,
I didn't like you.
I hated you like a dark, rainy day.
I hated you like a mosquito piercing my flesh.
I hated you like a Rattata stealing my breakfast.
Who would have known that I would have grown to like you?
Who would have known that I would have grown to love you?
And who would have known I would have grown to adore you?
Not me.
Not me.
I strove to do more.
Because more is required.
I evolved.
Was that a gift for my perseverance?
Or perhaps a bad omen for my naivety to let myself be captured?
So many questions.
I hardly see any answers.
Why did you have to go and leave me?
I would've come with you.
You said that you would only be gone for fifteen minutes.
I waited like I was your little bitch.
And I was...
except that I wasn't a Growlithe.
Too bad.
Dog is man's best friend...
shouldn't Umbreon's be that too?
I grew frantic after an hour.
Terrified at three.
Darkness crept in.
I came searching.
My master, my friend—
My life.
My heart stopped.
A fallen creature lay on the ground,
slumped up against a rotting log.
Bright green moss and gray lichens.
So clearly did I see that.
So murky did I see you...
The wood was soft with crimson blood,
almost dry.
You'd been dead for a while now.
The glowing rings faded.
I let a bitter cry of anguish pierce the sky.
My faulty, formidable frame sunk into the
dark, damp dirt.
My vision turned fuzzy.
I had no purpose to be on this world
than to serve you.
You'd convinced me of it.
And I believed it.
I faded into the darkness,
departing from this horrible world.
That was last time...
I saw your face.
Fiercely cut and torn,
the eyes gouged.
Your throat slit.
That harsh vision stayed on my mind.
I'd take hell over heaven any day,
at least that way we wouldn't be separated...
