Second Chances
Life is made up of situations littered with irony. Take Bulma and Vegeta for example. One minute Vegeta would have destroyed Bulma without a second glance and then next thing you know they're raising a family
Sometimes we get second chances, Sometimes we never make it passed the first,
Videl and Gohan were the same. She hated him and he was terrified of her. Now they have a beautiful little daughter and are happily married. I remember everything those two went through. They loved each other so much without evening realizing that the other reciprocated the feelings.
It really makes me wonder why some things happen when they do, It really makes me wonder why it wasn't me instead of you.
18 and I were nowhere near as easy. I believe when I met 18 I was given a second chance. A second chance to do all the things I wanted to do but never had the time for. Now I know you can't put things aside for tomorrow. There might not be a tomorrow. I, of all people, should know that.
And when you say, I doesn't matter, Well it does, And all it takes is a mistake to eat your words, Just one more time I think I'll drive on home tonight.
I try never to regret things. Of course, sometimes that's difficult, given some of the situations I've faced. Yet having someone to love you has to be one of the most regretless things in the world. That's what life is meant to be about. Even Vegeta would have to agree with that.
Sometimes we never see the warning, And the voice in your head tells you not to go,
I once wondered if I would ever have what Goku had. For someone who sometimes seemed so utterly clueless he sure seemed to have everything he wanted. A loving family, people who genuinely cared about him.
It really makes me wonder why some things happen when they do, It really makes me wonder why it wasn't me instead of you.
I suppose after Goku died I realized life was made of chances. Goku, who hadn't lived, hadn't made it past the first. I, who had, had been given a second. Who can argue when they have the opportunity to live again?
And when you say, It doesn't matter, Well it does, And all it takes is a mistake to eat your words, Just one more time I think I'll drive on home tonight.
When I look at 18, I see someone who gives me a reason to live. A reason to wake up in the morning. A reason to breathe. I never realized what I was missing until I didn't miss it anymore. The pain in my chest subsided and the ache in my heart disappeared.
And when you look, It's gone, It's too late to turn around, And it's another day facing yourself and the things that you've done, Woh-oh-oh-oh-ohhh.
I have a beautiful daughter, a wonderful wife and the greatest friends anyone could ever ask for. Who needs more than that?
And when you say, It doesn't matter, Well it does, And all it takes is a mistake to eat your words, Just one more time I think I'll drive on home tonight.
